3 years 7 months ago on 08 May 2018 I started this thread for those who wanted to lose weight and have a healthier lifestyle. Many people have joined up and many pounds lost and a few gained.

We now have a small band of ‘regulars’ called Pears who have joined our ranks and they have brought new ideas and support. Many thanks girls what would I do without you all. I am so grateful you have stayed so loyal and been such good friends to us all.

Do join us the rules are simple.

Choose your own style of diet plan.

Check in regularly with a report of the highs and lows of the diet.

Have an occasional binge but get back on the wagon ASAP.
Pass on any useful diet tips.

So for example I started calorie counting with the NHS Diet Plan. I now eat what I like but make portion control my way of life.

You have nothing to lose, other than weight, on this thread.

Our new mantra is - Eat Less for Life.

So Onward and Downward Pears ??

Well done Sacha

I'm going to have to be really healthy this weekend.

On top of covid and spending lot of time in bed, I've had 3 care packages from friends and colleagues which have contained a lot of my favourite things.

Flaxseed Thu 17-Mar-22 19:56:48

That’s fab sachaMac - well done!

SachaMac Thu 17-Mar-22 18:39:35

Yay battery replaced (the scales not mine) & 2lb off smile

SachaMac Wed 16-Mar-22 10:08:40

Morning all, well done on your losses & for just keeping going.
When I jumped on the scales all I got was Lo, so I’m off up to the shops shortly for a new battery, I will weigh in tomorrow morning….feeling quite positive.
Hope your blueberries do well Whiff,

Flaxseed Wed 16-Mar-22 09:45:04

Well done violetsky and cocopops
I’m trying to be so good this week (which is sandwiched between two weekends away) BUT there have been a few birthday cakes at work this week and I am far too weak to resist hmm

Whiff Wed 16-Mar-22 06:03:23

Cocopops any loss is a win . Shirley it's a blip. Birthday cake should never be resisted. I had 2 slices of the one my daughter made me last year.

Exercise class today so means I get a treat . They have plain and chocolate biscuits to go with our drink so I always have a chocolate one.or two. I put extra welly into my exercises to make up for it .

Had my blueberry plants arrive yesterday . So ordered the proper compost for them as they like acid soil. Had a bargain with them they where £14. 95 each or 3 for £29.90 one of each variety. As I only wanted 2 giving one to my daughter plus a bag of compost. As I will need my daughter and son in law to put my new panels in my greenhouse when I get them. Arwen blew 8 out.

Have a good week pears.

Shirleyw Wed 16-Mar-22 03:32:27

Well done on the losses.

Up half a pound, am happy with that as their were birthday celebrations over the weekend….and who can resist birthday cake ?

CocoPops Tue 15-Mar-22 06:46:45

Congrats. to those of you who are doing well.
I lost a mere .2 lb which is better than nothing innit!

VioletSky Mon 14-Mar-22 07:56:53

I'm so happy, over the last 2 weeks I have lost 3 pounds!

I forgot to mention, I don't think fasting is a good idea with thyroid issues that affect netabolism but I have been following some of the principles. I'm keeping my tea/coffee black before my first meal and after my last meal. Maybe all those milky teas were adding up ?

VioletSky Sun 13-Mar-22 15:10:44

Still no batteries but I do think I'm doing better.

I lost all my routine when I was very ill and I'm gradually putting it back in place. So eating at regular times is becoming more routine and sitting on my bottom snacking is becoming less routine lol

Having children and adult children who are very skinny means lots of snacks in this house. So I've bought myself some healthy alternative snacks listening to the good advice here. Things that promote fibre intake and fullness. Making use of fruit, going for homemade banana bread or flapjack instead of chocolate cake and cookies.. All adds up and very tasty

Flaxseed Sun 13-Mar-22 14:55:30

No weigh in here this weekend as I have just spent a lovely weekend in York. That did, of course, mean lots of yummy food and drink hmm
We did lots of walking, but I can’t imagine it was anyway near enough to make up for the calories consumed!
I’m staying with a friend next weekend so need to be really careful this week to lose whatever I will have put on this weekend.
I certainly have the motivation to carry on carrying on, as I was struggling with clothes that fitted whilst I was away. I defaulted back to my stretchy jeans everyday confused
Well done to all losers and maintainers!

Whiff Sun 13-Mar-22 13:54:37

Shirley well done with the 5lbs . What a boost . Bet you had a big smile on your face when you saw that.

Well done to the losers and maintainers. Any gain is a minor blip in the great scale of things.

I have lost 3lbs this week. Still got a bit water retention in my left leg but at these the skin has some wrinkles back. Who would thought I would be happy to have wrinkles ?.

Love the idea of chocolate and dates in the freezer . But I know myself to well and would just keep going back to get a treat and the lot would be gone in a day.

Had good news about my exercise class I can stay until the class gets full. As they are only 4 of us at the moment in the maintenance class hopefully have months more of going. My emailing was all worth it.

Hope you all have a good week.

SachaMac Sun 13-Mar-22 13:11:22

Love the sound of the frozen dates, will try those. Ive been out for a buffet breakfast this morning, I went for the eggs, bacon & mushrooms, NO toast although I did have a little granola with Greek yoghurt & fresh fruit to start, I will now skip lunch!!
Weigh in coming up so fingers crossed. Im off out with the dog to hopefully walk some of it off now.

fourormore Sun 13-Mar-22 09:24:51

After another dodgy week with somewhat 'iffy' menu choices etc. I've lost 0.2lb this week which is basically staying the same. I don't mind that as we've been all over the place since the new year reorganising before and after the decorator so I expect to hopefully just maintain at the moment.

Spring is on it's way (hopefully!) which makes decent walks more tempting!

We've had some tremendous losses in the fruit bowl haven't we and nobody seems to be gaining excessively so we're on the right road.

Keep it up fruits and never give up! flowersflowersflowers

Madgran77 Sat 12-Mar-22 20:11:26

I have tried the frozen fresh dates .....splash out on the Medjool ones ....very very tasty!

NanKate Sat 12-Mar-22 18:56:51

chelseababy can I suggest you put you chocolates in the freezer then just eat 1 or 2 and slowly then cut them out. Also if you freeze fresh dates, just one is very satisfying. Worth a try

cornergran Sat 12-Mar-22 18:40:12

A whoops week for me so the scales tell me. Oh dear. Eating out and guests to entertain have ambushed all my good intentions. Onwards! I’ll try to do better next week.

chelseababy Sat 12-Mar-22 15:17:19

A stay the same for me too. Unfortunately bad habits are starting to creep back in, 4 chocolates while watching TV last night!

Sarahmob Sat 12-Mar-22 13:33:34

Good morning all,
Pleased to report that I’m maintaining well but have made little downward movement in spite of trying to be really careful. I’ve had loads of meals out just lately and they scupper my hard earned deficits.
I’m pleased to hear of all the successes, well done to you all, especially Shirley, 5lb off ??.
Whether you’re a loser, maintainer or even having a whoops week, keep on heading downwards.

Madgran77 Fri 11-Mar-22 06:56:02

Yay another 1lb down, despite visitors and cooking for them!

Well done everyone for keeping going!

cornergran Thu 10-Mar-22 00:54:34

After a very strange week I’m delighted to report a lb down. Very happy with that, expected to gain. Walking a lot more which will help physical health but most of all its helping me feel positive and buoyant.

Water retention surely doesn’t help whiff. Love your pragmatic approach. That’s a wonderful loss Shirley, good for you.

This weight loss lark is certainly full of bumps along the way, not a smooth path. So many ways to approach it, as different as we all are. Good luck everyone.

VioletSky Wed 09-Mar-22 19:52:33

Congratulations on the downs, 5 pounds, wow

Ive had to order a special battery for my scales so no idea this week but my tummy feels flatter which is nice

SachaMac Wed 09-Mar-22 09:09:24

Well done Shirley 5lbs is an amazing loss. Hope the dogs enjoy the enclosure, my lovely Border Terrier is an angel in every way until it comes to recall, if he spots a squirrel he is gone and becomes deaf to my calls so I tend to keep him on an extendable lead. I have recently started taking him to an enclosed field and it’s been lovely to watch him racing around freely, they are such a great idea. Enjoy your slither of cake smile

Shirleyw Wed 09-Mar-22 05:18:27

I’m pleased to report a 5 lb loss this week, I have been extra good to give me a kick start, I’ve been maintaining then up, maintain then up again etc since before Christmas , spring is almost upon us and I have some Lovely clothes to wear for summer,I don’t want to be having to buy a size up .

Still chilly down south, but it has been sunny ….my granddaughters 9th birthday at the weekend so we shall go up there, we are all meeting up at a dog enclosure field so the dogs can have a run round and we all take a picnic birthday tea, they have a big hut there with a large picnic table and seating so even if it rains it still can go ahead……I hope to be sensible and have just a slither of cake??
Have a good week guys

ShazzaKanazza Tue 08-Mar-22 07:59:39

Good morning lovely fruits.
It’s been a couple of weeks since I posted and it’s not going great. Instead of my graph going down it’s creeping up.

I’m still filling in my food diary but it’s socialising that scuppers me. We have a friend who makes apple pies and he brings them whenever he comes over. I made a banana loaf yesterday and I always intend not having any but always do.

I’m always in awe of you all when I read your posts and do get inspiration from them. I really think I need to add a little more cardio into my excersise. I do yoga and Pilates so they are more toning than cardio.

I’m still determined to get into a dress I already own for a June wedding rather than buy a new one. So four pound to lose. Bit less of the red wine I think as well.
Love reading your posts you inspiring lot. Enjoy your week. ?
