NanKate glad your sister is negative. This heat can't be helping her. Hopefully she feels her old self soon.
My legs have been like tree trunks all week and my hands are swollen. Been drinking plenty of water and of course needing the loo more . I have put 2 lb on this week. I have stuck to my allowance so am putting it down to water retention. But I am fine with it.
Off to Digby on Tuesday a 4 hour train journey my brother is picking me up in Lincoln. I have travel assistance which is great. No worrying about finding the platforms and getting on the right train. Have 2 changes going and 1 back. Luckily time between trains to use the loo at the station as I don't really want to go on the train. Taking 2ls of water with me plus lunch.
Can't wait to see them as it's been a year. And looking forward to seeing their bungalow and new life. My daughter is taking me to the station was going to have a taxi but she offered. Taxi back on Friday as train doesn't get back until 6.30. When I know I am not far from the station will order the taxi. Saves me waiting.
Expect to put weight as well next week but I am going to enjoy being spoilt.
Have a good week everyone and hopefully some cooler weather. ?

I’m a Pear ? the sequel part 3 - Wow!
(1001 Posts)3 years 7 months ago on 08 May 2018 I started this thread for those who wanted to lose weight and have a healthier lifestyle. Many people have joined up and many pounds lost and a few gained.
We now have a small band of ‘regulars’ called Pears who have joined our ranks and they have brought new ideas and support. Many thanks girls what would I do without you all. I am so grateful you have stayed so loyal and been such good friends to us all.
Do join us the rules are simple.
Choose your own style of diet plan.
Check in regularly with a report of the highs and lows of the diet.
Have an occasional binge but get back on the wagon ASAP.
Pass on any useful diet tips.
So for example I started calorie counting with the NHS Diet Plan. I now eat what I like but make portion control my way of life.
You have nothing to lose, other than weight, on this thread.
Our new mantra is - Eat Less for Life.
So Onward and Downward Pears ??
Have a lovely week Whiff and forget the weight-watching!
We all need to treat ourselves after such a long period of pandemic and now the excessive heat.
There is no rhyme or reason with my weight loss - this week I have been really lethargic. I have had a couple of my 'funny turns' and have sat around a lot as it's been to hot to do anything really - the result = a loss of 1.2lb so where is the justice there?
I apologise to any of you that have really been disciplined but not lost as that is soul- destroying.
Hopefully it will be a bit cooler next week and I may be able to get out for my walks once again?
Good luck everyone whatever results we get we will stick together!
Four brilliant weight lose . The weather is to much. Problem is when we have rain it with be storms and there will be floods. Hope you feel better this week. Talking to friends with different health problems this hot weather is making them worse. Even the ones with arthritis and you would think it would make their joints feel better.
I intend to enjoy myself lots of ice cream to cool down well that's a good excuse. It's 28.5° in my living room with blackout curtains shut and fan on. ???
Good to know your sister is on the mend Nankate.
Have a good trip Whiff and thanks for sharing your diagnosis. I looked up HPX because I had not heard of it. Thank goodness you have a knowledgeable neurologist at last.
SachaMac I had a Border Terrier years ago, great little dog.
I finally got disciplined and lost 1.6 lbs.Long may it continue!
Have a great time with your brother whiff. Yes, that’s it when we have the thunderstorms which are forecasted there will be floods, but I got to say, I am looking forward to it….(the thunderstorms not the floods).
Glad sister is ok now nankate.
I put on 1 lb, could of been worse lol.
Have a good week guys.
Good morning all?. I'm glad your sister is on the mend NanKate. Congratulations to all those who seen the scales go down and commiserations to those who haven't! I put on a pound. Like Whiff I think some may have been down to fluid retention. I haven't strictly counted calories but heat meant didn't feel over hungry. Hopefully the weather will change as predicted this week. I'm never a fan of extreme heat but the past week has been totally draining! Have a lovely break Whiff . Good luck everyone!
Can anyone explain to me why, when it was unbearably hot I didn’t want to eat but now it’s cooled down I’ve just scoffed a load of cream crackers with butter on and had a glass of Vimto
? And I feel horrible ( I wasn’t even hungry!)
Initially I lost weight but like Maybe I have moments and eat what's in sight although not hungry. I am now heavier than when I started. I don't count calories just cut out sugar and fats, except for a small amount of low fat soread. I have had a lot of health issues this year and not able to get out with my friends and activities, so I am not burning calories.plus I just can't sleep Im lucky if I get 4/5 hours a night.
I have planned to have 250 calorie breakfast and lunch and 750'dinner as that's my weak times, plus fruit and milk in tea.
So,good that so many have losses, however small it's the right direction.
Whiff enjoying being spoilt for a while, so pleased it cooled down for your journey.
It’s a funny old business this weight loss/gain malarkey Allsorts. It’s good to see you not giving up but staying with us group of losers.
I always have a hungry patch at 4.30 and have found that if I have a small glass of Kefir it takes the pangs away. The key for me is not to drink too much Kefir.
Hope Whiff is having fun. ?
Hi all, hope you are all doing ok, thank goodness it’s cooled down a little, perhaps a little too much here!
I went to SW this morning and I am pleased to say I have lost 4lbs this week, it seems to finally be kicking in, so I will continue doing what I’m doing. I had the oat & banana pancakes again for breakfast and I do enjoy those.
Only problem I have now is my fridge freezer has conked out and I’ve had to throw an awful lot of stuff away! Always something to niggle us isn’t there.
I hope you are having a great time at your brothers Whiff enjoy, it must be lovely finally getting together.
You’re so right CocoPops Border terriers are lovely little dogs, proper characters and very loyal plus mine gets me out walking which has to be good.
Well done to everyone, keep going, as our consultant said this morning even at just 1lb a week we could lose 18lb by Christmas if we put our minds to it, food for thought. Enjoy the rest of the week whatever you’re all up to
Sachs 4lbs us a good result, well done. I need to lose initially one stone, I have lost a pound this week, it takes ages each pound loss is fought for, I usually make it to seven pounds loss then backslide, I mustn't this time. Even living seven pounds made me feel better about myself, now nothing fits as I'm an apple, my weight is round my middle and not a trouser or skirt can I do up.
I am going to reward myself with a treat for every month even if it's just a 2 lb loss. I started to reward myself before with chocolate or biscuits, will not do that again, it all piles back on so quickly.
I’ve been staying at my daughters for a week dog sitting and her house is full of stuff I daren't keep at home (crisps biscuits Vimto, ice cream etc). I’ve been quite good but last night I attacked the Nutella! Good job I’m back home again now.
I agree Allsorts even losing just a few pounds can make such a difference to how you feel & how your clothes fit. It is so much harder as we get older though, I never really had much belly fat until I hit the menopause but now that’s where it all seems to settle. I tend to treat myself to none foodie treats now, a nice book or magazine, a bunch of flowers or sone cosmetics.
You did well to resist the temptation at your daughters MayBee70 It sounds like the Nutella was calling your name as soon as you got back, I love the Biscotti spread but I find it so hard to resist, I just had to stop buying it!
Not gone up and not gone down. ?
Me too NanKate soooooooooo frustrating!!!
Well much to my surprise I weight the same as last week. I have eaten bread, biscuits, cake and ice cream with gay abandon. And loved every mouth full. Back to normal eating .
Love my brother and sister in law's bungalow. And got to know her dad really well. Digby is beautiful. Went to Lincoln cathedral and started in the guided tour but I couldn't just stand while he talked so we went round ourselves. I am ok on the move but just standing I wobble to much . Mind you my brother didn't tell us until we where enjoying cake and hot chocolate in the cafe. It was £9 or £7.20 for concessions. He asked what the concessions where anyone over 65. He said he was his wife's carer . So he got in free and charged £14.40. What a cheek my sister in law is 60 she was in her wheelchair as she can't walk long distances because of MS . I'm 64 and neither of us look out age.
We them went to a drive through ice shop on the farm it's made. It was heavenly. Never knew they did drive through ice shops.
Went to Woodhall Spa and saw the Dam busters memorial. Had lovely lunch. And my brother showed me where the officers and men who went on the raid stayed. Never realised there where 4 dams they had to bomb. One didn't get bombed bomber got shot down. The next one the bombs didn't hit the target but of course they blew the other 2 to bits. Also the dam busters did far more raids than I knew about. It was all on the memorial raid and date.
Aggie didn't wee outside when she met me but in the hall when she lay on her back all over my hand and her tummy as I rubbed it. But it's lovely she remembers me.
Went on some lovely walks and enjoyed picking veg from there allotment. They have a large garden which is flat . My brother is stripping it and putting down a large lawn and having a BBQ area. We went to a garden centre for lunch Friday and my sister in law was under strict instructions that she couldn't buy any plants yet. I didn't buy any plants but did buy some seed pots to grow in my greenhouse over winter.
Train journey both ways was lovely. Had travel assistance. 3 trains going and 2 back.
Well done to losers ,stay the same's and any who have put on it's a blip.
Have a lovely week ?
What a fabulous holiday you had Whiff and glad you enjoyed some treats. Thanks for telling us all about it.
Just as an aside - I found out that the daughter-in-law of Barnes Wallis who invented the bouncing bomb, is a member of my WI.
Good afternoon to you all,
Whiff I’m pleased you had a lovely week in Lincolnshire, some people malign my home county but I think it’s beautiful, from the big open skies of the fens to the rolling wolds at the northern end of the county. I think our cathedral is one of the most beautiful in the country too.
I’ve had a good week and am still maintaining at target weight. We go on holiday in a couple of weeks and when we get back I might have a crack at a further half stone off.
Hope you all have a good week
Good to know you enjoyed your holiday Whiff.
I've had a rotten cold since Thursday. You know the sort, aching all over, sore throat, cough and feeling really weak and dizzy with no appetite resulting in weight dropping to 130lbs which is my target. I wonder if I can maintain that....
Have a good week Pears.
Hi all, hope everyone’s ok and it’s a lovely sunny day where you are just like it is here.
So pleased you had a good holiday Whiff you have done well to maintain after thoroughly enjoying some nice treats by the sounds of things . Interesting to see the Dam busters memorial, Ladybower reservoir where they practiced is currently so low you can see the remains of the buildings of the flooded village.
Hope you’re feeling better CocoPops, there’s a lot of colds & sore throats going around at the moment.
I weigh in Tuesday morning this week so fingers crossed, doubt it will be anything like last weeks loss but I’ve tried hard so fingers crossed.
Have a great week all.
Sarah I had never been to Lincolnshire and it was beautiful. It's like Merseyside people only think about Liverpool city and don't realise how beautiful the county is. I live in a beautiful area. The people here are wonderful and found Lincolnshire people just as wonderful. In fact my brother is losing his Black Country accent . They have only been there since April. Like here they never had such brilliant health care. My sister in law's dad said he can't believe he wakes up to this view every morning. I definitely think the move has increased their life spans the same way I feel about my own move.
Cocopops I hope you feel better soon. I hate having a cold. Funny really I cope very well with my HPX and heart problems but a cold makes me miserable. Good luck with your new target weight.
SachaMac we had lunch in Jane's tearoom and it had a lot of pictures and items from WW2 and RAF items and pictures. Plus delicious food . Hope all goes well for your weigh in tomorrow.
Well done on the 4lbs weight loss sachamac.
That’s lovely you had a fine time whiff….and stayed the same, that’s great.
I stayed the same this week
Hope your cold has improved cocopops
Weather wise temperature is a lot better , one can get about more without dripping with sweat ??….or should I say glowing lol….it’s a lot more comfortable for getting around.
We are camping with the family next weekend…should be interesting in a tent ….with a bullmastiff ??. ….
Whiff, you've made me want to visit Lincolnshire. Your trip sounds as if you had a great time.
I have lost just a pound and I have been hood, except for two Chocolate ices and a cookie at the weekend.
Shirley, hope you get on in a tent with a bull mastiff, you are more resilient than me.
Shirley have a lovely holiday.
Allsorts well done losing the pound. Can't remember but I think you have to eat 3,500 cals less a week to lose a pound. Slow and steady is the best way to lose weight. That way your body gets used to less food. A treat doesn't hurt that way you satisfy any craving. Four has sinday as she calls Sunday to have a treat . Mine is Wednesday and sometimes Thursday as well if I feel like it. A biscuit after exercise class and at craft group.
I hadn't been to Lincolnshire before it is beautiful. And easy to get to via train with travel assistance. To get to the cathedral you need at a car or very good legs as it's on top of a big hill. But well worth a visit.
If anyone is interested in making Easiyo yogurt Lakeland have an offer on buy a box of mixes and get the maker for £1 instead of £17.99.
That is an absolute bargain Whiff I have a small Easiyo yoghurt maker & love it, I tend to make the plain Greek but I also like the coconut. At that price I might get one as a present for my sister, I know she hasn't got one.
Enjoy the camping trip ShirleyW the dog will keep you all warm at night
Well done on your 1lb Allsorts I only lost half a pound this week, it’s a loss I know but slightly disappointing. I’m determined to keep going though. I saw a lady I’ve not seen for ages this morning, she is now at her target weight & looks amazing, I saw such a difference in her. She told me it’s taken her nearly three years on and off to do it, just shows it can be done & sometimes slow & steady does win the race.
Have a great bank holiday weekend all.
