On 08 May 2018 I started this thread for those who wanted to lose weight and have a healthier lifestyle. Many people have joined up and many pounds lost and a few gained.

We now have a small band of ‘regulars’ called Pears and Apples who have joined our ranks and they have brought new ideas and support. Many thanks girls what would I do without you all. I am so grateful you have stayed so loyal and been such good friends to us all.

Do join us the rules are simple.

Choose your own style of diet plan.

Check in regularly with a report of the highs and lows of the diet.

Have an occasional binge but get back on the wagon ASAP.
Pass on any useful diet tips.

So for example I started calorie counting with the NHS Diet Plan. I now eat what I like but make portion control my way of life.

You have nothing to lose, other than weight, on this thread.

Our mantra is - Eat Less for Life.

That’s well good sachamac….gosh, 9 and a half syncs for a crème egg lol…but it is doable if all the rest is free…says she lol…...I’d rather the crème egg than a hot cross bun without butter….think the weather is gonna be pretty decent over this Easter weekend…hope you all have a good Easter.

Shirleyw Thu 06-Apr-23 21:56:24

….sorry cocoa forgot to say Im Sure you will lose the 7lbs before DS arrives for summer, that will be nice that he is coming over…..what’s the weather like with you?

CocoPops Fri 07-Apr-23 01:44:14

April showers for the next 7 days here Shirley with temperatures between 12 and 15°.

Shirleyw Fri 07-Apr-23 03:46:07

Aah, very similar to here then cocoa….

Whiff Fri 07-Apr-23 07:22:37

SachaMac an other good loss. I would rather have a hot cross bun with spread than a creme egg. I used to love them but find them to sweet now. I love the apple and cinnamon + buns. They don't need spread.

Cocopops welcome back . That's the thing our group pears we don't give up. Look forward to hearing your news.

Shirley there seems more flavours of hot cross buns this year. But then again you can get them all year round. I much preferred it when you could only get them at Easter that way it was a treat.

My daughter and family brought me a Lindt bunny on Monday it went by Wednesday I can't keep chocolate if it's mine🤦. My brownies and apple cake went down well at my craft group yesterday. Had my piece of brownie. I always make enough so people can take some home if they want to. Glad to say it all goes.

Never do anything special for Easter to me it's just another weekend. Hope it's nice tomorrow and I will go into the garden .. More weeding and should have more kale, chard and rocket to harvest.

Not going to craft on Thursday as I have my grandson for the day his brother will be at nursery. We are making strawberry and white chocolate biscuits . Then plenty of veg seeds to plant and get into my greenhouse. After lunch a walk to the local Methodist church they have a free library . Sorted some books to donate and my grandson can choose a book for himself and his brother.

We went to the Easter egg hunt on Monday . Just had a thought have I already said this. Can't go back a page or I will loose this . Never mind will write about it again. Last year they put out 700 eggs. Think some didn't got found and rotted. This year they used card egg shapes. Each child was allowed to get 10 then swap them for a chocolate egg. Then they could find 10 more. My daughter just let the boys have 10 each. There where free cakes , biscuits and drinks. Children could decorate biscuits and make an Easter scene. Colour in a bunny and attach it to a lolly stick and make a caterpillar from circles and heart shapes and stick on eyes. The youngest wanted to stay with me. A little girl showed me how to make a caterpillar and my grandson put eyes on both sides. There where sunflower seeds to plant and take home. I was asked what to do. So much for my husband saying I had a black thumb. He would be amazed at my garden, just sad he never lived to be the grandad he always wanted to be. But that's life . Fit and healthy get cancer and die young and old crocks like me who was born disabled live on. But I live my life to the full as I promised him I would. And my grandson's with my daughter will know all about him.. Her oldest already asks about him. My only hope is my son tells his boys but I will never know.

Anyone have a lovely Easter everyone and hope the sun shines..

Hi All Congratulations for those losses and to all of us for keeping on going! I'm so chuffed as I have hit my target weight. It's taken months of eating what I fancy but cutting portions and a couple of days a week planning deliberately lower calorie lighter meals. It's really worked and I find my "palate" has changed. Cravings for sweet stuff calmed down, so can cope with 1 chocolate now and then! Long may it last eh!

Whiff Fri 07-Apr-23 09:58:40

Madgran brilliant news. Now comes the hard part keeping it off. 🥂🌹

TillyTrotter Fri 07-Apr-23 11:16:53

Congrats Madgran You seem to have it sussed.
The Easter egg hunt sounded fun Whiff Lindt bunnies sum up Easter for me 🐰

SachaMac Fri 07-Apr-23 12:44:34

Well done Madgran that’s brilliant news,, no wonder you are chuffed.
Welcome back Cocopops and good luck.
The Lindt bunnies are hard to resist WhiffI managed to pick a vegan one up this year for my friend, he is wrapped in green foil rather than the usual gold, Hope he tastes as good as the usual ones.
Enjoy the the sunshine all…and your Easter treats (think I’m going for a blueberry and lemon Hot Cross Bun) smile

VioletSky Fri 07-Apr-23 22:47:21

Well done Madgran

I hope to join you

Hi everyone. Can someone tell me about the NHS weight loss plan please. Do you have accountability to anyone, as I think I need a bit of that.

I’ve done Weight Watchers and it worked for me at the time - although I’ve put it all back on again 5 years later. Slimming clubs have become expensive a bit too cult-like for me
I’ll be grateful for any advice and support to get me going on shifting this weight and sorting out my poor eating

NanKate Sat 08-Apr-23 16:55:10

Hello StrongCoffee. I did the NHS Plan some years back but there was no accountability.

NanKate Sat 08-Apr-23 16:56:55

Well done MadGran just seen your post 💐🥳💃👍

I am one happy Easter Bunny having lost 2lbs. Mind you it's part of what I added last week and the week before but at least it's progress at last.
Have a Happy Easter everyone - we have Easter Sunday treats and our GD birthday tea today so I will have to be good all next week as I want to keep that 2lb off!

Whiff Sun 09-Apr-23 12:37:02

Happy Easter everyone. Brilliant loss Four especially with so many treats around. Love the picture. Have a great time at the birthday party.

Welcome StrongCoffee hope you enjoy being here.

Shock horror 😲. My weight has stayed the same. No idea why. Had a bit of a week after the Easter egg hunt. So have eaten my Lindt bunny, other chocolate, brownie ,slice of my apple cake and a curly whirly which I haven't had for years but one of my crafter's brought some in . Plus devoured the tub of ice cream 360 cals the tub it was delicious chocolate
I expected to put on 3lb. But no the scales stayed the same . Even checked the battery and that was fine.

But back to being strict with myself. Made 8.5lb cherry jam this morning. Tomorrow into the garden weeding and sorting out my seeds to plant with my grandson on Thursday as I have him for the day. Making biscuits before seed planting.

Hope you all have the sunshine and enjoying yourselves. 🐰🐣🐇🥚

Shirleyw Mon 10-Apr-23 05:35:19

Well done fourormore, that’s a good loss, especially around Easter. Like you whiff I also maintained….

MayBee70 Wed 12-Apr-23 18:48:34

My son and his family stayed with us last week and, as expected, I put on pounds. Even so I still think that during that week I ate less than most people do! I can’t seem to get back on track because my iPad broke which stressed me out as I depend totally on it for everything ( I’m away from home) and I haven’t been doing the walking I’d planned as my back is sore ( it’s also raining a lot).Last time I was here it was my knee which is fine now. Going to try to eat better, exercise more and go back on 16:8 next week before I go home.

fourormore Thu 13-Apr-23 09:24:04

Bless you MayBee - I know exactly how you feel - the world conspires against us sometimes doesn't it!
Much as we love having family visit and social events to go to, these things sabotage our efforts.
I've not done my walking this week due to various tradesmen and other commitments keeping me home - then when I was free it was stair-rodding it down.
We WILL get back into the swing of things - I have had a couple of successes recently but this week may scupper it?
The main thing is to be aware that we won't succeed every time, we will fall off the wagon but we will hang on!
Good luck everyone x

TillyTrotter Thu 13-Apr-23 10:09:01

Hi everyone, congrats to those who have lost, and commiserations to those who have put on. Easter is a hard time to watch what you eat and so are the times of year when you celebrate Birthdays with meals and drinks.
It is the way of things but we can work round it.
I was stagnant for a couple of weeks, then put on 2 lb, then another 2 but I have reined it in and can report a 2 lb Loss this week.
Relieved and pleased. Also no more chocolate bunnies or truffles hanging around so I will March on towards another small loss next week.
Keep going - this is about the journey And the destination.

MayBee70 Thu 13-Apr-23 10:58:51

Bread is still my downfall. A local veggie shop sells wonderful artisan bread ( which Tim Spector says is good for you) but I can’t resist eating huge slices of it covered in butter! I must try to go bread free next week.

MayBee70 Fri 14-Apr-23 18:18:51

Does anyone else not find soup at all filling? I’m trying to use up a lot of fresh food so am eating a lot of soup but I never feel as if I’ve had a proper meal. Years ago I saw a programme that said soup was very filling and staves off hunger more than other meals do but it doesn’t work for me!

CocoPops Sat 15-Apr-23 16:13:07

Just 1/2 lb off this week. Battle on ladies.

SachaMac Sat 15-Apr-23 18:23:13

It’s a gain for me too this week. I’m afraid I lost the plot a little over the Easter weekend and put on 1.5lbs. Back on it now, it’s made me even more determined, shows how quickly you can put it back on even when you have only gone a littler off the rails. Well done to all those of our group who managed to lose or maintain over Easter. On we go, have a good week everyone.

VioletSky Sat 15-Apr-23 18:54:28

I don't want to know, 2 weeks off work

I'll weigh after my first week back

fourormore Sun 16-Apr-23 12:00:06

Stayed the same this week which I'm happy with following Easter treats.
The weather looks a bit more promising this week so hopefully decent walks will be on the agenda?
Must get disciplined again - have discovered too many excuses haha!!!
Good luck everyone as we plod on!
Enjoy your time off VioletSky
