I actually think this is amazing, people have come together to live by a moral code as people who do not have a god or a messiah etc are also apt to do.

I'm a little disappointed that I can't get a real light saber though

rosecarmel -- Perhaps that is the case. My husband and I had moved on from Christianity and adopted the standards of the Jedi long before We new that others were doing the same and some had even taken to the time to write some of the tenets down.

Once We realized that some actually DO identify with it as a faith/religion We just started to call it that.

Starblaze -- The person who has the highest power over Us is Ourselves... Hence there is no need for a leader/Messiah etc. in the Jedi faith.

Neither of our families succeeded in extinguishing Our light and I think that fuels their dislike of Us. "After all We did to You, You are still happy??? Where's the anger? Where's the rage you should have?"

Anger, hate and rage are the emotions We grew up around and saw as so destructive to the 'family'. We didn't want to be 'like them' so we turned away from the Dark Side and learned to nurture the positive emotions within Ourselves.

The more I think on it, the more I feel like our destiny was to become Jedi or a moral thinking person or whatever label someone wants to put on "it". Then We found each other...

Apologise for what exactly Starblaze? I thought HH was joking when she said she was a Jedi so responded in kind. Perhaps you missed that part of the conversation.

Smileless I'm never really sure what it is you are so bitter and angry about but there isn't much I can do to help you in your situation at all I'm afraid.

I actually think that Smileless is the least bitter, least angry, most conciliatory, most supportive person on any estrangement thread!

Given her situation, that speaks volumes to all who give her a hard time and rarely think outside your own ongoing difficulties.

Starblaze -- It's interesting that some people can reach certain milestones in life and not grasp the most basic of civilities...

If you make what you think is a 'joke' and the recipient says, "That's not funny..." and gives a reason like, "That IS my actual 'religion'..." most would usually say, "I'm sorry if I offended. I really thought it was a joke." I'd say, "No biggie. When people do first hear the concept I can 'get' why some might think it's a 'joke'. Have a good one." and that would be 'it'.

Much like if someone made a joke about cancer or that woman with no hair look 'odd' or something like that... My best friends wife is going through cancer treatments and I wouldn't find that funny either. I would ASSUME most would also apologize for saying something that insensitive about cancer treatments around Me...

I guess my arrogance is showing...

Someone who describes any disagreement with them as "waving a red rag in front of a bull" and everybody around them that has known them for 'that long' should know THAT and that they will NEVER apologize because THEY have done "nothing wrong"... might not BE exactly the most "reasonable" individual I can think of...
