Not to.

HolyHannah Thu 09-Jul-20 01:29:54

Dear 'deity of choice'... That is scary and so a NOT.

"Drive you insane"... Well congrats to my Ma on 'that'.

Surely it is ironic and can be taken as such?

Witzend Thu 09-Jul-20 09:02:28

Given the ‘mom’, I’m assuming it’s from across the pond and therefore probably not ironic at all.

BTW I do know that ‘mom’ is usual in parts of the U.K., too, but to me the whole thing just has an American flavour.

Smileless2012 Thu 09-Jul-20 09:06:25

Very sad.

Starblaze Thu 09-Jul-20 09:09:41

Came from my Facebook newsfeed (British), I didn't comment that I thought it was bonkers but a lot of people liked/loved it.

Missfoodlove Thu 09-Jul-20 10:28:21

Cringe worthy rubbish.

Smileless2012 Thu 09-Jul-20 13:46:18

Yes it is Missfoodlove and there's certainly a lot of it on line.

Starblaze Thu 09-Jul-20 14:37:31

How is any of this love? How can you bring up a child like this and let them go off into the world thinking its OK for their future relationships to be anything like this?

Its just baffling to me. Society has issues

Grannybags Thu 09-Jul-20 14:57:00

That's just weird

3nanny6 Thu 09-Jul-20 15:07:01

Very Sentimental to give to your child. Not it is stupid rubbish and should be viewed that way.

HolyHannah Thu 09-Jul-20 15:11:01

The first two lines are fine... It's the rest that is cringe worthy.

BlueBelle Thu 09-Jul-20 15:11:38

‘Flip out on you’ what sort of language is that
Definitely sounds like American rubbish to my ears

Bumboseat1 Thu 09-Jul-20 15:22:25

Good god. What a load of rubbish ! Flip you out what the hell does that mean!

HolyHannah Thu 09-Jul-20 15:27:52

To "flip out on" means to get 'stupid mad'/irrationally angry or over the top dramatic in expression of anger.

Chewbacca Thu 09-Jul-20 15:29:47

Completely agree BlueBelle. It's just psycho babble drivel.

Madgran77 Thu 09-Jul-20 15:38:29

Daft! Don't think its meant to be serious. Nor do I think it is funny. Psycho babble is a good description.

i prefer Khalil Gibran,

On Children

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.

by Khalil Gibran

Madgran77 Thu 09-Jul-20 17:20:37

Jomarie Thu 09-Jul-20 19:16:28

Yes - thank you so much for that - I will pass this on to my DD and DSs all of whom have young children - might strike a chord with at least one of them grin

Blinko Thu 09-Jul-20 19:21:42
