Washing all my bedding as my hand wound bleed profusely during the night. It's scabbed over now, so I think I'll live. hmm

Smileless2012 Tue 19-Nov-24 10:53:53

That must have been a real worry Yogin. It's horrible when you know someone's on their way home, you know what time to expect them, and they don't arrive. Even more worrying when they're on a motor bike.

November 16th, a big date for us both. Mr. S. was 71!!! and it's also the date of our youngest EGC's birthday; not easy for our ES to forget when they're celebrating their son's birthday that it's also his father's hmm.

I don't like the sound of that. You really should get that cut checked out, it shouldn't have bled profusely during the night. I'll be asking you later if it's OK; am I nagging, you bet I am grin.

Well now we know DL an apple and a fizzy drink; you learn something every day don't you. Got a mental image of someone sitting on a stool, fingers poised over the keys as the piano slid away grin.

Allsorts Tue 19-Nov-24 16:10:48

Yoga,Whenever I have a cut or bad graze , I soak it in Surgical spirit, and if it doesn't look a funny colour all well. I personally wouldn't worry about it bleeding the once. All about not getting germs in.
Smileless, is Mr S now your sugar daddy now hes reached 71😬

you will be fine.

Smileless2012 Tue 19-Nov-24 16:16:50

grin I'll get back to you on that one Allsorts.

I’m on blood thinners, as was DH. One simple little scratch used to result in blood up the walls lol 😳😳

I just whack some plasters on and leave it a few days. 🙂

Smileless2012 Tue 19-Nov-24 18:27:59

You've reminded me of when we were first married and I was on blood thinners due to a DVT DL. I nicked myself when shaving my legs and it just wouldn't stop. What was even more disconcerting was the blood was more like water, so thin and virtually colourless shock.

When I saw our GP the following day (those were the days) he decided that the dosage was too high and needed to be drastically reduced.

I remember thinking, if I'd been involved in a car accident I'd probably have bled to death even before the ambulance managed to get there.

Babs03 Tue 19-Nov-24 18:41:33

Glad to be back. Hope Whiff joins us soon.
Have missed this.

Babs03 Tue 19-Nov-24 18:43:36

Yogi, sorry about your hand, I once stabbed my hand when cutting butternut squash, my DH ran in the kitchen then promptly slumped onto the floor, he can’t stand the sight of blood 🩸
Hope your hand recovers soon 🌷

Babs03 Tue 19-Nov-24 18:47:58

Smileless my DH is 74 soon, your DH is still a young buck!!
And I know how it must sting when his special day is the same day as your GC.
Missing them doesn’t get easier we just accommodate the hurt and get on with our lives.
Hope he enjoyed it.
Take care 🌷

Babs03 Tue 19-Nov-24 18:52:17

Allsorts and Sparkly, good to read your posts when not many were present.
Kept me going.

Yes, it’s great fun here with a little scratch. 😳😳 I walk around covered in plasters, but the nick is usually a tiny little spot lol

If I go to the dentist, or anything else, I have to leave off the blood thinners for a week. 🙄

Babs03 Tue 19-Nov-24 19:58:47

@DL a friend of mine went for eye surgery but they didn't tell her or ask her about the blood thinners, she bled a lot immediately so they made sure she was ok and sent her home, they couldn't continue with the surgery and didn't call her again for another 3 months, but at least this time she was aware of the blood thinners and thankfully they remembered to ask.
Not a pleasant experience.
xx

Smileless2012 Tue 19-Nov-24 20:24:56

I'll tell him Babs; he'll be thrilled grin. He did enjoy the day, we both did smile and it's just great that we can and we do.

SparklyGrandma Tue 19-Nov-24 23:28:14

Smileless that sounds nerve wracking. Blood thinners, argh.

Babs03 I am glad all are back here now. Happy to keep posting and Allsorts and I had fun doing posts.

We’ve had snow here today. I let my cats out this morning, when there was 30 minutes of heavy snowing.
They went out, got their paws wet and freezing and promptly dashed back inside.
I’ve had a migraine all day, which means I can’t have the heating on but we are cuddled up either on my green soft sofa, or on my bed on a green large velour throw…

Have a good nights sleep fellow estrangees zzzzzzzzz.

DiamondLily Wed 20-Nov-24 12:12:57

Good morning everyone.

Good to see the GN server is back up and running. I wondered what was happening earlier.

Hope everyone has a nice day. x💐

Babs03 Wed 20-Nov-24 12:19:53

Morning all.
Freezing weather here, no snow - bet your cats hated it sparkly, mine used to, with one rascal I would open the door for her to go out only for her to back up against me then scoot back inside.
Tbh I feel the same way 😂but have managed a long walk with DH punctuated by a hot chocolate with marshmallows.
Friends coming down this weekend so getting everywhere ship shape and cooking up a storm. Am sure they won’t mind the cold weather too much seeing as they are from Lancashire and think we have become soppy southerners.

Smileless2012 Wed 20-Nov-24 12:37:08

Me too DL, it was down for sometime so well done GN for getting it up and running again.

Our dogs are no better than your cats Sparkly, and they have nice warm coats and jumpers to wear grin.

Hope you've got over your migraine, they are horrible aren't they flowers.

It's something to look forward too isn't it Babs, having friends to stay. Thanks to my lovely S who was here last week, I now know how to use my wm/dryer for drying only which has been a real bonus today and saved me going to the shed in the snow.

There's nothing soppy about us born and bred southerners, just ask Mr. S. gringrin

DiamondLily Wed 20-Nov-24 13:18:37

I’m quite happy being a soppy, soft Southerner - this cold weather gives me something to moan about…😂😂

Mind you, I did have to laugh yesterday - there was approx 10 little snowflakes that fell here in London yesterday, and the usual doom mongers were swiftly out, pondering if it would affect transport lol 🙄

Smileless2012 Wed 20-Nov-24 13:39:39

You see DL it's people like that who give us southerners a bad name grin.

I saw that too DL and had to giggle. 😄

Migraines, Smileless arghhh. I saw you love Tudors, I watched The Spanish Princess on Prime at the weekend, then The Mirror and The Light on Sunday. Full immersion and very enjoyable.

Estrangement; at 1pm on the 26th next week, Jeremy Vine does a show on estrangement.

SparklyGrandma Wed 20-Nov-24 16:41:51

Lovely dogs with coats, Smileless..the snow has gone though it was crisp and icy overnight.
The cats have gone out for a constitutional, a sniff around. I follow some US cats pages on FB and some Americans take their cats out in their cars and motor homes.

I tried putting a harness on mine in their first year. One got out of hers in about 2-3 seconds. Same with her body suit post spay operation.

Have a lovely evening.

Hi to everyone- good to see the sense of humour persists! Enjoy reading the posts when have time to catch up. Sad day this week. A friend’s EC has died and the family have said they are not to go to the funeral. Legally anyone could go but my friend doesn’t want to cause any upset so will watch it with them via a live link. Will be very hard but am mentioning this as it could happen to any of us. Afterwards the plan is to go for a meal and we will raise a glass to celebrate the life of the EC. Just about the only positive is that it brings closure for my friend….or maybe not? Even when we realise is no hope of a reconciliation, perhaps some part of us still longs for this, until it becomes impossible. But today am simply sitting with the thought that in a tough world is so sad people knowingly hurt others. Both big picture (wars) and in families. What does it take for kindness/compassion/forgiveness to win…

Smileless2012 Wed 20-Nov-24 16:46:31

I'll have to watch 'The Mirror and the Light' on IPlayer Sparkly. Thanks for letting us know about Jeremy Vine's show next week.

What I love about the dogs wearing warm coats and/or jumpers is that their little bodies are all warm when they come in, and you take them off smile.
