Good grief GSH aren't you a tad over invested in this? Does it really matter?

The original post didn’t make any sense at all and am still none the wiser now.
I have no elephants ( in the room or out of it) to share thanks.

MissAdventure Wed 05-Jan-22 20:50:37

smile
Great, isn't it?
That's what happens when you have an elephant in the room.

AreWeThereYet Wed 05-Jan-22 20:53:31

I have a white elephant in the room. A very expensive, unwanted gift from someone who should have known better. Possibly it was revenge for something we bought her. I haven't been able to ditch it yet, but maybe this year we will find someone who likes it.

Chewbacca Wed 05-Jan-22 20:56:42

I'm glad I haven't got an elephant in the room. That damned cat makes a big enough mess.....

Blossoming Wed 05-Jan-22 21:01:29

Did acknowledging the elephant and bringing it out into the open help you Serendipity? I don’t want to know what your elephant is, just wether you found mentioning it a positive or a negative experience.

We have a wooden and brass Kiwi- shall we swap?

I suspect you have been ‘faking it’ all these years ….orgasm, I mean ?

VANECAM Wed 05-Jan-22 22:04:30

30 years of keeping an elephant in the room!

This is not healthy and shouldn’t be encouraged.

The answer, surely, is the stop feeding it.

(though this may lead to a very large skeleton in the cupboard).

MissAdventure Wed 05-Jan-22 22:10:54

Elephants, skeletons, orgasms.. smile

SueDonim Wed 05-Jan-22 22:11:28

MissAdventure

I've let a cat out of a bag, before.
It was an elephant in the room until then.

And did the worm turn? grin

MayBeMaw Wed 05-Jan-22 22:11:34

My apologies if this is obvious to others, but what does it (whatever IT is) have to do with Everyday Ageism?
confusedconfused

Hetty58 Wed 05-Jan-22 22:14:00

AreWeThereYet, I had the expensive (ugly) unwanted gift on display problem too. One day, I dropped it (from a great height - involving a ladder) - and blamed the cat. Guilty? Nope!

MissAdventure Wed 05-Jan-22 22:14:34

They went away with a flea in their ear, *SueDomin"

MissAdventure Wed 05-Jan-22 22:16:46

Oh dear.
Fingers, eyes, all failing.

Chewbacca Wed 05-Jan-22 22:23:18

Well, you made a dog's breakfast of that MissAdventure!

mamaa Wed 05-Jan-22 22:26:10

My mum would never have those wooden elephant ornaments in the house- said they were unlucky- said same about peacock feathers too…so no elephants or peacocks in our room…

MissAdventure Wed 05-Jan-22 22:28:42

I used to have a big china elephant with a space on it's back for a plant.
The family always took the micky out of it, though.
I gave it to a charity shop, but I shouldn't have listened to others.

Gajahgran Wed 05-Jan-22 22:34:42

I collect items in an elephant design, i. e tables, chairs, candlesticks etc so it's a bit difficult not to have an elephant in the room.
I thought that "having an elephant in the room" meant something that was blatantly obvious but was never actually spoken of. Not actually secret.

VANECAM Wed 05-Jan-22 22:49:34

Indian Elephants. Tick
African Elephants. Tick

Chinese Elephants ?

SueDonim Wed 05-Jan-22 22:50:20

Well, you made a dog's breakfast of that MissAdventure!

I guess you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.
