Before you die

It would be silly not to regret anything, like you had the perfect life and nothing went wrong.

Why is it silly? Regret is utterly pointless. It's does no good whatsoever.

I shall just be sorry not to know what happens next, good or bad. Life is an unending story, both in the personal and public realms.

I have been so fortunate with my friends and family, so no regrets there.
I have recently remodelled a large part of my garden, removing some mature shrubs and replacing them with young plants of my own choosing. If I were to die tomorrow I would be sad that I hadn’t seen my design mature.

Regrets are pointless though There’s loads of things I wish I d done /tried there’s loads of things I wish I hadn’t done but I can do diddly squit about it so I refuse to even consider wasting my time with it

I'm not dying till I want to. At least that's the plan!

It makes you realise you could have done things differently? I suppose this hasn't much to do with dying but everything to do with living.

I would like my paperwork, etc., to be up to date, and there to be no dirty washing. I would also like the house to have been cleaned just before.

As we have bought our kids a home, a car, most of the grandkids stuff. I think my regrets would be not completing my travel list and completing a course that I had started a while back. I stopped when our grandchildren were small. Apart from that, possibly write a book.

I agree Romola. I'm furious that I won't know what happens to the world.

I'm not furious but I do find myself wondering how such & such will go and I'll be annoyed not to find it about whatever it is happening when I've died.
Of course, there's no end to that, as more things keep cropping up.

Maybe you could write letters individually to each of your children with some nice or notable memories and telling them how much you love them.
You could leave these letters among your papers to be discovered as and when they go through them.
Then you can relax.
And maybe make some charitable donations re your other impulses.
Perhaps sponsor a goat for a poor family in Sudan and gift that donation in the name of a young relative.
So they would get the updates and encourage them to be interested in such things too.
This would link your 2 priorities of love for your family and concern for others less fortunate.

I have been estranged from my daughter in years. Hopefully that will be over soon. I’d hate to die and never to see her again. 💔

So sad. If you are regretting it now can’t you do something about it?
Instead of leaving a letter, after the event as others have suggested, why not write one now?

I am very focussed on this right now as I am in the process of sorting paperwork and memorabilia and trying to have everything in order whilst I am able to. If I were to become physically incapacitated before it is done, I would regret it. If mentally incapacitated, it would leave much unfinished business for my family/ executors. Some legal issues since my husband’s death are still dragging on after two years, and that also includes legal issues from his mother’s death ten years previously, which we don’t want another generation to have to deal with.

I'll keep repenting and believing in the eternal life that Jesus offers

Charleygirl I'm with you but seeing as I am sinking under the weight of paperwork and filing at the moment I think I need another 20 years at least!

I will hang on until the Harry, Megan make it up with the king, Camilla and William. That could be a long time!!!!

I agree,either we won't be able to worry about it could be the start of a whole new adventure. Everyone has their own faith,and I respect all of that wholeheartedly,but for me I'll wait and see
