Fish fingers

Yes annep1 just chop and freeze.
I'm luck to be able to shop every day if I wanted to as all major supermarkets are within easy reach as are daily street markets and greengrocers etc but there are times when I've bought more fresh veg than I can use on the day so I chop n freeze in sealable bags (air squashed out) or small tubs.
Bought 3 large punnets of raspberries at £3 each in Tesco, froze them on flat sheets so they were separated then tipped into plastic tub with airtight lid. I'll use over Christmas and cheaper than buying ready frozen which are pricier and smaller.

Well tonight DH and I had ...... wait for it..... fish fingers, peas and tinned potatoes (lightly fried) for supper. Served with lashings of bread and butter and tomato ketchup . We both thoroughly enjoyed it .

I knew that tin of spuds would come in handy one day. ........ Shhhh don’t tell DH that they were 2 years out of date or he will pretend to feel ill tomorrow

Oh you are brave Gillybob. I would be like your husband. I put labels on everything in the fridge and food cupboards to remind me. Tins have use by dates on too.

gillybob - Mr R would eat food totally out of date - and never suffers for it (so far!) It's me who never chances it.

I never worry about dates. My DS, however, clears out my cupboards and fridge when he comes

I never worry about dates on tinned stuff but obviously there are many things I wouldn't eat even a day out of date.

Those little spuds were really lovely lightly fried/browned off and DH said he thoroughly enjoyed our "make do and mend" supper. He would have never eaten them had he known but what he doesn't know, he doesn't need to worry about

Actually, thinking about it, I could be wrong, but I am sure the date on the tinned spuds was a "best before" date which is very different form a "use by" date.

I shall make sure I get some of those M&S fish fingers and mini rolls today (I like the wholemeal ones). Are they in the chilled or freezer section?

By the way, my DGDs absolutely adore the M&S Posh Puppies (mini hot dog sausages with a lovely smokey flavour) in those little white sub rolls.

Well, am so disappointed. No fish fingers at all in my M&S food shop as the freezer was broken - and I had made a special journey!

Tough for me too annepl! I went looking for the gluten free fish fingers in my local M&S but was in a hurry........couldn't see them so bought 3 gluten free boxes of chicken fillets (3 for £10).......and had 1 box for dinner that night (with new potatoes and carrot and pea medley........ooh posh........ but just when carrots are nearly ready add some frozen peas) The chicken was delicious and the coating too. Even Mr R ate it but didn't tell him gluten free until after.

Ooh I feel an M&S shopping spree coming on!
