Mine in a topical one .
I have never eaten turkey.

When I was a child we had a capon at Christmas for some reason . I haven’t ever heard of one since ? Did I imagine it ?

From the age of about 18 I stopped eating meat and will now never taste it .

I have never eaten eels, just the look of them is enough to put me off.
I have eaten kidney but refuse to eat it ever again. Life is too short to eat offal especially organs that have filtered wee.

I cannot believe my joke about a capon being a castrated cockerel has attracted the attention of the trans contingent.
What will the thought police be censoring next?

Oh I'm pleased you explained!

I had no idea what on earth the deleted post was about!

Have never eaten (and never would) snails, eels, oysters, frogs, tripe, raw fish, or grubs or insects of any sort. The thought of it makes me cringe. I don't like garlic either, or tomatoes but I will eat tomato soup if I really have to.

Anything slimey. Snails, eels, frogs legs, oysters, cockles, yuk and sushi and steak tartare and undercooked bloody meat. Now I feel sick!!!

Onions, offal and oysters.

Anchovies because they taste disgusting. Camembert because the smell makes me vomit.

I will try most things once even though it has taken me years to pluck up courage to try them - oysters (love them), snails (ok but don't see the point of eating them) - but will never try frogs legs. Thy just look too much like the real thing to me.

I would never eat sushi, snails, offal, crab, lobster, shellfish in general really, eels, tripe pork belly.
Not for any reason other than the foods don`t look appetising.

How strange! Capons are indeed neutered cockerels but it’s now illegal in the UK. They are either chemically castrated using hormones or physically castrated and the process produces a plump bird for the table. They are still produced in mainland Europe.

Tripe & nuts. I can handle salted peanuts but any other nut not a chance.
I think it is being called Hazel. I spent my school days being called Hazelnut!

Greyduster Tue 10-Nov-20 10:38:15

Oh, and sweetbreads!?

Quaver22 Tue 10-Nov-20 10:44:41

Tomato sauce. Just the sight of it turns my stomach!

I never fancied muscles, although Dad and my brothers loved them.

My mother used to cook them in an old pan on the open fire, I remember clearly.

stormy54 Tue 10-Nov-20 10:59:19

Tripe, why not? Why would you? confused

Kim19 Tue 10-Nov-20 11:04:45

Poor old tripe. Has such a bad press. I absolutely love it.

Oh, fried ‘muscles’.

Yummy, I’m sure.

We’re they still attached to the muscley men, I wonder?

Many, many years ago, in my 20s, I ordered Carpaccio in Italy, having no clue that this was raw beef. I didn't have the nerve to admit my naivete, so I gamely ate it, trying to ignore the fact that it was uncooked. I seem to remember it was actually very tasty, but I have never eaten it since, and never will again.

Brain - Took some from a carvery in Turkey once by mistake. When I actually realised what it was I had to cover it with lettuce to stop me throwing up!

Sweetbreads - absolutely not.
snails - not even if I were starving!
tripe - tried it once, not a fan.
Frogs legs - just no.
Eels - no
Oysters - I would eat them if they were cooked.
Insects - definitely not.

Other than that I'll eat pretty much anything. I love sushi, rare steak, liver and seafood .

I would like to try a Capon, we are having chicken instead of turkey this year so I'll see if I can find one.

Calendargirl surely you mean “were” not “we’re” grin

Karma’s a bitch.

Gwenisgreat1 Tue 10-Nov-20 11:13:04

Tripe!! just looking at it - yeuch!! Japanese food with raw fish or meat.

TrixieB Tue 10-Nov-20 11:13:18

Faggots and tripe are on my food hate list!

petra

You don't have to eat oysters raw. You can deeep fry them in a tempura batter.

Or eat them smoked

Spangler Tue 10-Nov-20 11:20:35

Many comments about shell fish. It's strange, some friends that I know avoid shell fish yet they will eat, and enjoy, paella.
