I shop occasionally on line for Sainsbury’s food and usually get a good delivery time and date. Unfortunately I’m always having to amend the list however they’re so good at changing my shopping list in good time, I find great pleasure in this type of shopping especially as I’m unable to get out and about as necessary.

I find I’ve to reign in my eagerness because I could shop until I drop.

I did it during lockdown but was overspending every week just to reach the minimum amount for delivery. I live alone and don’t need that much.
I’ve gone back to going to the shops now.

I also find that Alexa can be helpful. I ask her to add things to my shopping list as I think of them, and then add them to the supermarket shop online. I think there’s a way to get Alexa to order automatically but haven’t figured it out yet.

No Ocado if you live in Scotland…

We have a monthly grocery delivery from Asda, and top up from the village shop as needed. I have no desire to visit busy supermarkets now. Ordering is easy, delivery is on time and substitutions are usually acceptable, and we save money because we don't impulse buy. I don't really miss shopping in person.

I've done our weekly grocery shop online for years, after long term illness meant I couldn't keep doing it in person. We always shopped with Tesco, but became fed up with several substitutions every week, many of which seemed totally unrelated to the item ordered. We switched to ASDA, but became very frustrated by up to 8 items being completely cancelled each week due to availability issues.

We've been with Morrisons for 5 or more years now and it's by far the most reliable. Since the pandemic and brexit we do regularly have a couple of substitutions, but it's very like for like and it's quite rare to have anything cancelled.

I love online shopping! Been grocery shopping since it started, but not every week as I live alone.
One 'tip' I can suggest is before you check out, get the 'basket' up & chuck out all those impulse buys. I'm always disappointed when they don't arrive tho ?
I also love wandering around the supermarket, but these are interesting times... I also don't drive so am restricted to what I can carry.

Since covid I have done shipping online for click and collect. Alternate week Sainsbury and Tesco. Then my husband who is the car driver picks it up. He hates shopping so it works for us.
I book it a week in advance and then keep changing the order as and when I think if things we need. I like it they send an email the day before with the final list including any substitutions so it's easy to reject them
A couple of times they have send things too close to the use by date. But when I've pointed it out to them I have received a refund.

We shopped online during the lockdown but I hated it. I love doing my own shopping. I love shopping of any type though. I do give my Amazon account a good bashing quite frequently though.

Yes. We bought two fresh chickens that were very short dated (use by next day)The plan had been to cook one straight away and the other one a few days later (we eat more chicken than any other meat because we share it with the dog). They refunded us for both of them.

I started online shopping as soon as Tesco started delivering and that's a very long time ago now. At the time, I was working long hours and really begrudged the time spent in crowded supermarkets. I've now been retired 7 years but have continued with Tescos online - they're brilliant! We've rarely had any sort of problem, they're good value for money, their delivery drivers are first rate and they have everything I need. It takes me just a few minutes to do a fortnightly shop although inevitably I add things, which it's very easy to do. I did register with Asda, Morrisons & Waitrose during lockdown but have never bothered to use them - I'm happy with Tescos thank you!

I started on line shopping about 5 years ago, mainly for the heavy or bulky items I struggled to carry up the steep hill I live on. I shielded for the best part of a year and online grocery shopping was my lifeline. The drivers have all been really friendly and followed Covid regulations to the letter. I still have a delivery every 2 or 3 weeks and top up locally. Only let me down once when they couldn’t get the van up the hill in deep snow but rescheduled via a very apologetic email. I keep a list on the go so it’s ready for when I place my order and stops me going wild?

I started online shopping when I had a bad back injury. Sainsbury's. Always good till recently when I have been given perishables like chicken that are past their use by date, some rotten fruit and other problems.

I am lucky enough to have an excellent Co-op round the corner. Recently I have been unable to leave my little dog as he has had a rather nasty operation and I have put an order in at the Co-op ( you have to spend at least £15) and they deliver it within the hour when they are not too busy. Fantastic.

I do click n collect with Asda which is a great service for 50p and i visit smaller independent shops for bits in between. The best of both worlds!

Visgir1 Wed 01-Dec-21 14:03:51

I have been doing on-line shopping for at least 15 plus years when my children were younger first with Asda, each week plus order for my elderly parents, top ups Waitrose. After a while it got more popular and my delivery came from a small store so a lot of products not available, drove me nuts. So I
reduced it down to once a month, for essentials.

However, lockdown happened even though I was a frequent shopper, I had problems getting a slot.
Tbh I wasn't that miffed as there were more in need than me.

Then post Lockdown disaster struck, they shut my local Waitrose!
So it's online from Waitrose and top ups, M&S and Lidl.

Daisend1 Wed 01-Dec-21 14:04:43

Prefer to personally shop but will book a slot ready for all the extras I will be heeding for xmas.

Have done online grocery shopping with Sainsburys for about 12 years no complaints here .
Done all my Christmas shopping on line too.

DiamondLily Wed 01-Dec-21 14:29:43

We can’t go normal food shopping easily, because of health, so online is essential for us.

I think it’s great. I am a delivery saver with 4 of them, and can juggle about getting everything we need.

Christmas slots all booked and organised.?

grandtanteJE65 Wed 01-Dec-21 14:43:30

I have never shopped for groceries online and I do hope I shall never need to, as I like looking at the foodstuffs I am buying before handing over money for them.

I buy books, printer cartridges, remedies for getting rid of cat fleas and ticks etc. sewing cotton and the like online.

Some websites are easy to use, others are a right pain, this morning it took me over twenty minutes to order ink cartridges and pay for them! Grr!

sandelf Wed 01-Dec-21 14:55:17

I get frozen fish and vegetables from Iceland. And we do a Sainsburys Smart shop in person between 7 - 8 in the evening. Always quiet and often cheap croissants etc. Cannot stand loud and crowded shops now (to the extent I take ear plugs - use them if they have music or wailing children).

jaylucy Wed 01-Dec-21 14:56:12

Have done shopping online every week since the first lockdown and occasionally before that.
I don't think that has been one week where the list hasn't had to be adjusted or items not there when the order is delivered.
It's annoying and frustrating at the very least, but not a lot that you can do.
Also having to choose from a narrower range of goods as well, but until I feel more comfortable about shopping in a supermarket, I will stick with the online shopping.

grannydarkhair Wed 01-Dec-21 15:03:23

I’ve recently started getting a Tesco delivery every second week, just for tins, other heavy stuff and frozen food. I usually start the list on the Thursday, and always make changes on the Saturday prior to the Sunday delivery. The weeks in between, I like to shop in person to pick up fresh foods. It’s been a different driver each time and they’ve all been lovely, very chatty and friendly. A credit to Tesco in fact.

sundowngirl Wed 01-Dec-21 15:03:25

I have been having home deliveries of shopping since Tesco first started decades ago. First with using a catalogue and phoning through the order then by internet. In those days many of my friends thought I was strange, but they all do it now, especially since lockdown. I have a regular weekly slot on a Friday morning which was brilliant when slots were so hard to get last year. I have a browse in supermarkets now and then, but doing a big regular shop - never!!!

Larsonsmum Wed 01-Dec-21 15:14:41

We have had ASDA online deliveries ever since they began doing it - at least 15 years. They have always been excellent and I hate to constantly see ASDA being knocked as being a 'poor' supermarket.

We live 7 miles from anywhere, including our nearest ASDA, and I choose a Wednesday night slot which costs only £1 for delivery.

It would cost me 14 miles round trip of fuel and take me 60/90 minutes to go to the supermarket and back, so ordering at my desk in our home office, and paying just £1 for delivery is great by me!

wildswan16 Wed 01-Dec-21 15:22:49

I have shopped online with Asda for a couple of years. Always found it a reasonably enjoyable and simple procedure ...... until yesterday when my order failed to arrive. No communication whatsoever. Only available route of enquiry was through a helpline number. Couldn't understand a word the man said (he was English) as he mumbled and gabbled so quickly. Would not slow down when asked to speak more clearly. (I am not deaf). Left the call not knowing whether my order is coming, whether to re-order, etc. etc.

Elvis58 Wed 01-Dec-21 15:31:50

No never shop online for anything. As my friend says internet shopping is fraught with disappointment!l also feel its the death knell of the high street.
