Zanzibar prawn curry a la OH, following a visit to the cinema to see ‘Fisherman’s Friends: One and All’! Thoroughly enjoyed the curry and the film. Slow roasted lamb today. ?

Some gorgeous recipe ideas here what a treat! Roast chicken with herbs and garlicky roasties and veg. A homemade apple pie for dessert with custard or ice cream.

It's cooler and my son is coming to dinner. So I'm doing a beef casserole with mashed potatoes and broccoli.
Strawberry trifle for pud.

Poached eggs on toast - I cannot be bothered to cook a proper dinner

Corned beef hash with beans. It’s cooler here and been raining all afternoon so felt like something cooked.

A big bowl of veggie pasta.

kittylester Mon 22-Aug-22 18:04:31

Sausage, mash, mixed greens, sugar roasted carrots and gravy.

The mash and greens are ready made from M&S, the gravy is homemade but frozen. I will roast the carrots and sausages myself. grin

Just finished Fish and chips delivered.

They were delicious

Mushroom risotto with sweet corn cobettes and runner beans.
Using up things that I had almost forgotten.

Dare I admit that we’re going to have some of the roast chicken from the other day, heated through in gravy made from today’s carcass stock and ? Bisto chicken gravy granules.

Even more ?, I had put the remains of the chicken in the (cold) oven the other night, away from any flies, since it was still too warm to put in the fridge. And then forgot it for 24 hours! Just as well the weather’s cooled off considerably.

The other remains are in the freezer in little packs labelled Chick Bits.
We’ll have the ‘false roast’ with new potatoes, peas and carrots.

Cheese and tomato sarnie, and a packet of crisps.

Poor man’s pizza. Cheese on toast with tomatoes on the top. Really fancy a packet of crisps though, but can’t keep them in the house. Too more’ish!

We had veggie sausages (never tried them before) with some ready made sainsbury onion gravy (don’t knock till you’ve tried it!), mash and broccoli. It was nice and I didn’t miss the meaty sausages we usually have. I’ve been dieting recently and lost around one and a half stone loads more to go, but the veggie sausages are much lower in calories. Sigh. At least another two stone to go!

I had a Linda McCartney mozzarella burger on a roll with salad. I'm not vegetarian but they are delish.

Shakshuka tonite (made to use up home grown red peppers and tomatoes) with an egg poached in the sauce snd served with tomato and onion couscous. Leftovers for tomoro as I’ll be out all day.

They're lovely, aren't they?
I sometimes do a super-duper stuffed bap with mustard, salad and all the trimmings. smile

Son is cooking spaghetti Bolognese, and we'll have ice cream with fruit afterwards. I've just had a coffee Stout. Lovely.

Bockwurst, rye bread and spicy beans.

merlotgran Tue 23-Aug-22 18:41:09

Home made vegan sausages, cabbage, beans and onions from the allotment and apple sauce from the garden.

First autumn type of meal.

Jaxjacky Tue 23-Aug-22 19:34:14

Chicken curry, leftover new spuds chucked in and some frozen peas.

Baggs Tue 23-Aug-22 19:40:41

Duck meat seared and baked, beluga lentil dal, microwaved broccoli and fried asparagus.

I used the pan in which I seared the duck breasts to fry the asparagus. We have recently discovered we like it fried and that frying seems to do something that neutralises whatever makes the apsaragus pee smell.

Delicious cannellini beans in vinaigrette, with rocket, tomatoes, shallots mixed, room temperature. Baguette. Affogato and biscotti.

kittylester Tue 23-Aug-22 21:38:11

Black pudding, bacon and New potato salad. It was delicious.

Norah Wed 24-Aug-22 14:39:44

Red Lentil soup, baguette, green salad, my version of tiramisu.
