Apparently one in five Brits feel they couldn't survive without nuggets. I don't recall ever eating one! The one food I would not like to be without is cheese. What would yours be?

Cheese, eggs, milk, bread and pears, not all together!

I’ve never bought nuggets.

I only ever buy Heinz baked beans, I’ve tried other makes but don’t like them.
Cheese and eggs are the foods I would hate to do without.
I rarely eat red meat, but yesterday Mr M made a beef casserole and Yorkshire puddings and poured the casserole into the yorkshires, a bit like they do in Eastern European countries. It was delicious and very much enjoyed by our son and his family who had dinner with us.
Our other son took a serving of the casserole home with him for his dinner (his wife is vegetarian) and he also took a big slice of the apple, peach, and date crumble that I made home with him.

I've had chicken nuggets a few times at McDonalds at service stations. They're okay with a dip but not something I would buy for home. I've made them a few times since I've had the air fryer as it's quicker to cook them and I wouldn't turn the oven on for them.

I wouldn't ever want to eat them

I like quorn nuggets ( fake chicken ) in a wrap with vegan mayonnaise and salad. An easy quick lunch.
I don't like eggs much, except in cake. I am intolerant with dairy but not so much with hard cheese. I love wensleydale cheese with apricots.

Just here to find out what nuggets are. Never had them.

Davida1968 Mon 13-Nov-23 13:36:29

Never had a nugget as such, and I rarely eat chicken unless I know categorically that it's free range. I suppose the closest I have come to eating a "nugget" is a falafel, which is vegetarian.

Apparently we live well without nuggets, never knew nuggets.

M&S do (or used to) a ready meal consisting of a giant Yorkshire pud with roast beef, veg and gravy inside.

If they still do it I might treat myself - dh is going to be away until Friday night so I won’t be making any Proper Dinners just for me. 🙂

Never bought nuggets but have made my own from whole chicken breasts not the re shaped scrapings.
I could live without many foods but I’d rather not. I really would hate to live on mainly processed foods.

Tea. I’d find it very hard to do without tea. Also potatoes in various forms.

I’ve never had a nugget, as far as I know.

What's a nugget. I'm imagining some sort of ultra-processed food.

I thought gold nuggets!

That's what I thought too. I've lived without gold nuggets for all of my life.

Do fish fingers count as fish nuggets?

Shelflife Mon 13-Nov-23 16:45:31

Well said Maggie, I have them in my freezer , GC love them and I have eaten them too with GC. I can think of far worse ' junk food ' but chicken nuggets are as you say ' hardly the work of the devil '

BlueBelle Mon 13-Nov-23 16:50:08

Don’t think there’s anything you can’t adjust too not having if you have to
the grandkids used to like nuggets when they were small

paddyann54 Mon 13-Nov-23 17:08:06

I make chicken goujons most weeks ,its one of the few thngs our 4 year old GD will eat.Sometimes I shape them into animals or dinasaurs for her .She doesn't always eat them but she always takes them home "for later" so thats fine.I dont oven cook them I shallow fry ,they are much crisper .They are also a huge hit with my OH's friends when they come over with garlic mayo or sweet chilli sauce

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 13-Nov-23 17:14:33

There’s a big difference between chicken goujons you make at home with hopefully free range chicken and what you buy at the supermarket I would think.

sodapop Mon 13-Nov-23 17:21:34

I've eaten chicken nuggets with the grandchildren when they were young. Fortunately they are all grown up now so nuggets are off the menu.
I couldn't live without chocolate.

I’m not sure that they do growstuff but what’s in a name? Do McDonalds sell fish nuggets? I think, but could be wrong, that the chicken nugget craze came from McDonalds because I think they serve them. McDonalds is another place I never go to, I hate their food. I think fish nuggets would be called goujons, but I’m not an expert, I just know I prefer the ones Mr M makes for the grandchildren, either chicken or fish.

MrsKen33 Mon 13-Nov-23 17:32:04

Never had a nugget in any shape or form. Gold, chicken, !,,,I’ll give the first a try.

What are nuggets? Are they like faggots? I don’t like them!

I used to love Faggots - Savoury Duck is another name for them. Not Fodmap friendly so on the red list.

Pittcity Mon 13-Nov-23 17:50:01

We usually have goujons here but DGSs love a nugget. Chicken in breadcrumbs, nothing wrong with that. I could live without them but there's nothing wrong with eating them.

If you breaded chicken is that a nuggets?

Definitely UHP - additives in them.

Vegetable oil
Sodium aluminum phosphate
Sodium acid pyrophosphate
Calcium lactate
Monocalcium phosphate
Lemon juice solids
Dextrose
Natural flavors
Wheat flour
Rice flour
Other food starches

I’ve never been a fan of fast food but I assume it is chicken nuggets from McDonalds that are being referred to. I would imagine they are made from waste bits of chicken. Jamie Oliver used to go on about Turkey Twizzlers being nutritionally poor which I assume are a similar thing.

Bella23 Mon 13-Nov-23 17:57:56

I could but my grandson couldn't. I once took one apart and that finished me.

Kim19 Mon 13-Nov-23 18:05:24

Can't think of any food I cannot live without. I'd adapt and survive. However the thought of no eggs ever saddens me. They're so versatile.
