What was your least favourite subject?
Mine was PE.
In the final year I made such a nuisance of myself, the school finally agreed that I didn’t have to do it!

My least favourite was Latin. I used to make up poems in Latin/ English in the lesson which didn’t fulfil the aims of the teacher, though she used to take them away with her. She was relieved that I didn’t take it to A level.
My plum tree has dropped its leaves, even though most trees in the park are still well dressed. What’s the leaf state near you?

Most have their leaves but we have a large oak which is beginning to take on a reddish tinge.
Did you lose any plants in the drought? I lost a much loved lilac. It seemed to just wither away.

Hi Ken, we were ridiculously lucky rain wise, we really didn’t have a drought in Derbyshire.

I’m currently on holiday with DH just 40 minutes away from home.
This time last year I honestly didn’t think that we’d ever be able to go away anywhere again.

What have you recently done that has pleasantly surprised you?

Glad you’re enjoying your holiday Fanny. Recently I drove a long way to meet up with my brother and his family. I’d never met his D-i-L but we got on so well they’re coming to visit next time they’re in England.

Starlings are gathering on the telephone wires again here. Have you seen them doing those wonderful displays?

Sorry to say I havnt noticed them. However birds wait on the fence for me to go out and feed them. Its like a Hitchcock film.

Have you ever had wild animals in your garden other than birds?

Ive had both foxes and hedgehogs - as well as the usual squirrals. The foxes have a den somewhere in the business park behind but they come out at night/early morning to be fed. They like cat food.

Foxes visit our garden quite regularly, we also get lots of squirrels & I’ve occasionally spotted little field mice & shrews. I love to see the foxes. My DD has had a hedgehog under her shed this year.

Do you feed the birds or wildlife that visit your garden? I do even though my neighbour says it encourages rats!!

We used to feed the foxes in the field at the bottom of the garden, they were really quite tame.
They seem to have disappeared recently, like lots of our local wildlife
We have hedgehogs but I don’t feed them, we have plenty of juicy slugs.
I’m conscious of rats too.
Especially after I had a baby one in my bedroom
I think it came in through the cat flap. The dog was going bananas and it was climbing the curtains, I originally thought it was a kitten.
I didn’t get a wink of sleep that night and then had to go to work.

Have you ever had a creature in the house that should not have been there?

Once had a rat?, the odd mouse and I don’t like wild birds getting in, I’m superstitious about that.

If you could go back to your wedding day, what would you like to change?

Just to go back to Fanny’s question.we had a jackdaw fell down our wood burner chimney yesterday. Took him a few hours to travel right down. By which time DH had cleared out the set fire and removed the back plate, He/ she fell into the stove and just looked at us. I opened the front door and shut all others and DH wearing heavy gloves lifted him out. Without a word of thanks he flew away. Second one this year.

Wedding.—— I would change the reception venue. It was in a room above an old dark pub. Very claustrophobic. The place is now a McDonalds

MacDonalds doughnuts - love them.

Returning to MrsKen33 story of the bird, have you ever rescued a wounded bird or animal?

Some friends of mine used to run an animal sanctuary and I took them several birds with injured wings.

I rescued a ferret from my Border Terriers jaws, he caught it in the garden but thankfully obeyed my command to drop. It was making the most awful squealing sound when it was in his mouth but was otherwise unhurt.

What’s the most unusual bird to visit your garden. I’ve had a Greater Spotted Woodpecker & regularly get a lovely little Nuthatch.

We had an owl that used to arrive at dusk and sit on post at the bottom of the garden.

Do you drive far? My longest journey now is around 140 miles round trip.

I dont drive.

How do your normally dry your hair? With a hairdryer or just let it dry naturally?

I just towel mine dry and let it dry naturally. Takes a while as its waist length.

I leave mine to dry. It's very curly, like a perm, but natural.

Do you shave your legs?

I always used to, but these days the hairs just don't grow anywhere except on my head!

So if you do shave your legs, or underarms, or anywhere, what do you use?

A electric lady razor for legs but don’t have to do them very often. Hand lady shave for underarms.

I’m about to make a sandwich. What is your favourite sandwich filling ?

Smoked salmon and cream cheese on seeded bread. Or cheddar cheese and branston pickle on any bread.

We have ‘personality’ sandwiches. I put out Ham, cheese, egg, various bits of salad, some times prawns etc. Then you make your own. My favourite is ham, cheese, tomato and watercress with mayo.

What a dreary day ! I’m just ipadding - done nothing worthwhile , except empty the dishwasher and tidy kitchen. What have you done today?

Very little as I have hurt my leg. Good excuse to not do any work or go out in the rain.

Do you like cosy evenings? I like to close the blinds put on some soft lighting and relax with a book ot TV.

There's nothing better than a cosy evening. Relax with a book or the telly and some knitting. In fact, most of my evenings are like that, so much so that I don't really want to go out.

I don't like these dark evenings. I usually watch something on Netflix.

What time do you go to bed? I usually go 10.30 - 11pm

Love dark nights, closing curtains, side lamps on. 10pm bedtime here.
Favourite bedtime drink?.
