This weekend should have been our village open gardens - sadly cancelled.
Having been part of this previously we know that it is hard work over the two days but also enormous fun.
We have had the front garden redesigned recently but dh (particularly) has worked very hard to make the back garden look good!
The event also makes a lot of money for our local children's hospice which will, sadly, miss out this year.
I thought it might be nice to have a Gransnet Open Gardens event so here are some of our plants. Watch out, I could go mad!!

Some more ....
Just nipped out and took mine.

lemongrove, yes honestly the garden IS getting too much for us now. OH loves cutting grass on his ride on mower, but is no good at weeding, and we have awful heavy clay so hard to keep nice, which gets me down. We are making it mainly grass and trees. It has been lovely during lockdown though. I would actually love a low maintenance courtyard garden.
You’re doing the right thing, keep it simple for an easy life.
If you do move, a courtyard garden can look wonderful with all sizes of pots in groupings.?
Wonderful pictures ladies. Love those great views beyond as well. Ours is suburban garden with no view at all?
purple we have that arch I’ll take a photo of it, you can see ours is almost completely covered.
It is boiling out there. I’m showering one of the baby seagulls that is left with cold water as he is in full sun and no shade. He loves it and sits in the puddle preening himself after.
Whitewave what do you grow over your arch? I planted Generous Gardener Rose one side and a pink clematis the other side last summer but neither show any signs of climbing high?
Well I’m buggered!!
Generous gardener and the pink flower is Clematis Lady Diana. On the right hand side.
On the left hand side is a hop.
All the gardens are so different and interesting.
Marmight I love your garden ornament/sculpture.
Thanks seacliff. I have to rein myself in every so often otherwise it becomes a bit naff ?. But, they do detract from the lack of weeding. Like you I prefer the casual look, unlike my neighbour who I swear cuts the grass with nail scissors
. I got the owl at Chelsea last year and the hare is my first tentative effort at mosaic.
Our village garden open day is going on line this year. Not quite the same as seeing and smelling but needs must in these strange times
I suggested our Open Gardens went on line and we had a just giving page. It was poo poo'ed as 'nobody knows how to do it!' I dont know how to do it either but I bet your average random teenager would!
Marmight and Whitewave....very impressive mosaics.?
I love the owl.?
?. Great idea. Mine is going rustically rusty but I quite like that
Here are a few from mine. It took a battering in the recent storms, but still plenty going on.
A couple of favourites out at the moment.
I love all the photos. Everyone does so well.
It is beyond hot today. A honeysuckle arrived today, to replace the one that got blown down. “Rhubarb and Custard” a smaller one than the old one. Far too hot to plant it though. Also a Mahonia “caberet”
I need to know how the baby seagull is getting on WW....
Are you watering him? ?
Greyduster I love the clematis ( pink frilly) what is it called?
Lemongrove it’s called (and please don’t ask me to pronounce it - I haven’t a clue!) ‘Piilu’.
I have had the bits and pieces to make a water feature, (all in my head), for a while, so sent for a tiny solar water pump, to make it come to life.
The pump came this lunch time and I put it all together, and here is the result. All I need now are a few pebbles, to hide the ugly bits at the bottom of the bowl.
Greyduster
Lemongrove it’s called (and please don’t ask me to pronounce it - I haven’t a clue!) ‘Piilu’.
Thanks ??
lemon yes to cool him down. Every half an hour I go out and turn on the hose pipe and he hobbles over ( he hurt his leg falling off the roof) and stands in the drops. He has no shade and the heat is intense today. Hopefully it will be cooler tomorrow.
The parents are ferocious in protection though so we can’t get near him. I just hope he survives. We’ve lost one, there are two left. One still on the house roof and one on next doors flat extension roof (empty house) the one in the hose roof has shade from the chimney and apex.
Beautiful Auntieflo. How creative you are!
