It’s that time of year again.

Too soon to have any opinions. I am looking forward to the dog friendly gardenšŸ¦®ā˜ŗļø

Whoop whoop! I’ll be glued all week. I love the show gardens.

I'd like to let my DS dog loose in the dog friendly garden & see how long it lasts - he's not a garden-friendly dog!

Whitewavemark2 Sun 18-May-25 19:39:32

If they get excited and do zoomies 😮😮

Apart from Wimbledon, it’s the best TV week of the year!

I will get down to London one year to go to the flower show, this is my favourite event in May even more than my birthday which usually falls during the week of the show.

Just received an email from David Austin Roses, it was a preview of the new Kings Rose, and I have to say I’m not a fan. I’ve bought a good few roses from this company, my favourite being the Olivia Rose rose, which was to honour his granddaughter. Which is also my granddaughter’s name.

I have had 3 Olivia’s in the garden for quite a few years. It really is a lovely rose. This year I gave it a really hard prune, and it is now full of bud, and flower. I’ll take a photo. It is an incredibly healthy plant, has a medium fragrance.

Oh, I wish we had better gardening shows here! I'm a bit jealous. All our Home and Garden channel offers is renovation after renovation.

I'm going with my GS on Saturday really looking forward to it muchly.

I am so looking forward to seeing the song bird survival garden and am hoping for ideas of how to help the birds in my own garden.

merlotgran Sun 18-May-25 20:56:57

I’m envious, tanith. I haven’t been for twenty years mainly because I’m not sure my stamina would hold out these days. Have a great time.

I am going with a friend, travelling on Tuesday and doing the Cautauld in the afternoon. Wednesday going to Chelsea curtesy of my good friend who is an exhibitor, my ticket lets me go in before opening to general public so hopefully I can see all the gardens in peace and quiet. I've never been so very excited!

Jaxjacky Sun 18-May-25 21:17:53

I will dip in and out, tbh I find it all rather overwhelming and expensive, me and my small garden.
Those going, have a great time, others enjoy the watch.

J52 Sun 18-May-25 21:47:23

I last went the year before Covid. I did find it very crowded and it was hard to see any of the gardens. I prefer Hampton Court and Tatton Park flower shows, less crowded.

Do you think Queen Camilla will bring her new puppy, Moley, to play in Monty's garden? I think I heard Alex Jones (the One Show) saying her new puppy, a black lab, is going. šŸ•
I'm looking forward to seeing all the gardens.

merlotgran Mon 19-May-25 08:18:51

The new puppy is a Jack Russell X. She adores them.

I think I heard that the Dog Garden was not being included in the judging. Am I correct?
I think if too many pets are allowed in it will be chaos and ruined! The general public are not usually allowed, so maybe it is only going to be those of the TV and radio presenters involved.

merlotgran Mon 19-May-25 09:23:36

Celebrity dogs only by invitation.

Despite all the talk about a dog’s enjoyment of a garden I’ve yet to hear a mention of wee stains or poo bags!

Dogs will be dogs after all.

I've just bought two. šŸ•
Sophie Allport £16 each if anyone is interested.

escaped Mon 19-May-25 11:34:51

It looks like Ned's mum and sister might have been invited!

Ooh yes, I do need new mugs. Thank you for the tip, escaped, some I was looking at were twice that price!

It looks a lot more harmonious than when Peggy and her mum, Millie were reunited with Peggy’s brother, Gloster.
Millie jumped on him covering him with licks.
Peggy jumped on him and nearly took his head off! 😱

I have not been for years, so enjoy it everyone. I can attest that dogs are fairly indiscriminate about where they pee. What does Monty D advise on doing about decimated patches of lawn and brown plants?

But make the most of it as, allegedly, Ange has grand plans to acquire the gardens for affordable housing. (Today's on-line news).
