New grandchild in 2013?

I know there are a few of us in happy anticipation of a new grandchild this year. My daughter's baby is due in February and she's chosen NOT to know the gender; although names for either have been chosen and I do like them both very much. I am very excited at the prospect of being present at the birth, as I was with daughter's first baby - and happily my lovely son in law is glad to share the experience.
Who else is an expectant gran/grandfather?

Good luck when. I hope all goes well for the next few days and there are no more alarms. How exciting for you all. flowers

I'm also due to be a second time granny in May - 3 days after the first one's 2nd birthday. They had the 20 week scan last week and we know its a boy and all is well. The first one was a bit traumatic as she had pre-eclampsia so is being monitored carefully this time.

Ours are at a distance and I have coped by visiting once a month for one night and with Skype in between. Skype has made such a difference and our little man now sits in front of the computer and demands "Ganny", which is lovely.

Exciting times smile

Well....all the fuss has died down and mum is being allowed home later today, which is very good news, and I can wait a little longer for my grandson to make his debut in a few days' time. Well done the doctors and nurses, who have patched mum up so she's not in as much pain now. Baby is fine. smile

Fingers crossed for you all, When. It's such a roller coaster, isn't it? My little ones, (all five of them), were born in three years, and are now, 6, 5, 5, 4 and 3 years old. Reading about all the expectant grannies has made me reflect on how fast ours are growing, and I felt a twinge (just a little twinge, mind) of regret for the baby-days now passed by. Good luck to you all flowers

Hummingbird there's always Greatgrands to look forwards to one day, my eldest grandson (25) assures me he and his lovely wife will be 'trying' anytime soon... so I've had the pleasure 7 grandchildren with another due in June and now so looking forward to the greatgrands coming along , the Circle of Life sure is turning in my family...

when - ouch! Those steroid injections are very painful. shock Still, your daughter in law will be relieved that baby's lungs will have had a bit of help. Keep us in the loop. smile

whenim64 Thu 17-Jan-13 15:17:12

ga just spoken to her - doc says now no need for the steroid! Baby will be 37 weeks on Monday and not expecting to deliver before then, now things have calmed down. If she gets to 38 weeks, that's the planned c-section date, a week on Monday. Must relax and stop ruminating about how fast I can elbow my way into that delivery room!! So excited! grin

Sounds good, when. Now just be patient for a bit longer.............

whenim64 Thu 17-Jan-13 17:03:58

I AM trying...........! grin

My daughter is finding the weight and the waiting very frustrating this time around. Because she went into labour so early last time she escaped feeling like a 'beached whale' and the tediousness of the last six weeks. I don't move now without my mobile phone as she could go into labour any day - even though technically there is still a month to go. It is exciting though. smile

Tanith how lovely for you - circle of life indeed.

Grannymc another baby due mid February smile ......makes me wonder what was going on nine months ago........ hmm

Mishap Fri 18-Jan-13 21:43:33

Only a week to go now till DD3's due date - she is blooming. Baby's head is engaged and it is facing the right way, so time will tell!

glassortwo Fri 18-Jan-13 21:49:04

Such an exciting time for you all. smile

whenim64 Fri 18-Jan-13 22:00:34

Lovely Mishap. Looks like our little ones will arrive within days of each other smile

Grannylin Fri 18-Jan-13 22:05:01

DiL is now 4 days overdue.....perhaps baby knows it's snowing and is hanging on smile

whenim64 Fri 18-Jan-13 22:15:45

Let us know when it happens Grannylin. So exciting, all these babies...smile

annodomini Fri 18-Jan-13 22:31:34

Oh, you're all making me feel granny-broody. I am going to have to hold on for a few more years for the GGC. Isn't yours due this weekend, when?

whenim64 Fri 18-Jan-13 22:52:17

My grandson is due by planned c-section a week on Monday anno. That's a week before his actual due date, and if he hangs on till then, as he's busy giving his mum false alarms at the moment grin

annodomini Fri 18-Jan-13 23:03:04

The waiting must be almost as bad for you as it is for your DiL, when!

whenim64 Fri 18-Jan-13 23:06:02

Oh, it's MUCH worse for me anno. She has the easy job!! Only kidding grin

I'm looking forward to seeing all the 'new baby' photographs and finding out the names of them all. I'm very happy with both choices of names that my daughter and her husband have picked; the full name begins with A and the diminutive begins with B - whether it's a girl or a boy. grin
