I went for a walk last night with my 10 year old granddaughter whom I do not see very often due to distance and had a good old belly laugh. I hadn’t realised what a wicked sense of humour she has until we began our walk. Well I have never enjoyed a walk so much and nearly cried with laughter on several occasions. I look forward to the next walk with her.

What a joy it is to have a skip in generations in order to enjoy the GD and not be her mother.

I totally agree. I adore being a grandma and have so much fun without the stress of parenthood. It is great.

I agree too. My 3 year old grandson is hysterical. At a wildlife park yesterday there was no sign of the lynx (who had a very large wooded enclosure). A daddy was stood by us and suggested to his disappointed toddler that it was probably hiding in the shade. My gs piped up in a very loud and determined voice "He is DEFINITELY NOT hiding, he has gone to get an ice cream!!!!

I stayed with my 9 year old GD last week while her mum had to rush off with a dental emergency. I’ve been battling with my frizzy hair for years and had rushed out that morning to hold the fort not looking my best. She looked at me very intently and asked “Grandma have you put your hair near electricity?”

My nearly 5yo GS asked me how old he will be when I turn 100. I said he would be 39 then and maybe he could then pick me up in his car sometimes, or do some shopping for me? "Oh no grandma, I will be much too busy to do chores for you, and anyway, you'll still be older than me, so yóu will have to take care of mé! "

Gotta love 'em ! While family were staying and crafting with my 5 yr old GD I explained I was out of practice so probably the outcome would not be great. With a huge sigh she asked "So what ARE you good at Nanny " .

i never thought i would be able to get close to my GS as he was diagnosed as non verbal autistic at 3, he can say some words now at the age of 6 and he makes me smile and laugh, he may not be able to say funny things but his antics are enough for me, he can be crying and throwing a hissy fit on the floor, but as soon as i take my phone out to take a pic, he stands up, smiles and poses, he the only GC i am likely to have and i adore him.

One foot in the grave! This is a friend's GD, not mine, but here goes....
Child: Granny, what does suicide mean?
Granny: It means that someone decides they don't want to go on living, and they kill themselves.
Child: Well, you're old already, so there wouldn't be much point in you doing that, would there?
Silence from Granny 👵

Me: what did you learn about in school this week?
GD (age8) : romans
me & hubby (monty python fans) : what did they ever do for us?
GD: roads, law and order, learning...
GS (age 5) : and they killed GOD!!!!

and of course the classic....

Nanny what was it like living when the dinosaurs were around? (I am 57!?!)

I was cleaning up a spilled milk mess on the kitchen table, mess made by our six year old grandson, I realised our eight year old grandson was watching me very closely, then he said "I don't mean this to sound inappropriate Granny, but you are old fashioned aren't you?" quite how I was appearing to be old fashioned by cleaning a table I don't know, but the comment amused me.

Our granddaughter once asked us what it was like living when the world was black and white 😂

Presumably you were using a cloth, and not a paper towel?

My GD asked me if I would enter a beauty contest. Being overweight with frizzy grey hair I laughed and said “no”. She went on to tell me I was really beautiful! Through the eyes of a child!

It's lovely isnt it, my 12 Yr old grandson is the same, he has mine and his mums humour, and we bounce of each other, he's such a pleasure to be around.

Small GS, when we were listening to music: 'Did they have music like this when you were alive, Nanna?

Other small GS; 'Have you always had that wonky little tooth, Nanna?' On hearing that I had, he replied 'It's a pity, because without that you might have looked quite pretty'.

We looked after our granddaughters for a week while DD and SIL went to a wedding in Greece. While walking into the village on one the days the six year old asked if they could have a snack. I asked what type of snack would they like and she promptly said Hula Hoops and I replied “well that’s not very healthy” to which the 3 year old piped up “that’s okay Mummy and Daddy aren’t here!”
For pure comedy value they got the chosen snack

My GS (13) was tapping at his phone when his Dad suggested he do his homework. "Not doing it any more," was the response. "It's illegal" "How come?" I asked. "If you don't do it, bad things happen to you," he explained. "That's blackmail. And blackmail is illegal."

I have loads, being a teacher as well as a grandma of 11, it my favourite so far was a few weeks ago. I was teaching a young=g modern dance class and I was explaining isolations to them, where we use one part of our body at a time. I asked them if anyone knew what isolation meant. One little girl piped up with ‘yes, it means not being able to visit granny!”
A wonderful post Covid comment!

I have 6 grandchildren ranging from 11- 24. Each have their own particular brand of humour, but the youngest is definitely the comedienne. When her sister came home from school and asked if she could go on a skiing tip, she was told to save hard and then mum would match her savings and she'd see what they could do. the little one turned and said "Well I'll never be going skiing then " lol
