Sorry to hear that Jud. How's she doing?

Greyduster Sun 22-Jan-17 08:42:39

So sorry about Georgie, Jud. Keeping everything crossed for her.

kittylester Sun 22-Jan-17 08:43:21

Morning all - jud, I'm so sorry to hear about Georgie - do you have any news?

MawBroon Sun 22-Jan-17 08:46:33

Oh jud you must have had a fraught night. What news of your dear Georgie? Still keeping everything crossed for her.

Mildred Sun 22-Jan-17 09:54:15

I lurk on here and the gentler threads, so I hope you don't mind me commenting on a few of the threads on here, in no particular order, Maw'I enjoy your posts, I find them informative, witty and caring. Annodomino please tell Ann that she too will be missed for her humour and commonsense. Jud thinking of you it must have been a terrible shock. I will now recommence lurking.

sunseeker Sun 22-Jan-17 10:28:35

Jud thinking of you and sending positive healing thoughts for Georgie

Judthepud2 Sun 22-Jan-17 10:28:55

Thank you so much for your kind thoughts everyone. Have just heard from the hospital vet. Georgie is out of danger as far as the collapsed lung goes but she can't stand. Specialist is coming in to scan her and see if there is anything that can be done. I'm just devastated! Keep your fingers crossed for her but it isn't looking good.

Can't stop crying at the moment.

MawBroon Sun 22-Jan-17 10:31:47

???
Just sending you love, hugs and understanding.
If she is out of danger, that is a good sign. In humans collapsed lungs can be "reinflated" (is is that the right expression?) it can be fixed. Hang on in there xxx

MawBroon Sun 22-Jan-17 10:33:07

Thinking that she cannot stand because of shock, the trauma of the accident. Time can be a great healer, keep faith.x

Bellasnana Sun 22-Jan-17 10:34:39

Just sticking my nose in to ask if anybody cares for panettone as I've been given two which will not get eaten .

I'm so very sorry to hear your awful news jud. Like everyone else, I devoutly hope Georgie can be returned to full health. Please update us when you have any news.flowers

Back to babysitting duties. Two young ladies today, DGD aged 5 and 6yr old who I have been babysitting over the years. Lots of giggles in the house today which will upset the dog. Nana is in referee mode. grin

NanaandGrampy Sun 22-Jan-17 10:45:23

Morning!!

Fingers firmly crossed Jud , I have used the Cambridge Vetinary hospital a few times and have great faith in the things vet hospitals can do so hopefully Georgie will improve x

Do stay Mildred it's good to make new friends,..always room in the kitchen for that!

Had a lovely evening with my family, you know your Grandaughter is growing up when she makes the cake for Grampy's birthday ! And very nice it was too.

Today Grampy is cooking Sunday lunch for our youngest daughter and her family. He has been given a good talking to by Jackson ( who discovered pigs in blankets this Christmas). Grampy was assured IF pigs in blankets were to be served a) Jackson could eat 2 and b) he promised to eat his broccoli if previously mentioned treat were to accompany them !!

I am now almost positive the boy will be heading for a position as a hostage negotiator !!

Be a first for us though .... it's roast pork today :-)

Greyduster Sun 22-Jan-17 10:59:51

GS will eat roast pork and crackling all day long, N&G. His face falls a mile if there is any other kind of meat on offer!

kittylester Sun 22-Jan-17 11:07:13

Good news so far then jud! sunshine

DGS (aged almost 10) cooked for us last night, under supervision!!. We had chicken fried rice (with quite a lot of chicken in rather large pieces) but is all disappeared. And this morning he is in charge of veg sticks for Bertie's party. I wonder if he could do roast pork? He loves cooking but mostly makes cakes. I've told him that he needs to expand his repertoire if he wants to win Junior Mastercard!

NanaandGrampy Sun 22-Jan-17 11:36:11

I feel your grandsons pain Grey its one of my favourites too. Since Grampy finalised his award winning ( in our family) roast potatoes we are having a lot more roasts !

I love that we are seeing the boys in the kitchen Kitty . Young Jackson is our star baker ( like your young man -cakes are his favourite!

We have just arranged an overnight visit with the queen of the universe aka our granddaughter. As part of her trip to the panto this Christmas we threw ina dinner which she chose to have on another day to make more outings ( clever girl) .

I had a chat last night and we discussed restaurant choices. Madam requested a steak !!! Grampy near enough fainted ! So we shall be going somewhere nice smile which suits me . Since they were tiny I have taken each of them to nice places to eat. It helps with table manners, they order for themselves so its nice to see them being polite to strangers and they love all the little touches .

So that's something to look forward to !

Well it is snowing here and still raw outside so not venturing out except for the egg collecting later. I will make a huge batch of cauliflower rice and freeze meal sized portions, then more cheese scones as the last lot did not last long. May do some fruit ones too with almond flour. I can't remember who brought in carrot and coriander soup to the kitchen, but that sounds good.

soop we have a slo cooker by Morhpy Richards but it is quite old now. It's a large one. I tend to make more than we need and whatever is left is swizzled with the hand held blender and then frozen as soup for quick lunches during the week. I find it an extremely economical way of cooking. Best meal I think is beef cheeks cooked for around 12 hours with veg. Absolutely delish. Never ever dries out so I can leave it on for hours while out and about. I discipline myself to get everything ready in the pot the night before then just switch on next morning.

Tusk a la tandoori style tonight with cauliflower and cardomon rice but not in the slo cooker (Tusk is a fish btw) if nothing else this post made me look up its proper name and apparently it is Brosme brosme, found in deep waters around the UK. Cod like but I think the flesh is firmer.

Feeling peckish now. I will pop back later to keep an eye on how Georgie is doing.

soop Sun 22-Jan-17 12:30:05

Dear Judthepud The very first message I read, just a few minutes ago, made me gasp. I could weep with you. Oh dear! Isn't this just the most awful time for any pet lover? I know how distraught you must have been when first you discovered Georgie's injuries. The latest news does sound a little more hopeful. I shall continue to trust that you Georgie will rally and that us lot can help you to celebrate. flowers and (((hugs)))

soop Sun 22-Jan-17 12:58:26

Mildred Lurk ye not. There is unlimited room in the kitchen. Please make yourself at home.

Bellasnana Have lots of fun. You can put your feet up later.
By the way...since you happen to mention sharing panetonne with us lot I shall head the queue. I wish!

NanaandGrampy grin Did you photograph Grampy's special cake?

Izabella Your post is most informative. Food for thought. Thank you.

kitty I think that it is very special to have a grandson of ten be sufficiently interested and have the confidence to cook a meal. You say he bakes cakes. In which case he's most welcome to join Jackson for a calorie-free cake-bake session in our well equipped kitchen.

soop Sun 22-Jan-17 13:00:09

Hello, Baubles Are you keeping well? smile

soop Sun 22-Jan-17 13:05:23

whitewave Yes, we do remember Minou. I am on edge as we wait for further news of Georgie. Please may it be hopeful.

annodomini Sun 22-Jan-17 13:20:17

When GS2 was in Y6, the class learnt to make shortbread which he demonstrated to me fo very good effect. I had to admit that I couldn't do better myself; so he printed out the recipe for me. At the same age, my GD1 would invade my kitchen, having already searched the internet for recipes, and proceed to make biscuits and cakes. At 25, she is an accomplished cook, just like her dad.

annodomini Sun 22-Jan-17 13:21:46

Jud, I am thinking of Georgie and sending the best vibes I can muster for her recovery. ((((hugs)))) for you.

NonnaW Sun 22-Jan-17 13:42:52

Poor Georgie. Thoughts and best wishes to you Jud. I may get tetchy with Travis & Purdey, but I would be devastated if anything happened to them, so I understand how awful you must be feeling. flowers

soop Sun 22-Jan-17 13:53:48

NonnaW Your message rings true with all pet lovers. smile

The reason why we frequently lose connection on the internet is, we're given to believe, linked with the hub thingy box. We replaced the present hub do-dah about four months ago. Does anyone know what the shelf life on such gizmos is?

sunseeker Sun 22-Jan-17 14:07:30

soop I sometimes lose my internet and the friendly neighbourhood computer whizkids tell me I should try switching off the hub, leave it for 10 minutes and then switch back on. They also tell me that it could be the way Windows 10 works now. When you switch off it does something peculiar (tech. term I think!) and you need to do a re-start (not a shut off). I have tried both these methods and they have worked.

wot Sun 22-Jan-17 14:22:42

Oh Jud, sending you and Georgie love and hope xxxxflowers
