sunseeker That is helpful information. I shall pass on your message to MacSporran. Thank you.

Greyduster Sun 22-Jan-17 14:33:27

sunseeker my internet connection dropped out yesterday and I did just that - although it wasn't for ten minutes; I just counted to thirty before I switched it back on again! Did the trick.

baubles Sun 22-Jan-17 14:41:50

Hello soopdeloop grin Very well thanks, hope you & MacSporran are in fine fettle.

I don't often post as I can't keep up with all the goings on but I do lurk quietly in the corner regularly and think of you all.

soop re slow cookers. I made the mistake of buying a small one for 1-2 people. This was too small for me because I may as well cook 6 portions and freeze than only one or two.

My next slow cooker has a "high" as well as as a "warm" slot. I find the "high" slot really good, I do not have to cook food for eg 10-12 hours, I can reduce it to a more manageable time of 5-6 hours so that I am not dining at bedtime. To date I have not used the "warm" slot because the food stays very hot switched off but the lid still on.

The downside is its size and weight, not for the faint hearted. I have a small kitchen but this takes its pride of place otherwise I would not use it so frequently. I am not 100% certain where I bought mine (probably Lakeland) but you may get it second hand on Ebay because I know a lot of people get fed up with them, being a one week wonder. I am aware that you are conversant with Ebay so try there first. I do not know if you would buy it on line if not from Ebay because of where you live. I would try Ebay, Amazon, John Lewis and Lakeland in that order. You will get an idea of prices from Amazon.

Jud I do hope that Georgie is better soon. She looks gorgeous.

Greyduster MacSporran tells me that he also switched off for a few minutes and discovered that the connection was restored - albeit very briefly.

baubles Us lot like it when you lurk. Better still, we like it so much more when you stay for a chat.
MacSporran has avoided catching the dreaded lurgy from which a few kitcheners have been smitten. I like it when he stays germ free. He's listening to Mahler right this minute.

soop Sun 22-Jan-17 16:05:45

Thank you Charlieg I'm also anxious for better news of Georgie. She is a special girl.

soop Sun 22-Jan-17 17:43:13

I need to log off until tomorrow. Beautiful Georgie remains in my thoughts.

Goodnight. smile moon

MawBroon Sun 22-Jan-17 17:48:33

Didn't want to put this on the "political" threads
A (little) "mister marching for the sisters" in London yesterday. smile

soop Sun 22-Jan-17 17:53:23

MawBroon Torben and his Mummy also participated in the march. smile

Charleygirl Sun 22-Jan-17 19:09:36

Flynn is well wrapped up!

MawBroon Sun 22-Jan-17 19:22:36

Well done Torben and Torben's mummy!!
I have never been on a march/demo and feel perhaps I should rectify this before I am too even more decrepit!

whitewave Sun 22-Jan-17 19:31:02

I have, especially in the 60s and 70s Anti- Vietnam CND, Greenham

Charleygirl Sun 22-Jan-17 19:35:55

I never have, having had many opportunities living in London since 1968.

Judthepud2 Sun 22-Jan-17 20:03:59

Thank you all for your kind thoughts about Georgie. You are special people and I do so appreciate your support. It was a bad day today waiting for the orthopaedic surgeon's report. Front legs will likely be fine once the swelling reduces. The back legs are giving concern but he thinks they may be operable. Again the amount of trauma was making it hard for him to see exactly the problem but she is having an MRI scan tomorrow which should give more information. He feels she is not yet well enough for an anaesthetic but it may be operable by Tuesday. He says she is not out of the woods yet but more hopeful than this morning.

We were allowed a little time with her. She didn't look quite so bad as yesterday and seemed to know we were there. Very heavy painkillers keeping her quite dopey though. Poor little mite ?

MawBroon Sun 22-Jan-17 20:15:55

Oh jud that does sound (cautiously )positive smile
Sending you and Georgie love and healing vibes. I hope you can get some sleep tonight smile

Greyduster Sun 22-Jan-17 21:12:21

Fingers crossed for you, jud.

grannyqueenie Sun 22-Jan-17 22:08:06

Poor little dog, you must have had a horrible day, with waiting and wondering. Hope you get a bit of sleep tonight and the news is still hopeful tomorrow xx

Charleygirl Sun 22-Jan-17 22:09:45

Jud that sounds a tad better- the poor little soul. She would definitely know that you were there, by smell if nothing else. Good luck for the MRI scan tomorrow- hopefully the result will shed more light. Being practical, I trust that she is insured?

oldgoat Sun 22-Jan-17 22:44:44

Dear jud Really hope your little Georgie will soon be on the mend. Vets can do amazing things these days with all their hi-tech equipment. DS's cat was very badly injured in an accident: collapsed lung, ruptured diaphragm and other internal injuries but within days of his surgery was up and about as if nothing had happened.
Have confidence that the vets will do their very best for your little friend.Hope she's a bit brighter tomorrow and that you get a good night's sleep.

callgirl1 Sun 22-Jan-17 22:50:53

I haven`t been on line much this weekend, so have only just read about poor, lovely Georgie. Sending my best wishes for her recovery xx

callgirl1 Sun 22-Jan-17 23:19:41

It was my husband`s birthday yesterday, the first since he died, so I treated the family to a meal out to mark the occasion. It`s very rare for us all to be in the same place at the same time, so it was a nice little affair. There were all 5 of our children, plus husbands and wives, 6 of our 7 grandchildren, 2 with girlfriends, and my BIL and his partner, 20 of us in all. I couldn`t resist taking a few photos, it`ll probably be a long time before we`re all together again. Eldest grandson couldn`t be there because he now lives in Wales.
When we arrived home at 10.30pm, Mia ran out of the door, she`s not usually allowed out at night, but she seized the opportunity. I thought with it being so very cold she`d soon be back, and with not liking to keep opening the door late at night, I put the security cameras on TV so that I could see when she came back. At 2.45am I reluctantly gave up and went to bed, but it was white over outside, and I couldn`t sleep for worrying about her. This morning my daughter shouted upstairs that she could hear miaowing on the other side of the bathroom wall, which is the garage. I put my coat on and went out to unlock the garage door, opened it, and out shot Mia! She must have sneaked in when my SIL put the wheelchair away. I wonder if it`ll teach her not to be so flipping nosey? Somehow I doubt it!

cornergran Sun 22-Jan-17 23:21:55

That sounds just a little more hopeful jud, sending Georgie lots of get well wishes. X

Nelliemoser Sun 22-Jan-17 23:28:43

I just looked in for news about Georgie. She is a lovely dog.
I am sending healing vibes for Georgie and a (((hug))) for Jud.

NanaandGrampy Mon 23-Jan-17 11:15:21

Morning!

Up, dressed , photographer been for more darn photos ! I can't tell you how immaculate my house is !

Callgirl what a lovely thing to do to get everyone together. I would have had my camera out too! But Mia was lucky she got locked in and not out in this bitter weather.

I came looking for news of Georgie . I hope all is well even if an op is essential .

sunseeker Mon 23-Jan-17 11:20:19

Callgirl I did the same on my late husband's birthday, only as we didn't have children I arranged a meal with all his brothers and sisters and their families. I told them this was one more treat from him and during the meal we all shared stories about him. There was a lot of laughter (he was a very funny man and was always cracking jokes).
