This kitchen will be ready for those who care to share...smile

soop Thu 26-Jan-17 14:29:11

It's a big ask. wink

soop Thu 26-Jan-17 17:20:37

The close of another day. MacSporran has had his scalp zapped. It's not a pretty sight. The skin will heal for a time. Returns to the dermatologist in six months.

It's awfully parky. The wind is whipping up the sea. Time to be cosy and say goodnight. I'm hopeful of hearing that Georgie is continuing to recover...one day at a time. smilemoon

MawBroon Thu 26-Jan-17 17:26:58

It is bitter, even here in the "soft Sooth." I don't think the temperature has risen above zero all day and it has remained cloudy and misty.
DH's cellulitis seems to be responding to the anti-b's smile but his Hb isn't holding up so back tomorrow for more blood sad
However he is OK to be left so in the meantime I am off out (!) with DD3's MIL to see Thoroughly Modern Millie at MK theatre. Girls' night out smile
I expect toes will be tapping.

callgirl1 Thu 26-Jan-17 17:29:12

I`m pleased that Georgie is making a little progress, hopefully she will continue to get better.
Soop, I wouldn`t like to have been on that fishing boat, that sea was a bit too choppy for me! I hope MacSporran`s poor bonce isn`t TOO sore.
Thank you all for the condolences for my friend. I will miss Mavis, we didn`t see each other all the time, just every few weeks, but we`d have a right good old natter for a couple of hours, I`ve nobody to natter with now, well, there`s Mia, but she only knows one word of reply, "Mew".
Fingers crossed N&G, that you soon have a sale. Have you been to look at any houses yourself yet?
Galen, welcome back to the human race, good to see you!

Charleygirl Thu 26-Jan-17 19:29:42

I agree, MawBroon the temperature has been O C in London and at times below 0 C- it has felt very cold indeed. Tara has just come home having been out for 12 hours and she feels warmer than I do. She has retired to bed, waiting for me no doubt.

cornergran Thu 26-Jan-17 20:31:55

One degree in Wales today, a balmy 1.5 now we are home. Pleased you have made it out the other side of the bug, Galen. It's a humdinger.

Had a thought about your doctor couple, n&g, at least they shouldn't freak at seeing the toilet paper grin.

soop, unlike callgirl I would love it on that little boat, love to be on any sort of boat and don't have the motion sickness gene. How lucky am I? I hope the zapping doesn't make MacS too uncomfortable and he can have a good night. Hope all goes well at the hospital maw, your evening out sounds fun, nice antidote to hospitals.

Feet up now, just had a bowl of soup and plan nothing else today. Stay warm and well everyone.

annodomini Thu 26-Jan-17 20:38:46

callgirl. I was so sorry to hear the news of your good friend. ((((hugs)))) - Wish I could do more. xx

annodomini Thu 26-Jan-17 20:42:13

The thermometer has been registering zero or below all day and it is now minus 3. I got my furry hat out and either my head has shrunk or the hat has stretched. It came right down to the top of my glasses. grin

callgirl1 Thu 26-Jan-17 20:51:36

Thank you Anno.
Cornergran, I wouldn`t be sick on the boat, it`s the rough sea that would scare me, I can`t swim, so if I went overboard I`d be a gonner!

Mildred Thu 26-Jan-17 20:58:12

Grandchildren down today, baking cakes with granddaughter, scientific experiments with grandson, mess in both cases. The day did not start well though, the landline went at 4am this morning, climbed over snoring husband to get the phone, to be asked had I ordered a curry, I politely said no and hung up, gently putting the phone down so as not to wake snoring husband. I wish I could sleep like that. Chocolate chip cakes courtesy of granddaughter. Going to watch Lucy Worsley then bed to hopefully sleep.

Judthepud2 Thu 26-Jan-17 20:58:55

A better day for Georgie. Much more alert after physiotherapy and acupuncture. Some movement in her tail and hind legs but she still can't walk. Took GS2, who is her special buddy, to see her and she was so pleased to see him! She has lost a lot of weight and looks a bit frail but starting to eat again.

Sounds like you are all having a very cold spell. Chilly here but nothing like below freezing. Keep yourself and your animals cosy.

Galen Thu 26-Jan-17 20:59:03

1° here atm.

Crafting Thu 26-Jan-17 21:03:24

I've been locked out ??. For 3 days I've been banging on the kitchen windows and begging to be let in but have been out in the cold❄️❄️. GNHQ have been trying to help but after I did a software update on my iPad I couldn't log in again. At last I'm back ?.

callgirl so sorry about your friend (huggs)

Galen glad you're feeling better and zooming up and down on your stairlift again.

Crafting Thu 26-Jan-17 21:04:36

Fingers crossed for Georgie jud

Charleygirl Thu 26-Jan-17 21:10:53

Jud I do hope that it is swelling that is causing Georgie's problem. Nice to see her awake and also pleased to hear that she was delighted to get more visitors today, especially GS2.

Izabella Thu 26-Jan-17 21:49:39

Enjoying the mental picture of soops whipped sea, and also the look of those cakes Mildred. Also hope the pate is not too tender for MacSporren

Pleased Georgie is a little further down the perky road.

I personally made a huge error of judgement earlier this afternoon. It looked bright enough outside so I decided to do a bit more tidying up on the woodland. Well I managed a total of about 20 minutes then gave up. Never in my life have my hands felt so cold. When I got back to the kitchen I was nearly crying with the pain. I am not a wimp and have spent most of my life outside in all weathers with animals, trekked in Antarctica etc. The temp. Was showing 1 degree but it felt to astonishingly colder. This is truly weird weather

Fish for dinner in a Parmesan, paprika and lemon crust beautifully prepared and cooked by OH and served with wafer thin sweet potato. Very nice. Wonderful to have a deputy chef.

Night night everyone. Looking forward to another good nights sleep. HOpefully

wot Thu 26-Jan-17 21:55:04

Lovely doggy! So glad she's getting better, Jud. X

cornergran Thu 26-Jan-17 22:39:03

Good for Georgie, jud, hope you can sleep now

Oh dear, callgirl, I'm no swimmer either, it's never occurred to me I may fall overboard, or not until now. hmm. May need a chocolate chip cake while I come to terms with this. grin.

Judthepud2 Fri 27-Jan-17 00:07:19

Hah! No sleep for me tonight Corner! I have horrendous toothache. Like I needed this. ?

Bellanonna Fri 27-Jan-17 00:11:39

Oh Jud ! Life's being a bit unfair at the moment. I know of no worse kind of pain.
Hope painkillers ease it and that the dentist can do something soon. It's lovely that Georgie is making progress, however slowly. Bless her, the pic is lovely?

cornergran Fri 27-Jan-17 00:42:55

Oh no jud, been there recently, it's foul. Temporary filling sorted the pain, if the cough has subsided enough on Tuesday we begin the process for a crown. I found a large glass of wine and ibuprofen helped with the pain in many levels smile. So sorry you have that to cope with as well, hope it's something a friendly dentist can fix quickly for you. In the meantime flowers for you, guess I'd better re-cross my fingers for you tonight.

kittylester Fri 27-Jan-17 07:41:54

Just popped in to see how Georgie is only to find that jud is suffering even more. sad I wonder if the toothache is caused by stress? In a difficult situation lots of us clench our jaws which can cause referred pain. Try ibuprofen if you can take it.

Soop, I hope MacS is not too tender round the scalp. Give him a hug from us if necessary!

It's that cold round here to Izabella - definitely not warm enough to be gardening! brew

I only realise that I can't swim well when there is no land in sight - I really should think about it before boarding a boat. confused

Glad you managed to get back in the kitchen Crafting, it's perishing out there.

N&G, we happily sold our previous house (a happy family home where we had brought up our children) to a lovely couple with 2 children who only stayed 2 years - I felt, unreasonably, betrayed!

On the subject of losing the plot - I spent a very long time yesterday trying to get into mum's home using my bank pin! The staff offered me a bed in the next room to mum after they had stopped laughing. I declined the offer!!

Greyduster Fri 27-Jan-17 08:28:58

Nice to hear that Georgie might be making some progress, jud. Baby steps. Sorry to hear about your toothache - I had one last year when we were on holiday but after a night of horrible pain, the next day it had gone and never came back. I hope yours is one of those.
I miss baking with my GS, mildred - we used to have a lot of fun. He's not so keen these days. I have volunteered (like a fool) to make him a Minecraft cake for his upcoming birthday and I am finding the prospect a bit daunting. I may have bitten off a bit more cake than I can chew!

Izabella Fri 27-Jan-17 08:39:29

Oh no. I truly believe tooth ache is one of the worst things in life. Let's hope it is either short lived or quickly sorted Jud

Poor Bella is nonplussed this morning. The usual early morning 'dig' impossible due to frozen ground.

Nelliemoser Fri 27-Jan-17 08:55:42

Galen Its good to hear you are feeling better. You seem to have been out of circulation for ages.
