Nellie what a handsome young man, bright and intelligent. kitty young Kiwi is not too sure what is going on in your house and would like some peace and quiet for at least 8 hours please, none of this photographing when he has not been informed and certainly has not given his permission.

Greyduster Thu 19-Jan-17 11:14:20

nellie what a gorgeous little chap. I remember when my GS looked the same. Now there isn't an ounce of spare flesh on him; he runs like the wind, eats like a horse (when the fancy takes him!) and never seems to feel the cold.

I stood watching two cats opposite our house squaring up to each other; every inch of fur fluffed out to the max, each trying to out stare the other! My money was on the grey one, and sure enough, before long, the other one slunk off into the shrubbery. At least they weren't taking lumps out of each other!

Ann I'm so sorry for what you are going through. I hope crafting's lovely post, and the good wishes of others, have comforted you a little.
Please get help. If your DH had cancer you wouldn't think twice about having specialised care at home or from a hospice.
You shouldn't be struggling alone with this.

I am sorry , I didn' t mean to say anything to make out that I am worse than anyone , the point. is when I got help the relief was great . The District Nurse is a source of help with toilet mishaps , for example . I would have put this in a PM but have no idea how , ohdear digging a hole here !!

kittylester Thu 19-Jan-17 13:47:52

aggie, none of us thought you were being anything other than kind and caring. flowers

kittylester Thu 19-Jan-17 13:50:06

Kiwi's photograph is quite flattering actually as he has quite a round tummy! Or, as DD3 said at lunchtime 'Crikey, Kiwi, you've put on weight!' blush

soop Thu 19-Jan-17 14:12:04

annsixty Crafting's message says it all. It has brought a lump to my throat. Thank you, Crafting for expressing the thoughts of many of us in such a wise, sympathetic and timely manner. flowers

For the moment, I'm going away to attend to a few pressing jobs. ann's ongoing weariness has finally come to a head. I'm hoping that she will read ALL the supportive messages. I shall return.

annodomini Thu 19-Jan-17 15:28:25

Nellie, I love that picture of your GS. He is what my MiL would have called 'bonny' which, I found out, meant chubby in her Yorkshire parlance whereas in Scotland it means good-looking. Anyway, your little lad is both, though once he gets on his feet the baby chubbiness will melt away.

moomin Thu 19-Jan-17 15:42:49

annsixty you are very much in my thoughtsflowers

NanaandGrampy Thu 19-Jan-17 17:04:23

Oh I'm in trouble !!

I know I am.

How you might ask?

weeellllll........ I have type 2 diabetes which I manage quite badly sometimes. I do try but there are times when it all gets too much and I'm less than good.

I had my fasting blood test( which I do twice a year) on Monday and this afternoon the surgery rang to tell me in light of that the doctor wanted to see me at 12:30 sharp tomorrow.

Given that you cant get an appointment inside 2 weeks normally even if you are dying ....I am taking this to mean my blood test is bad.

Now usually, I have a lovely lady doctor who berates me in the gentlest way and I go away motivated to try harder.

BUT tomorrow I am meeting the curmudgeonly one who will tell me off loudly then tell me' You're a smart woman work out how to lose weight ( I quote )'

I shall come out wanting to dive into a family size bag of doughnuts !

I'm depressed just thinking about it.

whitewave Thu 19-Jan-17 17:06:50

Best of luck grin

NanaandGrampy Thu 19-Jan-17 17:11:05

I may not make it Whitewave wink

Swanny Thu 19-Jan-17 18:03:42

One of my neighbours has a curmudgeonly GP and is always bemoaning the fact. The rest of us keep telling him to change to another surgery but for some reason he won't ... I think he's worried a new GP may send him for all sorts of tests and find all sorts of illnesses, whereas his current one apparently keeps telling him 'What do you expect - you're an old man now' shock

Greyduster Thu 19-Jan-17 18:07:43

If any of our doctors said that to me, N&G, I would be outraged, considering how many of the non-GP staff in the practice are overweight - one or two of them grossly - including one of the nurses! Let's hope your doc's having a good day!

Charleygirl Thu 19-Jan-17 18:08:41

N&G I would not be at all surprised if you are now a type 1 insulin dependent diabetic if you have had the summons so soon after the blood test results are in. Good luck.

NanaandGrampy Thu 19-Jan-17 18:11:37

My thoughts also Charlie ?

Charleygirl Thu 19-Jan-17 18:16:47

I cannot think of any other reason to give you such a fast track appointment.

Have you lost weight recently?

Nelliemoser Thu 19-Jan-17 18:38:45

Anno In Leicestershire "Bonny" meant fat. The nuances of dialects eh!

thatbags Thu 19-Jan-17 19:42:44

I received a text from soop earlier this evening. She has been having internet connection problems again and sends her apologies. She was very sad to read annsixty's news in particular.

I also hope things ease a little for you, ann, somehow or other. It really sounds as if you are in desperate need of some practical help and some quiet time to yourself. I wish you all the best. flowers

POGS Thu 19-Jan-17 19:58:20

annsixty

I am a 'kitchen lurker' Ann and have noted the sadness in your posts so please accept wishes from myself too.

Sometimes in life we have to go into 'keep going mode' but it does cause both physical and mental problems to contend with and I am sorry you are at such a low ebb. You are a poster we shall all wait to hear from again , if and when you are ready.

Do try and take of 'both' of you. flowers

(sorry I have put this on your other thread too)

NanaandGrampy Thu 19-Jan-17 20:04:36

Sadly , no Charlie I haven't lost any weight . Maybe my medication needs review - I'm ever hopeful !

Izabella Thu 19-Jan-17 20:22:08

crafting just had a chance to read your post. How lovely and caring. I doubt any of us can add to that.

nanaandgrampy don't panic. I reversed mine low carbing. It is hard to get into initially, but becomes easier with practice. The alternative is not worth contemplating. Have a look on the low carb support thread. It's very comfortable in there too!!

NanaandGrampy Thu 19-Jan-17 21:46:04

Thanks Izabella I'm sure you're right , I'll take a look at that thread.

Galen Thu 19-Jan-17 22:47:27

N&G I've noticed recently that they seem to be adding insulin to patients with type 2 diabetes who are not well controlled.
But frankly, weight loss would be the the best.
Flippantly, try the bug I've just had, I've lost half a stone!
