Hello, Good Morning & HI. I am a newby here but, I hasten to add, how can I be classed as a newby at 80 years old? Things have been a bit rough for me recently and at the moment I am imprisoned in my own house. However, the warder, my wife, is a gem and looks after me very well. I hope she reads this then I may get an extra biscuit for tea. She has me to contend with, a budgie, and a big dog, both of whom are as old as me. The dog, Benny, is a rescue dog and is quite a handful. Benny is a Staffy and is big, black, hefty and barks at everyone he sees but only because he wants to make a fuss of them. People of course don't know this and give him a wide berth................ AAHHH, some cheese sarnies have arrived so I will pause here for my lunch and play with Joey after which I will return and tell you more. Bye for now, Brian.

Hello Bumblebee you didn't post today, hope you're OK and feeling a little bit better? I'll look for your post tomorrow.

Hello All, Had a walk yesterday to try and get my legs organised and, hopefully, will manage another one today. As the saying goes, use it or lose it. Thank you for your concern and I will try and find my sense of humour again. The last time I saw it Benny was playing with it on the floor, rolling over and laughing his head off.

We were watching the birds yesterday and we saw one we had never seen before. It was a brambling, distinct by its' colour, orange. Any body else seen one?

Breakfast time.

Mrs B. here, for the last four months I have been working on a baby quilt for my number six grandson, born on the 25th Feb, in Minnesota. Finished it just in time. It is 34 x 43 inches.

The photo gets flipped but it was upright when I took it.

Chewbacca Tue 28-Feb-17 08:55:58

Morning The B household! Lovely to hear from you again! I've not seen a brambling I don't think. Mind you, any bird that hangs around here long enough to be identified is asking for trouble! There are more cats that people I think!
Mrs B that quilt is just beautiful, grandson is a very lucky little boy to have such a talented grandma, it really is quite lovely. It's snowing where I am, so I'm off to walk to the shops to get a few groceries. Take care if it's snowing near you.

shysal Tue 28-Feb-17 09:12:55

Wow Mrs B! The quilt is fantastic! How is it made, did it come as a kit? Also congratulations on the birth of your new grandchild. How often do you get to see your family in the US?
I really think you should join GN separately with a user name of your own, so that we know when we are talking to the boss.smile

Mr B, I am pleased to hear that you are on the move again. Take it slowly but surely. Getting older is a b*tch isn't it? I have only seen a few bramblings in my garden over the years, usually when the weather is particularly cold. The snow brings fieldfare and redwings which come in from the farmland. I am also lucky enough to live in an area where red kites have successfully been re-introduced, they are magnificent. Nightly visitors to feed on peanuts are badgers, more interesting to watch than the TV! I also see Muntjac and foxes day or night. What wildlife to you see around you?

bumblebee123 Tue 28-Feb-17 11:39:31

thanks for the compliments. This quilt was a kit and believe me one of the most difficult embroidery kits I've done. This one was for grandbaby no. 6, my youngest daughter's first baby. Everyone doing well and coming home today. Minnesota weather nasty and freezing cold, but they get along well in that stuff. England's cold is now enough for this old body. Time to feed all three of my boys some dinner. Have a nice day

What a gorgeous quilt Mrs B. Couldn't stop looking at it. Congratulations on your new grandson and hope you get to see him soon. You have quite a few feeders in the garden too so you will attract more bird species. I have seen brambling though not in my garden. I was surprised at how small they are. You both have interesting things to say so why not register yourself Mrs B and you could then join in chats that Mr B might not be interested in. It's good to see himself up and about now and hope to see you both again soon. Do feel free to wander around and join in. There are even some games to play.
Sal that's a lovely picture of the badger. I think you are privileged! I have only ever seen them as road kill sadly. My one claim to that kind of thing was having a pine marten come to the garden one night but we were on holiday in W Scotland. I think it was the highlight of our week there!
Take care everyone, and I'll look out for Mr and Mrs B. Keep well both of you.

Hi All, had a walk yesterday, with crutches, but overdid it and struggled to get home. Will have an easy day today and try and find a picture to post. Do you like photos?

123Honeybee Wed 01-Mar-17 10:55:00

Is anyone else in the same predicament as me? If I go out I have to use elbow crutches and after a short while they start to hurt my hands. Think I must look for padded gloves. Does anyone use the crutches that go under the armpits?

Bellanonna Wed 01-Mar-17 11:11:36

Welcome as a new member Mrs Honeybee. I don't know that they make that crutch any more but im sure someone on the forum will. May I make a suggestion? Start a new thread and then hopefully people who have knowledge of crutches will be able to help. People don't usually stay long on the new member thread once they have been welcomed so my concern would be that not many people will read this. Starting a new thread is always a good idea as it will be seen by far more people and hopefully you will get a lot of answers.
I would be inclined, too, to share your picture of that lovely cover on the Soop's Kitchen thread. Lots of people make similar posts and will enjoy looking at your handiwork.
I hope bb is able to get out again today. Yes he should share his pictures too, animals et al, - Soop's Kitchen especially welcomes pets. Both of you enjoy your day and look forward to catching up with you.

.honeybee a friend's daughter wraps thick cotton wool covered in bandages and topped with a pair of socks on the hand parts of her elbow crutches.
The socks are easily changed and washed and she dosen't have to re bandage so frequently.

bumblebee123 Wed 01-Mar-17 13:11:35

OOPS, identity probs. The letter regarding crutches shouldn't be under 123honeybee, but bumlebee123..... My fault. Too many bees, too many bums and not enough honey.smile grin blush

Hello! We do online shopping and DH goes to asda a lot as he like to get out of the house when he can escape! Of all the things we are coerced into watching with the grandchildren Peppa Pig is my one of my favourite! II can hum the theme tune too. Thomas the Tank is quite good as well but I hate Paw Patrol!

bumblebee123 Wed 01-Mar-17 13:59:59

he used my name by mistake but when I went to use my new name it said it wasn't mine....so I put it under his again.

shysal Wed 01-Mar-17 14:47:47

Mr and Mrs B, I am totally confused now!

bumblebee123 Wed 01-Mar-17 15:06:04

Hey, Hey, We are up the pole here having to log in and out. We have reached a conclusion, whereby I will sign my christian name, Brian, and SWMBO will sign her christian name Victoria Mardelle, or, Victoria. Hope this is in keeping with the rules. Hence, I am me, Brian, and she is she, Victoria.

Brian...smile

bumblebee123 Wed 01-Mar-17 15:12:18

GrannyA, We also like Peppa Pig, better than watching all the violence, and Joey the budgie goes mad when he hears Thomas The Tank music. We join in whistling and singing when that is on. Oh, isn't it lovely to be daft. grin...

Brian.

good morning all, just waiting groceries to arrive, early delivery this morning. Wretched rain again most of the afternoon so it looks as if benny will not be out as many times as he would like. Usually try to get him out at least three times, but on good days he gets four. Have to put him on my back to carry him home (not really) when we are on the road back on walk number four, but he still wants to go out again. He definitely prefers the outside spaces. Can't wait until he can spend the en

entire summer outside. I just hit the wrong button and the first part of the msg was posted. Sorry about that, still getting to grips with a new type of keyboard. The laptop BB bought me is great but I type too fast and hit the wrong buttons sometimes. Going to checkout some other sites - have a good day... just honeybee

bumblebee123 Fri 03-Mar-17 07:05:49

We got so confused about logging in that it has caused complete chaos here.confused When I was trying to log in Victoria said to me, "Are you going in as yourself or me?"
"I'm going in as myself," I replied.
"Then why are you wearing my bra?" she retorted.
However, she is, OOPS, Victoria is going to stay logged in on the laptop as Honeybee and I am staying logged in as Bumblebee on the other computer. If anyone understands this then please explain it on the back of a dried up teabag.
Well, I am begining to smile again. angry
I SAID SMILE. smile
That's better. Brian.

Hi Shysal, Oh how lucky you are to have badgers and muntjac. We have foxes here but not in the garden. We see them in the street. Our back garden is completely fenced in. We have lots of birds and squirrels. The squirrels give us hours of entertainment with their antics. They literally fly through the trees at an alarming speed chasing one another. I will make up a list of the birds we get.
Brian.

123Honeybee Fri 03-Mar-17 07:38:58

He forgot to mention the wildlife that live in the house next door to us. They don't like animals or trees. We have numerous birds etc and a tree laden garden, but I don't care much about them any longer. I tried very hard to Be a good neighbour when I came to England in 2000 but after him trying to butcher my 40+ year old oak tree and some other instances -simply don't have the time or patience to even think about things I would like to do to his bald headed chauvinistic body. Then I take a deep breath, come back to reality and remember those things are against the law. The best thing is that the environmental folks paid us a visit because of his complaints about feeding our babies... but they told us we were just fine and we could continue as we were... that angered them, but they couldn't do anything about our babies. Oh well, back to the watching for van...
