Thank you Lona , nelliemoser et al. I do feel so sorry for him, this is not as dramatic and life threatening as previous crises have been (although I suppose it is life threatening) but it's not "blues and twos" dramatic. But his quality of life is way down, although fortunately he is quite happy with his books and the occasional bit of TV, early nights, late mornings but sadly not a lot in between.
Something will have to happen, but quite what, I really don't know!

maw I feel for you and your DH with so many things bringing him down. It must be a real struggle for you both. Not sure what else to say other than you both deserve medal and some better news or a couple of if that's mor use.

Hello, what a day. Benny woke us at 4:30am for a pee. He would not go to sleep after that and we are extremely tired. For those of you who do not know Benny, he is a rescue dog who had been in kennels for two years. He is a big black staffy who nobody wanted. He is old and a bit doddery on his back legs, a bit like me.
Jud, we are pleased to hear that Georgie is making some improvement. Would love to see a photo of her in her buggy.

I sympathise with your lovely Benny. My Grace (a retired racing greyhound) is turning 14 and sometimes the long greyhound legs are like Bambi on ice and I worry that she is on the way out. As charleygirl will attest, she spends quite a lot of time asleep, but hey, she has earned her retirement.
Does Benny take Metacam(anti inflammatories)? It has given Gracie a bit of a new lease of life -fingers crossed for few more months.

I am recovering from a terrible moment I had earlier. I thought I had wrongly booked my Geology trip flight to Iceland next month. The company phoned to find out which flight I was on. I checked it on my paper work agreed it was the 12 O'clock flight then I had a complete panic when I thought I had booked the wrong day.

I was due to go on Friday 24th but I had the date of the 25th in mind as that was the day of the choir concert I would be missing.
My brain went into panic mode and I had that dreadful sinking feeling all through my stomach. I went onto the Iceland air website to see if I could change the flight but fortunately did not get as far as re-booking when I saw the correct date of Friday 24th that was on my tour brochure. Not a nice moment at all. I did treat myself to a small dose of medicinal Damson Gin afterwards to calm myself down. I just hope there are no new volcanic eruptions before then.

I know that feeling in the stomach. It's horrible. Glad all ok. Hope you've got your thermals ready?

Oh nellie, that would have been what is called a 'cure for the constipation' moment around here . Pleased all turned out well. Volcanic eruptions will not be permitted. .

Hairgate over maw? Pleased you sorted it. I have a haircut next week. Could be my turn then, it's never a guaranteed stress free event. So sorry your husband is having a hard time, you make light of it but it must wear you both out. Now that smile of Flynn's would brighten any day. He's great.

Welcome, bumblebee and mrs bumble if she has come along. There is serious dog envy in the kitchen from some of us who don't have a canine companion at the moment. Dog napping is possible.

We seem to have escaped the worst of today's storm, wind is now at a level it is possible to stand up in. Had a bit of a chortle at a local news bulletins where the reporter was being sand blasted on our always windy beach, he could hardly stand up and was not a happy lad, what did they expect? I do feel better today, temperature down, energy returning but the flipping cough is still alive and well so expect I am driving Mr C nuts, but he wouldn't say, nice man that he is. Will have an easy day tomorrow, so no nagging , please. Not that anyone in the kitchen would .

Maw that is a lovely photo of Flynn! I am looking at a photograph now on my dressing table of DS sitting on his rocking horse. He has a sort of "don't mess with me, I'm John Wayne" look on his face. He was about eighteen months old. This year he is fifty. Hope your DH will feel a bit better today.

nellimoser when I saw your post about the goat song it brought the tune into my head, as DH used to sing it sometimes to the children. He learned it at school. He can't remember many of his Welsh songs nowadays, only the ones he sings at rugby matches. I'm glad you sorted out your "flight fright" - what a horrible panic!

bags I guess you live in a dark sky area. I envy you that. We have been known to drive out onto the Peak District moorland (in the summer) to star gaze. Even there you get some light pollution.

HI, it's the boss here to wish a 'Good Morning', to y'all. We're going to a have a restful day here, if Benny lets us. His Lordship really needs it. Yesterday I made 18 cakes for the birdies. We used to buy them but they were often left. I now have my own recipe and the birds go mad for them.
The storm died down here at five o'clock yesterday and HWTHIB (He who thinks he is boss), was very relieved. He hates the wind. Don't we all.

Hello Bumblebee. What's your recipe fir the bird cakes? It's interesting how selective they can be. The squirrels used to get to mine first so I stopped making them.

Well further to my sandwich saga (?) I nipped into Waitrose to buy some flowers for a friend who is 80 today and happened to mention my stupidity with the self scanner (and their absence of a shelf to put scanned items on). I had no receipt but must have an honest face because they refunded me the price of the sandwich (£3)!!!

Yes I find Waitrose very customer friendly. Glad you got a refund.

MawBroon that was very decent of Waitrose. I note that Grace is resting, her eyes are open and she is so comfortable. I would not mind joining her but I would have problems getting up again.

Flynn is as relaxed and happy as always. You have fabulous photos of him but he may not be quite so enthused to see them when he is in his late teens as I am now!

The rewiring continues- my bedroom is being tackled as I type. I am ever hopeful I will not be stepping over holes in the floor tonight because with my memory anything can happen when I go to the loo.

Glorious morning here. Wall to wall sunshine bouncing of the nodding snowdrops. Quite magical. The river is up and crashing past, the occasional kamikazee duck venturing downstream on roller coaster waves. Lots of tree trunks and branches flowing by. All observed by a concerned Bella who does not like it when the river is up. She is on alert on her windowsill in full observation mode. ?

Sowing tomato seeds this morning and more one handed tidying in the greenhouse. Wrist quite painful over the fracture site this morning, not sure why. It's been fine.

Good Morning everybody, been talking to my son in Australia all morning. His dogs come up to the camera to give me a kiss. They are labradoodles and gorgeous.

Charley Girl, thank you for the dog napping warning. Benny is always on a lead when he goes out in the front garden and that is well fenced. The back garden, which is a wild life haven, is impregnant, err, unpre .... err, very hard to get into so he is safe.

What is the most exciting thing you have planned for today? I am hoping to climb the north face of Everest on a baking tray full of finely grated orange peel......backwards. ...
