All ready for business...pull up a chair smile

annodomini Tue 07-Mar-17 09:47:36

MawB, a stubbed toe is horrid and the little toe especially vulnerable. I hope the swelling has subsided by now. I found flip-flops invaluable when I broke one of mine... but that was in the summer.

Greyduster Tue 07-Mar-17 10:47:53

MawB just thinking about your painful toe is sending shivers through me; I have done that a time or two but it hasn't been so bad as yours.
Hedge bashing continues apace. Where is bags when you need her? She should be quite an expert now, she seems to have been hard at it this year doing the same thing. It's not the cutting that's the problem, of course, it is the disposal of the end product. The upside is that we now have an extra twenty five or so square feet of garden that we didn't have before. I said to DH that it would be a good place for a summer house. He narrowed his eyes, pursed his lips and said nothing. That's a no, then!

Charleygirl Tue 07-Mar-17 10:49:22

Maw I would put money on it that you have broken your toe- now you know how Grace feels on a bad day. Unfortunately there is little one can do about it except wait. I know I am speaking to the wind but try to rest and elevate it.

Mildred Tue 07-Mar-17 11:59:54

Don't know if I mentioned it but GD was sofa jumping last Tuesday, Dad in charge, and she hurt her wrist, drop in centre X-rays showed she had bent the bone, given a brace and an appointment at Alder Hey, just been today doesn't need a plaster cast, just wear the brace for 2 weeks, back to hospital in 6 weeks for a check up, the wonder of having 3 year old bones. Hope your toe improves Maw I am have done the same, painful.

kittylester Tue 07-Mar-17 13:47:08

Ouch, Maw, toes really hurt and really make me cringe. Hope it's a little better now. brew

Charley you are having a buggeration of a time but your sense of humour is still intact.[ grin] I can beat your 1996, in DH's reorganisation of the study we found a TSB passbook with £6 in, dating back to 1992 - I think we will go on holiday on all the interest that will have accrued.

How is MacS's head, soop? Any sign of Bracken?

Hope the bugs continue to bugger off corner, you have been under the weather for far too long.

I'm jiggered today after seeing the celebrant yesterday but we have tickets for a concert in Birmingham tonight. I'd far rather be at home dozing in front of Holby but it's one of DH's favourite jazz musicians, and he has been quite neglected very good since Mum died, so I am girding my loins. Will they notice if I drop off? Actually, the music will put a stop to that. grin

Have returned from a chaotic care home visit. Utterly shattered. More garden to sort out. Low on the oomph to tackle it.

Stubbed toes. Fingers trapped in doors. Sprained other bits and bobs...all total buggerations. Maw I feel your pain.

granniequeenie It's nice to go travelling...but, in my opinion, it's so much nicer to return home.

Mldred Sofa jumping can be a hazardous pastime. I frequently keep in shape with such exercise. wink Only joking! I do remember accidentally catching my son's finger in the car door. He was about five at the time. He sustained a "greenstick fracture". The bones, like your granddaughters, were bendy. I felt AWFUL! He didn't feel too good either.

Greyduster My job for the afternoon, will involve shoving myself along on my hands and knees and pulling up dead vegetation by the barrow-load. If I bend, I stumble. It's safer to crawl. Getting upright again can be a challenge. I felt ashamed of myself during yesterday's garden blitz. I mumbled ...^I hate this garden^ under my breath. That is a sad thing to think about what should be a "pleasure". I know that in a few weeks the hard graft will have been tackled. The garden will be a joy to behold. So, soop stop feeling sorry for yourself...and get out there.

Away to don the gardening clobber and arm myself with the necessary implements to do a "proper job"...back to catch up when I come in for a brew

soop Tue 07-Mar-17 13:59:06

kitty
MacS's head looks awful. It is scabbing over. Thumb is black and blue. I changed the bandage and he said...will you tie a reef knot...I tied what he then proclaimed to be a granny knot. We stared at each other for some long time. Then we laughed. hmm He came perilously close to being chastised, shock No sign of "wee girl"...we look out for her and we do miss her.

annsixty Tue 07-Mar-17 14:23:18

My D and GD have been to visit Stevie G again this morning. She is adorable. They are picking her up in 2 weeks.

annsixty Tue 07-Mar-17 14:24:24

Actually she is a he!! I had better not attempt the transgender thread.

kittylester Tue 07-Mar-17 14:44:47

Stop posting pictures of adorable puppies please!! grin

Bellanonna Tue 07-Mar-17 14:48:11

No don't go there ann ! HE is absolutely gorgeous isn't he? Hope you get to see a lot of him.

annsixty Tue 07-Mar-17 15:17:13

I would just like to say, I am feeling much brighter and in better spirits today.
I downloaded the information from Carers UK and frankly I don't think SS can do much for me that I can't sort out for myself. We have sufficient income to buy in help and I think that is the path I will go down. I don't want to become a statistic on the SS register. I hope people realise where I am coming from with that thinking.
A very good and long standing friend who moved with her H to NE Lincs has asked us to go and stay for a few days. I have decided that we will go but will stay in the local Premier Inn. I like my own timetable to a certain extent and I will find H easier to cope with. We will of course see them during the day and have meals out at night. We haven't done that for some time but I have decided to give things a chance. I realise how low I have been but am determined to try new things and see just how they go.
Sorry that that was all me,me,me but I felt I should let you in on my new determination.
I will be 80 in 4 months time, I can't afford to hang about.???

Galen Tue 07-Mar-17 15:55:40

soop tell McSporran to behave or I'll be on his trail.
( that should frighten him if he's got any sense)?☠️?

kittylester Tue 07-Mar-17 16:20:31

Brilliant news about you planned break, ann. Don't dismiss SS out of hand. We had an absolutely fabulous social worker when we needed help with sorting out Mum. I had been determined not to avail myself of the service but really wished I had sooner. I had an email from her out of the blue last week. She had seen the notice of Mum's death in the paper and wrote to express her sympathy and to say she had enjoyed working with us.

That should scare him Galen! Hope you are ok, I have missed you in the kitchen.

soop, you could have just made sure the knot was super tight!! grin

Greyduster Tue 07-Mar-17 16:20:41

Ann so pleased to read that you are feeling brighter! Seize all opportunities by the scruff and take what pleasure you can from them. I hope you and your DH have a lovely time with your friends!

MawBroon Tue 07-Mar-17 16:25:41

Ooh annsixty don't say a word to Gracie but I am having a serious attack of puppy envy ???

Galen Tue 07-Mar-17 16:27:00

I'm not too bad. The arthritis is playing up a bit. They've agreed to employ me for another year so I've booked another cruise in September 2018 14 days on the QE. That makes 5 I've got booked, and I've got the same suite on all of them! Can't wait!

soop Tue 07-Mar-17 16:34:29

Dearest ann Wow! Your latest message put a very silly grin on my face. Us lot have breathed a collective sigh of relief. Relief that you have seemingly turned a corner. You sound determined and it's that same determination that WILL help you to re-schedule and experience well-deserved pleasure in your daily life. Yes! Go to visit your friends. Yes! Stay in the Premier Inn...we do the same whenever we're away from home. Enjoy yourselves. grin sunshine flowers

Galen I conveyed your threat kind message to MacS and he tittered.
As kitty says, we've missed you. What have you been up to?

soop Tue 07-Mar-17 16:37:36

Galen Our posts crossed. Do the boat owners know that you'll be sailing the seven seas on five occasions. Heck! I bet they are in conference and mulling over the pros and cons of having you afloat. wink

Charleygirl Tue 07-Mar-17 16:39:20

Maw I am shocked- Grace would be much better off moving here where she will be loved and cherished but preferably after the fellows have gone

I do agree, that puppy is gorgeous- I have added it to my long doggy list.

soop Tue 07-Mar-17 16:48:46

I managed to achieve more than planned in the garden. The area that borders on the woodland is the toughest to tame. In fact, it will always remain part wilderness as it is rocky and on a bit of a slope. The water from the woodland drains into our so-called bog garden. The trench that I dug out has silted up and consequently the path leading to the rear of our home is like a lochen. I've persuaded MacS to contact a strapping hunk young man (who carries out odd jobs) to help construct another mini Suez on the opposite side of the fence. The very fence that MacS almost but not quite clambered over. I have told him (nicely) not to repeat the exercise.

Galen Tue 07-Mar-17 17:03:04

Cunard have dealt with stroppier passengers than me! I'm a pussycat!

annsixty Tue 07-Mar-17 17:13:52

I have booked it . We are going on March 19th just for 2 nights to " test the water".
Who knows what will ensue.

soop Tue 07-Mar-17 17:27:32

ann grin grin grin grin grin x

Galen Ha ha!

Away to gaze through the window, just in case Bracken has returned. We shall continue to hope. Should she appear, you lot will hear the good news before anyone else.

Ironing duty in the morning. Until I return, a fond farewell from a grey-ish Kintyre. smile moon

Bellanonna Tue 07-Mar-17 17:28:36

Something to look forward to ann. Hopefully other short trips will follow.
