All ready for business...pull up a chair smile

Gagagran Tue 14-Mar-17 20:00:20

Oh dear soop - poor you - you will feel stiff and sore and bruised tomorrow so may need extra supplies in the kitchen. Come on kitcheners - what delicacies can we leave for soop?

Thanks for the offer of a share of your bottle of wine kitty which I regretfully have to decline. Although much improved I have to avoid alcohol, spicy foods and acidic ones for the next two months. I don't mind a cup of tea though so would be happy to sip that while you and Charley sip (ha!ha!) the wine. wink

annodomini Tue 14-Mar-17 20:04:44

Were you concussed as well as gashed, soop? Rest your head while you keep your feet up. flowers

Bellanonna Tue 14-Mar-17 20:19:04

Oh, soop. ☹️ ! X

Charleygirl Tue 14-Mar-17 20:38:21

kitty I will soon be at the stage when I open a bottle of wine I will be using straws. I would not like to waste any so I am happy to partake of Gaga's share.

soop I do hope that your bilateral THRs are okay- that was a nasty fall. You really are a right pair because I doubt if *MacS's wounds have healed yet. You need an early night because the shock does take its toll.

I had an early shower to wash my hair. I had just put on my night attire when the doorbell rang and it was the young electrician to deliver my Part P certificate to state that the work was finished. I think that he was sorry that he came because he was here for well over an hour, sorting out switches that did not sync, (he admitted he had wired them wrongly) adjusted my sensor outdoor light which would not switch off and had a look at the non working new kitchen fan.

I pointed out the white sockets not changed to chrome and also the array in my living room, all mismatched, some alive, others dead. The new ones he fitted because he thought that I would see them better. I stated when I first met him I wanted plain chrome and it was my decision what I could and could not see, not his.

I then said he could fix them when he returns- he said he was very busy, my reply was that I had paid him ££xxx and he would be back early next week, I have a date.

The consumer unit was gobblydygook, I had no idea which switch did what so he has used a permanent marker.

He was supposed to come tomorrow am so at least he will not clash time wise with the man coming to measure for new blinds.

He got a few home truths this evening regarding the standard of his work and walking out on a customer, me, a week ago. To crown it all he asked me if I went to bed early, 6.30pm!!!! I had not had supper or obviously watched any TV SO the answer was definitely no.

I rang the blinds man warning him not to wear his best suit tomorrow as this place resembles a building site with heavy dust everywhere.

The joys of renovation.

Bellanonna Tue 14-Mar-17 20:58:36

Oh Charlie that makes depressing reading.

Bellanonna Tue 14-Mar-17 20:59:08

At least you won't have to go through it all again!

Tizliz Tue 14-Mar-17 21:01:53

soop you must be more careful, you can't upset/worry all of us. The garden doesn't matter as much as you do, let it grow wild

cornergran Tue 14-Mar-17 22:13:32

charley, that electrician has been on a steep learning curve. Good for you. Fingers remain crossed for you, life will be easier once the work is finished smile

Goodness, soop, you dont do things by halves. Our poorly friend fell top to bottom of her stairs, we've been wishing there was an air bag for staircases, will add one for gardens to that. Just be careful out there, sounds as if the young man in wellies needs to return. Please rest tomorrow.

Pleased you are fighting back retrolady, as ever charley is right, we shouldn't admit liability but in the emotion of the moment not always easy. Great that you have driven the route, no problem there. Good for you.

Funeral arranging is not for the faint hearted kitty. Please don't stress about your clothes, just go for whatever you will be the most comfortable in. No one else will notice.

Off for a consultant appointment with our poorly friend tomorrow, so don't think I will be able to call in. Keep safe everyone. soop are you listening?

grannyqueenie Tue 14-Mar-17 22:49:41

Oh soop so sorry hear about your tumble, you certainly don't do things by halves. Hope you are not too sore tomorrow. Poor Macsporran must have been so worried about you, as are we. Do take good care of yourself Sending a warm fleecy blanket and a pot of lentil soup so you can hunker down in the kitchen tomorrow and give yourself a chance to recover, would a wee dram help too?
Charley your renovation ramblings are worthy not so much of a book but more of an epic! You are indeed one strong woman, They're aren't many, and I'm including myself in that, who could manage everything you've been through. Will you be having a house warming party for us kitcheners? I think a bottle of bubbly or the like may be needed wine
It turned out to be s beautiful afternoon here so I went off on a jaunt with a good friend and her dog and had a good walk in the sunshine. It was her daughter's wedding at the weekend so I enjoyed hearing all about it. Meanwhile my old boy went on a walk of his own, slipped in a muddy field but fortunately no damage done. Bless him all the years of trading have paid off at last he had his muddy clothes already tumbling round in the washing machine by the time I got home.
Time for bed, busy volunteering all day tomorrow then a dental check up that'll be the one I attended last wed by accident shock Night all x

callgirl1 Tue 14-Mar-17 23:41:33

Soop, I do hope that you`re OK. Please take care Missus, we need you fit and well, as does MacSporran, you must have given him a fright as well.
My daughter number 2 has been helping me clear out one of the back bedrooms, it`s been a sort of junk room/dumping ground for years. Would anyone like a 2 foot high pile of PlayStation magazines? My husband didn`t like throwing them out when read, as you`ve probably gathered.

kittylester Wed 15-Mar-17 08:13:46

I bet you are stiff and sore this morning soop - please take care. brewcupcakeflowers

Good luck with the clearing, Callgirl it is wearing but cathartic. We have yet another pile in the car port - probably the third or fourth. It's quite telling that our rubbish is so rubbishy that no one ever steals it. grin

Good luck with your travels corner - you are a really good friend.flowers

Enjoy your fishing gd, The weather here is fine, I hope it is with you.

Enjoy your days everyone and please try not to be too busy as I find it difficult to keep up.grin

annsixty Wed 15-Mar-17 08:42:53

I have just read about your accident soop you must feel pretty sore today. The last fall I had made me very tearful as I realised just how old and vulnerable I was. Please get well soon.
corner as kitty said you really are a very good friend going beyond what must of us would do. Your friend is very lucky to have you.

Swanny Wed 15-Mar-17 13:34:28

They say things come in 3's so with MacS, Bracken and now yourself soop being injured you should all be safe for a wee while grin. Hope you are not too sore today and are enjoying grannyq's lentil soup. Get well soon. Gentle (((hugs)))

soop Wed 15-Mar-17 14:18:07

Good afternoon dear Kitchener Granspals...thank you for many good wishes. Leg looks hard and swollen but is far less sore than it was yesterday evening. I'm not to remove the dressing. Practice nurse will inspect damage next week. After the numerous falls that I've had to date, I am both surprised and thankful that the hip replacements have held fast. Having one leg shorter than the other, together with a lateral curvature of the spine, all adds to my instability. I cannot use the elbow crutch in the garden. Anyways, MacSporran has spoken. I'm to listen to reason. End of! hmm

Charleyg You have the patience of a saint. I can't wait to celebrate the closure of your buggeration of a saga. Remain strong. flowers

We'll have no power between 9:am and 4:pm tomorrow. I shall therefore catch up with you lot later in the afternoon.

I almost forgot to mention that Bracken stopped by for a little light supper last night. I attempted to take a photo of her tail. It was too dark outside and the light went off as she moved away. No further sign of the young tabby cat.

thatbags Wed 15-Mar-17 14:28:32

Oh, soop! Oh, soop!!!!! xx

soop Wed 15-Mar-17 15:13:34

bags! Me old pal...a flapjack would cheer me no end. wink

soop Wed 15-Mar-17 15:15:48

A big, soppy group (((hug))) would also delight me. grin

thatbags Wed 15-Mar-17 15:17:47

Sending a tinful forthwith, soop-dee-doop. ?????

Retrolady Wed 15-Mar-17 15:51:11

Isabella, yes, that's the question I've been asking myself over and over again. I just don't know is the answer. I still don't think the sirens were on, or I would have noticed, I'm sure. The lights ... I just don't know and that's what I'm going to have to say, if asked. My radio wasn't on; I wasn't distracted and I did notice and think about the car in front, so I have no answers. I shall certainly (and have been since) checking my mirrors probably more often than is really necessary in future. That's why I'm not going to make a fuss - I do feel in my gut that, even if the ambulance was being driving slightly carelessly, then I damn well should have seen it and I didn't. I accept that completely. Lesson well and truly learnt.

Retrolady Wed 15-Mar-17 16:00:15

Oh soop! That's awful. Hope you're ok (ish at least) today. Take care and let MacSporran look after you. xx

soop Wed 15-Mar-17 18:12:24

Bless you lot for your many kindnesses.

I shortened a pair of tracksuit pants for MacS...it seems I got the measurement ever so slightly wrong! He says that I may share the accompanying image. Also, I can tell you of an embarrassing moment he had in the village shop as he queued to pay his bill...he felt something "lumpy" in his crotch. It, whatever it was, was moving slowly down the inside of his jeans. He shook his leg, as you do, and out fell his finger bandage. It had come off his finger as he was dressing. He thinks that no-one noticed. wink

Sorry that I shall be missing until after the powers has been restored late tomorrow afternoon.

Take good care of yourselves. smile moon

soop Wed 15-Mar-17 18:13:45

I should have stuck to gardening!

soop Wed 15-Mar-17 18:14:42

PS MacS has a good sense of humour. grin

Wobblybits Wed 15-Mar-17 18:26:16

PANIC !!!!!! Hospital phoned today, my op has been moved forward to THIS SATURDAY !!!!!

MawBroon Wed 15-Mar-17 18:34:03

Wobblybits that is SO much better than having it postponed!
Best of luck!
