Wobbly at least they haven't given you much chance to think about it. We will all be thinking about you, and I am sure it will go like a dream.

I am not long back from my first fishing trip of the year. Nice small fishery, very pretty; but the wind was a mare and naturally all the fish were on the side that the wind was blowing onto which made casting very difficult. I had one good rainbow trout, fifteen inches long, which gave me a run for my money. I released it safely back into the water. It was lovely, later in the evening, to sit there with the sun dipping, the water flattening out to a glassy calm, just watching the fish rising but I was too tired to fish by then anyway. I must really be getting old to admit to that!

soop, I turn my back for a minute and there you go, having another tumble. I'm glad you're in less pain today. Now the next bit is for MacSporran's eyes ? only, so everyone else look away please. When I was out one day, just like MacS, I too felt something slowly moving down my jogging bottoms. I shook my leg and out fell a pair of knickers ??!! They must have got caught up in the washing machine and as I don't iron my joggers I didn't realise they were there. I scooped them up quickly and stuffed them in my pocket. I don't think anyone noticed

Now soop I go away from the kitchen and to do baking and visit friends and do one handed pruning and I come back to find you are practicing arabesques in the garden. SHin skin (for want of a better description) is notoriously difficult to heal, so please look after that leg. Did they put steristrips on for you? These accidents happen so easily and so quickly I know. AT least I now have no pot on and am more or less ok apart from my grip.

So there is cake ( lemon drizzle plus plain scones. No fruit tea loaf as ran out of dried fruit.) for those who require it and a glass of superior malt for * Soop*.

It will have been noted I think that I am not in the kitchen much when fine outside.

If you have never has a pair of silk cami knickers with a button side fastener lose the button on the way downstairs on a double deck bus late at night you have no idea what embarrassment means.!!! I can say no more.

We used to have a very prim and proper Maths teacher (brilliant but terrifying) she was known by us pupils as Sood". Anyway she always wore mid calf length tweed skirts, a blouse with a cameo brooch at the neck and a fine wool cardi, and brown lace up brogue heels.
One day we watched in fascination as one stocking slithered silently down to her ankle. She looked down without a glimmer of expression, said calmly "Carry on with your work" and walked still calmly out of the room. We could hear her heels clip clopping all the way down the corridor to the Ladies' staffroom where she no doubt attended to her suspender in decent privacy.
We didn't DARE giggle or even smirk when she came back!

Soop I hope you heal soon. I can see from what you wrote about your hips etc you are probably not helping your balance and you a are tripping so much.
I have been very lucky in my garden as i am not a tidy person and I have got away with a lot of potentially damaging trips and not hit the deck. I am going to try to be a little more careful​ in future. Take care!

ann and mawb you both raised a smile. The closest I have come is some very loose trousers, the less said about that incident the better.

Really good news for our friend yesterday, the neck brace she has had to wear for 6 months can come off. Recovery still ahead as she has very weak muscles but so much easier to move around, soon be back in her car so independent again. The not so good news was severe osteoporosis has been confirmed, little bones have broken in her lower back in the last month, so onward referral for that and a revised treatment plan. Overall though much progress and much less need for us to visit so often. She hasn't complained once about the major discomfort and difficulty of day to day life. Not so sure I would have been so patient .

Thinking about kitty and her family today. Hope things go as well as they can.

Just popping in to wish the poorly people well and to say I will be thinking of you kittyl today. As Rinouchka said on the Good Morning thread, it is a sort of rite of passage day so I hope the support of your DH and family help you to get through whatever maelstrom of emotions surround you.

I am once again wavering in my resolve to go away on Sunday even though I now have the non returnable rail tickets. H is being so difficult and ignoring anything I say.
The cleaners are here and he is almost following them around.
My triends assure me they are fully prepared for him but will I come home frustrated and tired out or will company for two days be a positive thing?

You will never know if you don't give it a go annsixty. I can sympathise when sometimes things just seem too much effort but you would regret it and it should be worth it as it will I hope give you a break.
I assume you have a (foolproof) plan of action to get him out?
I often find that my day starts several hours before DH's as I "smooth the way" to make sure we get out on time.

Ann company for two days will definitely be a most positive thing, and for once you will hopefully not be on your own dealing with DH's difficulties. I do feel for you both. Please go, and enjoy what you can. If I were still in the Army, I'd make it an order! ?

kitty I hope today goes as well as possible, and gives you some closure. There will be a strange gap in your life now and I hope that your relationship with your brothers continues well.

Just a PS and I apologise if I am teaching you to suck eggs. My friend whose DH has Alzheimer's finds it is counterproductive to tell him too much in advance as he frets and of course forgets what she has told him, but the anxiety does not go.

Please give it a try ann. Things are rarely as bad as we fear they will be. The company will be so positive for you.

Just got back from a smashing meet up at Bluewater with 7 other Gnetters. They were lovely although it was a large group for a first chat , but it seems like we might do it again , which will be fun .

I love the slipping underwear stories. I was once on a train pulling into Fenchurch St. It was when the train still had proper doors. I was dressed in a long white silk pleated skirt with a fatal elasticated waist, a navy blazer and blue and white blouse . As we pulled in , I stood up and my skirt- shut in the door- slid right down, puddling round my ankles.

I immediately sat back down, because you cant open the door till the train comes to a full stop. All the commuters got off whilst I sat there in my knickers until I could open the door , pull my skirt back up and disembark !! Oh thank god I had clean underwear on - thanks Mum !!

ann I'm still chuckling !! Do go on your trip it might not be half as bad as you think and there will be 3 adults to help your DH so at best you wont have the full weight of his care on you. Try it- the worst that can happen is you don't enjoy it and don't do it again.

N&G,your slipping skirt story brought back an embarrassing memory. 10 years ago, we were on holiday on the Isle of Anglesey. We went out one night for a meal in a pub we`d passed several times and thought looked rather nice. It was very nice, as was the food, but the seating was a bench that I had to slide into as I was the one on the inside. As we were leaving, I had to slide out, I was wearing a rather lovely black velvet skirt with an elasticated waist. As I slid OUT, my skirt slid DOWN, exposing all my rather ample proportions! A group of youngsters at the next table had a good giggle, but I couldn`t wait to get out of there, we never went back!
