Soop, is there a florist in Campbeltown? We need to buy a few flowers when we get up there, I don`t think they`d travel well all the way from here.
CharleyG, glad to hear that things are now on the up. We need pics when you gets your breath back!
I really hope that Bracken heals quite soon, bless her.
After paying for the kitchen last night, my bank account looks rather depleted today, boo hoo!

Greyduster Fri 07-Apr-17 17:49:38

Good afternoon, kitcheners. Well the sun came out for us after all, but our planned afternoon at the garden centre had to go on hold because on a routine clean of our bedroom I discovered a carpet beetle. Just the one (Mrs Webley) but it led to us stripping everything out of the room and going more than usually bonkers with the hoover. Then we went bonkers with the hoover in the other rooms too, so that was most of the afternoon gone and we were exhausted from shifting furniture. I don't know where the little blighter came from. AND I never got my scones made either. I did manage an hour in the garden repotting some herbs.
soop seeing the photograph of Bracken in her chalet reminded me of a cat my best friend inherited from one of her neighbour's. The cat wasn't feral but had never lived in the house and couldn't be persuaded to, so BF's hubby made him a kennel on the back doorstep, insulated and raised off the ground. He lived there quite happily and took his meals outside too. Is Bracken bearing any weight on either of her legs when she is not attempting to climb? I think jollyg might have an idea there; anything is worth a try. My heart goes out to you being unable to help her. I'm very glad to hear your leg is feeling better.

Phew, I'm exhausted. Not been able to get near the kitchen for days, finally get some time to sit with a cup of coffee and read through what I've missed. What a lot has been going on. I started off being very concerned for poor Bracken but cheered up when the news became more positive, then very happy to see the lovely photos. What a lucky cat she is to be so well looked after.

Have some macaroons to share if any one would like one. Hope all the poorly OH are doing ok and all the pampered pets. Can we all move in with you soop? I wouldn't mind a cosy bed for the night, and some salmon. I could sit on the sofa and chat to MacSporran too. Galen could come and show us her pearls and we could all have a wee dram grin

Good Morning all !!

Such good news about Bracken soop. Hardy old things these semi feral cats ! I bet you are both relieved .

Sorry to hear about Sophie wot , our beloved pets are a worry eh? If you don't want to try a cone of shame wot for Sophie we have used a child's old t shirt or even sweater , cut off the arms leaving arm holes... works a treat,

Sorry to hear you've been a bit under the weather retro hopefully as the nicer weather arrives it will help pick you up. Glue ear sounds like fun (NOT) !! BUT on the plus side , children's wards are sooo much nicer than adult ones smile

Good news Ann I'd just take that hour sat in a posh coffee shop with a book or something. Anything where you can be peaceful with just your own thoughts ( and a nice slice of cake never goes amiss !!)

The cakes look right up my street ( if not my diabetic bodies) Grey.

Charley at last the end is in sight. You must be so pleased. I'm looking forward to hearing that its all done and you can sit and enjoy all your efforts.

All of you who volunteer or care have a heartfelt salute from me. We don't know anyone , apart from some old soldiers who we include on high days and holidays with our raucous bunch. They cope remarkably well and the small boys are always fascinated by tales of daring do !

ah oldgoat we feel for Oscar, Sam managed to do exactly the same at breakfast time yesterday but we weren't so quick off the mark and with remarkable accuracy Sam managed to land quite a lot on my foot!! You can tell we have grandsons because the next thing I know Jackson is on his knees declaring' Wow I can see his biscuits !!'!!! Needless to say I didn't have a look as closely .

LOVE the drawing Maw made me laugh out loud. Jackson and Cooper refer to those parts as their skittles !!

Had a lovely sleepover with Jackson, We exhausted him so he actually asked to go to bed at 7pm by which time we were on our knees. But what fun we had. He has graduated to proper Lego from Duplo and he built me some wondrous things. When I asked where he got the idea he said he used his imagination but not to worry there was lots more left.

But my favourite thing was this little conversation.

Jackson : pointing to an ornament - how long have you had that robin Nana?
Me: a long time, before you were born, before Mummy and Daddy got married - a long time.
Jackson: ...so...... when you were 32 and Grampy had hair?

Made me chuckle.

I'm off to a day of laziness and crafting

Sunny days one and all !!

Charleygirl Sat 08-Apr-17 13:29:20

N&G I honestly thought that it would be all over today but the builder doing the snagging did not turn up but the plumber did, took one look at the botcher's work and said he was leaving. Luckily he did not but he had to start again from scratch so I am paying twice. He is returning next Saturday to finish the job. What he thought he had to do and what needed to be done were very different and he was here for 3 hours. He could have returned Wednesday evening but I am going out for a meal and having been in this state for more than two weeks what is another week?

The weather is gorgeous here but I have so much to do indoors.

soop Sat 08-Apr-17 13:48:31

A sunny Saturday greeting to all our Granspals.

Callgirl1 I've pm'd you with two Campbeltown florist details.

Crafting Tyke! wink Macaroons are utterly delicious. I would enjoy a couple one right now.

MawB and Swanny N&G Priceless! Made me and MacSporran hoot with laughter.

Greyduster I shall need to Google carpet beetle. Do they do mischief? We've just one room carpeted...the rest is wood flooring.

The plot thickens...we've been thinking that Bracken has been visiting the chalet during the night as we've been removing a licked-clean bowl in the morning. No sign of Bracken since Thursday evening. At about 2:am the outside light was triggered. I rushed to the window. It wasn't B but a smaller, nervous tabby cat. Long ago, when Rory's wifelet and two young daughters were spayed, one was a tabby. After several months, both mother cat and tabby moved away. Is the newcomer the sister of Bracken? We've one close neighbour who hasn't a cat. I really am hoping that Bracken will put in an appearance over the next couple of days. She is most definitely unable to hunt or catch food for herself. Fingers crossed.

MawBroon Sat 08-Apr-17 13:52:21

How do you keep sane Charleygirl?? You must be fit to be tied. ???on your behalf.

callgirl1 Sat 08-Apr-17 16:31:11

Received your pm Soop, thank you so much xx

soop Sat 08-Apr-17 16:40:24

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MacSporran casually informed me that Bracken was enjoying a meal in the kitchen together with Rory. I whooped with delight. Grabbed the camera and took two photos. Rory went to loll on the bench outside. Bracken wobbled (alarmingly) along the back path. I found her sitting the other side of the wire fence. I had a conversation with her and walked back into the house. I saw her struggle through the gap in the fence, and with a great deal of effort, she finally made it back to the mat in the utility room. Cannot begin to tell you how good it feels to know that she is making a massive effort to stay alive.

soop Sat 08-Apr-17 16:51:34

I need to calm down. Logging off until tomorrow. Wishing you all a pleasant and peaceful evening. smile moon

kittylester Sat 08-Apr-17 17:49:06

Bellanonna Sat 08-Apr-17 18:10:41

Awww. Lovey pics especially the second one

NanaandGrampy Sat 08-Apr-17 18:13:17

What a lovely picture soop !! There's life in the old girl yet ( Bracken not you ;-) ) .

Just popped in to share a picture of Jackson.

His mum and dad have decided to landscape their very sloping garden and their neighbour is doing the same so they are sharing the work on the two plots.

Yesterday a mini excavator arrived and today ( look away elf and safety people ) Jackson under the supervision of the neighbour who uses it for his work , had a go !!

Everyone survived !!
