Here we are again...
Happy as can be
All good pals and jolly good company.

Make yourselves comfortable. I shall pop in later with a few treats.

soop Wed 26-Apr-17 15:17:52

Charleyg Apologies. I meant to place the message to you ahead of my sore mouth.

Bellanonna Wed 26-Apr-17 15:41:17

soop I haven't had it, but it sounds like it. You should get medical advice. Is there a pharmacy in the village? I think antifungal meds are prescribed but definitely wouldn't leave it. Poor you, must be nasty lasting so long. I'm in week four of chest infection and have just been prescribed anti bs without even asking. But I know coughs go on and on. I can still eat. Throats on the other hand are sheer misery. Please see someone !!

Elegran Wed 26-Apr-17 15:56:26

Weren't you getting antibiotics for your leg? That seems to encourage thrush. Cure one thing and get another!

Charleygirl Wed 26-Apr-17 16:00:06

soop thankfully I do not like champagne but last night as I knew that there were no builders coming today I had a glass or three of dry white wine and no doubt will finish off the bottle this evening- I could not possibly waste it, could I and it does go off quickly.

I agree with Bellanonna you must get treatment for that throat. Has Rory recovered from the very recent recent trauma? Like Tara he needs to rest his eyes frequently.

I did not realise that we would be on the move so soon, I thought that it would be the weekend. We must make sure that all waifs and strays know where we are going.

callgirl1 Wed 26-Apr-17 16:20:19

I don`t like to brag, but..........I`ve won the holiday to Cornwall competition! Can`t believe it, things like that just don`t happen to me! Now I have to decide who I can invite out of all my tribe without upsetting the rest.
CharleyG, nice to see you back, despite all your buggerations.
Lovely photos Morethan.

callgirl after the year that you have recently had I think that is a fabulous gift for you. I agree, who to choose may well be a major problem. No doubt you will tell us when you are going nearer the time. I am so pleased for you.

annsixty Wed 26-Apr-17 16:45:35

I am so pleased that someone we know and know deserves it has won the competition for the holiday. Well done callgirl. I get so fed up with the folk who only come out of the woodwork to enter competitions winning.

callgirl1 Wed 26-Apr-17 16:47:30

Thank you everyone. As to when I`ll be going, I have to wait for the holiday people to get in touch, it`s a winter holiday, so not yet anyway.

kittylester Wed 26-Apr-17 16:59:52

Winter's holiday Callgirl - doesn't this week count then grin I am so thrilled for you and echo what Ann said about being pleased that it's one of 'us' and not a chancer opportunist non member!

cornergran Wed 26-Apr-17 17:04:05

Quick visit, stuff still happening, I'm preoccupied and ratty in equal measure but like all things it will pass and its good to be in the kitchen for a while, but so much to catch up with.

Well done callgirl, maybe a draw to decide who will go with you, wonderful news.

soop the doctor needs consulting asap, you certainly don't want to keep that throat, sounds horrid.

charley please take care of your hands, you may need them to place around someone's neck, gently of course. grin

It must seem very stressful, wot but as others have said the future will be so much better. A day at a time will do it, wishing you and Sophie well.

love the photos morethan, you will find the kitchen is a good place to be and you are very welcome. Cake or no cake. smile

Lovely photos kitty, made me smile, too.

Right, that's me for today, will lurk a bit later I expect. Once again wishing you all many ladders and no snakes.

soop Wed 26-Apr-17 17:30:16

callg Wow! Woopee! Chuffed to bits for you. You richly deserve the prize. flowers

Elegran Antibio's for UTI's too. Seeing GP tomorrow about lack of response from you know who. I shall ask him to look at the mouth. Not a pretty sight!

Bellanonna Our nearest pharmacy is a long drive away.

cornerg Here's hoping the ratty mood will evaporate into the ether. Think Zen. sunshine

I'm logging off until tomorrow morning. We shall need a new kitchen before too long. I shall make sure that you lovely lot know where to find the door key.

Rory still misses Bracken. At the same times each day he visits her chalet. He then sits beside the fence and looks off into the forest. She has left a space in our lives. smile moon

MawBroon Wed 26-Apr-17 18:02:34

Brilliant news *callgirl, it couldn't have happened to a nicer person!
TBH when I look at some of these "competitions"'they seem to attract names we have never seen before (or are likely to see again) so it is especially nice for one of "our own" to be a winner!!

Just got back from "The Viceroy's House" at the Errol Flynn Filmhouse, a small cinema at the theatre in Northampton . I took a couple of friends and the husband of one who has Alzheimer's. Driving through Olney, where they both lived as children and into Northampton brought back many happy memories of his first job there. He enjoyed the film too, so it was a win-win all round as my friend, (his wife) also got an afternoon out.

Charleygirl Wed 26-Apr-17 18:07:41

He will be able to smell Bracken when he sniffs around the chalet and the poor soul thinks she has deserted him. It is so difficult for him when he does not understand what happened.

You must get better soop- it has been one buggeration after another. I do not know what to suggest re the hospital files- I think that the hospital is looking after numero uno. I know that you will not give up- put it all in writing- telephone calls can e denied or forgotten but a bit of paper is different.

wot Wed 26-Apr-17 18:45:36

Soop, please give Rory a kiss from me. I have been too wrapped up in my own buggerations but I am .lucky really. I do hope you get well soon.

Izabella Wed 26-Apr-17 19:15:09

wot YOU ARE NEVER TOO OLD! Period. I was in the Scilly Isles a few years ago and met a lady who did her first wing walk aged 88. A total inspiration. I was cycling around at the time and she told me in all seriousness that she no longer cycled much, but did use the bikes in the gym.

I know so many women, myself included, who have extricated themselves from all sorts of situations and started again. Reach out and grasp what life has to offer. Make sure your last breath contains no regrets!!

Greyduster Wed 26-Apr-17 19:15:31

soop I'm sorry to hear about your throat. There's nothing worse. We are ganging up on you to seek treatment soonest. ??

callgirl very well done - something good to look forward to. I like Cornwall at any time of the year!

Well, it doesn't take a lot at the moment for something to slide me into the Slough of Despond, and sure enough, this afternoon: my calf strain, which I thought was getting better, hit me like a brick again and I can hardly walk. At least I know now it can't be the shoes as I haven't worn them since Sunday. To add insult to injury I got a letter from the dental hospital postponing a follow up appointment for my biopsy results for yet a further week, so I got on the phone to let them know that I wasn't a happy bunny. An appointment that should have been scheduled for three weeks was already taking six without them bunging another week on the top. The girl I talked to treated me as if I was a five year old and kept asking me if I understood her!! I'm ashamed to say that I was rather rude to her. She then gave me a telephone number for the consultant's secretary which turned out to be a discontinued answerphone. I rang up again later in the afternoon and spoke to someone sensible who could not have been more helpful and managed to get me an appointment next week. The fact that it is the day before I have to go for an appointment in a different part of the hospital is a bit of a bugger, but in for a penny, in for a pound. Let's get them out of the way before they pile on any more! It's my son's 50th birthday tommorrow! How the hell did that happen without me noticing?? ??

Charleygirl Wed 26-Apr-17 20:47:10

Greyduster I am sure that you have mistaken your son's age- surely it is 40, if that?

Unbelievable that your appointment was postponed and this is to get biopsy results but to the first idiot on the phone, you were just another irritation in her working day.

soop Tara hates kisses but loves stroking and cuddles so please give Rory a kiss from me.

annsixty Wed 26-Apr-17 21:01:50

Greyduster I hope you soon get a resolution to your leg problem, not knowing is a b***er and harder to deal with, however my D is rapidly heading to 52. just 2 days before I am 80 so you have no worries at all.
Kindest wishes to all with physical and emotional problems to deal with, I hope they are resolved.

callgirl1 Wed 26-Apr-17 21:40:29

Dear Soop, please take care of yourself, and get that throat seen to, lots of people depend on you being around. Please give Rory a big hug from me, and all my tribe.
Greyduster, I hope your leg is better very soon, you`ve enough on your plate already, without more buggerations.
Wot, chin up! How is Sophie?
Where is Jud lately? We need news of Georgie.

NanaandGrampy Thu 27-Apr-17 08:18:46

Morning all !!

I hurt this morning ! Nothing major , just hours of sitting in the car I think. Luckily today we are at home to recover because tomorrow we have the 2 bigger boys for a sleepover.

Small Nana boast now : Stevie ( who is 7) was booked to come for a sleepover. He really likes to come on his own and it be all about him. But Jackson , who loves Stevie desperately wanted to come to but it's not his turn. So I asked Stevie's Mummy to ask him what he thought but said no one will be offended if he says no. Even Jackson knew the chances were slim.

Good old Stevie came up trumps and said he's love to and furthermore he would bring his Lego people so he and Jackson could position them on the hot wheels track and run them over ( high praise indeed) confused

I'm very proud of his kindness even though I KNOW he would like to be on a solo sleepover.

soop sending you and Rory a hug - you know how loved Bracken was for her to have left such a hole in your lives- all the best things do flowers

That's a lot of buggerations Grey hope the hospital visits go well. And I so know what you mean about how did the years fly past !!

Ann what do you plan to treat yourself with for your birthday ? You can never have too many handbags smile

annsixty Thu 27-Apr-17 08:55:30

I still have the one I bought myself for C........s ( a bright red Radley) in the bag, never seen the light of day!!
I am the usual "lady who has everything she needs" but it is a milestone, the last probably , so I will have to think hard.
Actually ,another one next year, if we make it, our 60th wedding anniversary.
