Sorry to hear about all the poorly dogs. Oscar normally has dry dog pellets which look really boring so , for a treat, OH bought him some sachets of wet dog food which he wolfed down. Unfortunately, a short time later, he brought the lot back (twice). Luckily both times he's done it in the garden. He loves rice and sardines, which DD gives her dog when it is out-of-sorts.

soop i gave a deadline of last Sunday- that went down well. There is a transport problem but I hope that will be fixed by Tuesday. I am being a bit naughty and getting other work carried out for a lot cheaper than would normally happen- eg my bifold glass wardrobe doors are to be changed and hopefully I will have laminate sliding doors and so it goes on.

I am having to be flexible time wise because it would cost be a fortune to say goodbye to this lot and start again. The next time I move will be in a box!

Baggs I do hope that you are okay- very difficult when you do not live that close to civilisation.

Thank you for the thoughts, peeps. Had to find out which hospital I could go to! The nearest one had its A & E closed a few years ago but fortunately it still has a Minor Injuries Unit which sufficed. Adrenalin effect has worn off now but MrB has supplied me with a G&T. Sorry to still be hearing about all the poorly dogs, could it be something to do with the very warm weather? Mia tends to hardly eat anything when it`s very hot, which then tends to make me worry about her.
Oldgoat, when you went across to Gigha, did you pop into Big Jessie`s at the ferry terminal? Nothing fancy on offer there, but it`s all fresh and tasty.
I woke up at 6am today, with the thought that I didn`t remember putting a joint in the freezer after Tesco delivered on Wednesday, so came downstairs to check the freezer. Sure enough, no joint in there, so, fearing for Sunday`s dinner, I trotted, well, staggered, along to the Co-op just down the road, and came back with the only thing they had, a chicken, so it`s chicken for the 2nd Sunday in a row, but at least we`ll have a roast.

Hello callgirl No, we didn’t get chance to visit Big Jessie's but we heard that his bacon sandwiches were the best in Kintyre. (Must just pop down and thaw out some bacon for breakfast.)
We loved Gigha. The weather was hot and sunny and Achamore Gardens were full of beautiful flowers. I think we were lucky with the weather in May. It looks as though poor soop is not enjoying the searing heat we have in Yorkshire today. The Muasdale campsite was the nicest we've ever used. Pity it's such a long way from home. Coming home from Oban we travelled through some stunning countryside so maybe next year we'll head up that way again - and we have a coffee date planned with soop at Crinan, too.

Think The George at Inveraray will be on our itinerary, too. I want one of those cakes that baggs was tucking into!

It was a hot and sticky night here . I'm really lucky , I have an air-conditioning unit but when its switched on its like sleeping next to a 747 taking off !! Its going to reach about 28 here today so impromptu BBQ all round I think.

I like the sound of the cartoon soop !Grampy is banned from using the hedge trimmer on our beech hedge after his massive fall the year before last. Luckily those things do have a cut off so if you let go of the button they switch off but I still think your suggest of a strapping young lad would be far less dangerous . The Gunera looks positively prehistoric !!

My laptop is working ok Nellie but I think lots of others are experiencing the same issues as you.

I agree with Charley Galen Ocado are the ones least likely to let me down. Must have been some glitch...I hope they will compensate you properly !!

Sam slept well and no unwelcome gifts in the kitchen. He's a bit 'washed out' if you can say that about a dog, but it is hot already here.

Sam sounds better, n&g, hopefully on the mend. Your post reminded me that Mr C's steak was still in the freezer callgirl, still, the de-frost process won't take long. . I can't bear the wretched stuff, but as it's Fathers Day he got to choose what he eats for supper, its fish for me. Don't expect to see either son, they are both quietly sinking under life's pressures and must be elsewhere. We understand and have what should be a good day planned. It's what I would call pleasantly warm here, we aren't baking as many of you are, plenty of sea breezes to keep us cool. Right, scrambled eggs and bacon to produce so - onwards. Total understanding Baggs I did the same 4 weeks after my op for BC. I fell in the street and put both arms up to my chest instinctively,so fell heavily on my wrists. One broken, one a chipped bone. The pain was dreadful due to soft tissue damage so I know how it feels. Hope it soon improves.

I feel sorry for all our furry friends in this heat. I bet they wish they had a zip fastener down their backs so they could take off their coats and sit in their bones for a bit. I read somwhere that they sweat through the pads on their feet. Can that be right?

Just wanted to sorry to hear about your broken wrist but if my perception of your character is remotely correct you will see it as a 'damned nuisance you could do without' and try to get on with things as best as.

Tara allowed me a lie in today until 9.45am. I must have needed it- that is my excuse anyway.

I normally suffer from hypothermia when I go to bed at night, I am still using a 15 tog duvet but even I threw it off it has been so warm. Tara decided to snuggle up against me at some ungodly hour but did not stay long.

It is roasting here- I have to make the effort as I am meeting a friend for lunch. She had to have her dog put to sleep 2 weeks ago and is feeling miserable so I thought that a meet up would help.I loved the dog to bits.

I doubt if I will see Tara until around 10pm tonight-I thought that it may be cooler indoors but it is up to her.

I suppose that they do not accept the unwashed and undressed at the restaurant so I had better get my skates on.

Gaga , yes they sweat through the pads , the ears for big eared breeds and by panting! I saw an English bulldog at the vets yesterday in a cool jacket . It's like a zip up coat for dogs filled with cooling gel, you activate it with water but it doesn't make the dogs wet .

good for those really short nosed breeds in hot weather. I'll find a picture :-)

N&G I thought for a moment that you had abandoned Sam. Sorry to hear that he is looking and probably feeling a bit wabbit today. A few will understand my old Scottish expression! Many a dog would not appreciate a coat like that even if it was for the animal's own good.

No Charley we love him too much , and he feeling sorry for himself today. Even though not in full coat he is desperately trying to find a cool and shady floor. Grampy will put up the sprinkler when the boys arrive and if he's feeling like it Sam often joins them - maybe that will help .

Oscar is going for a short back and sides today. He has been feeling the heat too and pants a lot, plus he's not been eating much either. Hope it doesn't make the weather change.

Have had a relatively quiet couple of days, completing penultimate week of online course, prepping for leading tomorrow's new library group, trying to follow certain GN "hot potatoes", muttering at Apache Tomcat & doing a bit of RL & virtual gardening & food preparation.

Good morning ! I am recovering from a flying overnight visit from DD1plus DGS2 and DGD (the "mighty girl,2 going on 12)") to wish Paw happy Father's Day. Seeing them has perked him up, but actually it has gone quiet upstairs , I wonder if he has gone back to bed!!
I have been on the go since 6 as you are with tinies but could at least let DD sleep in until after 7, by which time she is usually on her way to work.
What a scorchio!! I am glad I am not toiling up the M1/M6 even with the aircon, but how lovely for all the outdoor Great Get Together activities planned.
Sympathies to fur friends. I heard of "wetcoats" for the first time yesterday, which seem to be what the sound like and good for thin coated dogs, like hounds, who might burn easily.
Please pass on my sympathies to your friend charleygirl, I still mourn Gracie but am also glad that she has been spared this heat which would caused her real suffering.
Now I have just remembered that I bought mini choc ices for the children and we never got round to them.........

Sorry to hear about your fall, Baggs . Apart from the pain it's so annoying to have your activities limited .
Last week I had a run-in with a damaged wheel from our van and ended up with split skin on shin, bruising, blood all over - I've got surface leg veins. Luckily our doctor was available and put a lovely dressing and compression bandage on it.
However careful we are, we still seem to have these accidents.

Well now, I think to myself - I shall see what that lot have been up to. Yeah! Only an entire Saturday afternoon/evening/Sunday so far to catch up with. I'm really complaining because all your messages cheer me. Thank you.

Now I shall go back to wherever it was when I left yesterday. I shall read all your comments as I drink coffee and eat a little (left over) chocolate cake.
