Here we go again...

Jalima1108 Fri 04-Aug-17 19:51:23

Dogs think they are human
Cats know they are gods

I do hope he will be OK, sometimes, although they are extremely clever, they do not realise that a busy road can be dangerous and think that all the traffic should stop for them. sad

Jalima1108 Fri 04-Aug-17 19:52:02

I love cheese scones!

Jalima1108 Fri 04-Aug-17 19:52:25

When I say he I mean Rory

Nelliemoser Fri 04-Aug-17 20:40:30

What the heck have they done to the fonts ? I really hate this. (assuming others can see what I am seeing. )

aggie Fri 04-Aug-17 20:50:34

I usually have to take off specs to read but this font is very clear , but the page looks very bald and simple ( as in daft)

Swanny Fri 04-Aug-17 21:02:37

Fonts? Does GNHQ think we're all squiffy-eyed? Thought I'd hit the magnifier button or something! At least the logo flag has changed from 'Viva la Communista Revolutione!' Might be alright once I get used to it ...

Swanny Fri 04-Aug-17 21:05:11

Rory sweet dreams dearest puss. If you are strong enough to continue we will be delighted - if you feel you are fighting your last battle we understand xx

Crafting Fri 04-Aug-17 22:46:36

Welcome mary yes we love cupcake and wine. I've not got any pets either (except DH ?)
greyduster stop trying to confuse me. I'm looking at a picture of scones trying to see where the ? is. grin. I love cheese scones...and jam and cream ones too.
soop Rory must have been blessed the day you and MacS came into his life. Things could have been so different for him. Good luck with trying to get the pills down. Cheese squares usually worked for my dogs.
Maw good to hear such positive news of paw.
Galen have fun at the birthday party. Hope you get to Gloucester ok.
Hello to everyone else. Hope you have a good weekend.

Marydoll Fri 04-Aug-17 22:53:09

Oh welcome Mary . A namesake!
They are lovely people in the café, not boring at all.

callgirl1 Fri 04-Aug-17 23:17:19

Good to hear better news of Paw, long may it continue.
Hoping to hear that Rory has rallied again.
My son-in-law has been tonight to put the second coat of paint on my kitchen walls, he`s coming to start glossing tomorrow. They are good to me.
Can`t get used to this new font size, keep trying to adjust it!

grannysyb Fri 04-Aug-17 23:58:26

Glad to hear Paw is improving, sad to about Rory, hope he keeps going a little longer. I'm sitting at Gatwick waiting for delayed flight from Pisa. DH went out for a few days to see his DD,Sil and DGDs. We probably won't get home before 1.30. Musnt grumble, lots of you have much worse in the way of problems.

NanaandGrampy Sat 05-Aug-17 08:59:41

Good Morning all !

Isn't this font HUGE????? I'm on the laptop and its blasted enormous, in fact I think I could ditch my specs and still see it !!

Loved the picture of the silage Grey , our little chaps are convinced the unadorned stuff are giant bits of some bizarre breakfast cereal!

Doesn't sound like the best weather for camping kitty hope its better than expected.

Hope the antibiotics etc for Rory help Soop , no cat can be loved more , that's for sure.

Maw Paw sounds like he's making strides ( and Hattie too for that matter) . What good news !!

Welcome maryeliza wine\cake all the same here ! Crisps are also most welcome ! Sam is available on loan should you need a little dog fix. He's is being very well behaved of late so wouldn't be any trouble.

Oldgoat that made me smile - 2 in a bed eh? Times have changed ! The ward where they were had a playroom and lots of arts and crafts and even a play nurse !! They are doing better thank goodness , they seemed to sail through so it was a surprise when they both went down with a bump !

A catch up day for me today but hope you have nicer things planned than that x

annsixty Sat 05-Aug-17 09:56:50

N&G my D was in her 20s when she had her tonsils out and she picked up an infection in the hospital, as did a couple of others on the ward. She was admitted back to the ward for a couple of days until it was under control.
The thing I still remember after all these years is the smell when I walked into her room.
When we took her back , the Dr had been called to A&E and as he walked in he said, you don't need to tell me the problem, I can smell it.

NanaandGrampy Sat 05-Aug-17 12:30:10

That's exactly it Ann !!

But today they are in the pool , in the garden in the sunshine- so its all going well !

Charleygirl Sat 05-Aug-17 12:48:31

Glad to hear that Herbert and Sherbert are recovering from their ordeal- at least they have been together which is good for them if not perhaps their mother but it is all done and dusted, they can only get better and enjoy the rest of the summer.

Normally the sun is shining in London and it was earlier but now it is raining stair rods, my poor washing- it happened so suddenly I could not rescue it.

I hope that Tara has found herself a dry spot to snooze because she is not fond of getting damp never mind wet.

soop Sat 05-Aug-17 13:11:39

First things first. A very warm welcome to maryeliza. You don't need to bring cake but us lot are always glad to taste it on your behalf. You don't need to own a pet because us lot like to share ours with you. You don't need to bring a bottle of superior quality wine 'though it does help to get the party going with a bang. All you need is a kind heart and a quirky sense of humour. You'll be happy with us. We guarantee it. flowers

Charleygirl Sat 05-Aug-17 13:11:40

soop I do hope that Rory is feeling a bit better today and able to have a few bites of food. Have you managed to disguise hid drugs, he is not stupid! Hopefully he has more sunshine to warm his body than there is here.

soop Sat 05-Aug-17 13:29:46

Better news of Paw and Herbert and Sherbert Thank goodness that the worst of their ordeal is almost over.

Hello again to Marydoll and granniesyb. As usual, I'm running late. This lot won't sit still for long enough to allow me to catch breath and catch up.

For all of you concerned about Rory...whatever the pills contain can only be described as miraculous. Yes...he's still walking with difficulty. BUT, his appetite is back to normal and he's taking notice of the important things in life...food, petting and lolling in the sunshine. He appears to be pain free. When I told the vet that he wasn't in pain, the vet said, no way. He cannot tell you how he's feeling but, the chances are he's suffering some discomfort. We pummelled the pills using a pestle and mortar. We crumbled up some steamed salmon and mixed it together with a crumbled "treat-type biscuit" and added a small amount of fresh chicken jelly. He polished off the entire bowlful AND asked for more. Same at breakfast time. Lunch was enjoyed in some style. He licked the plate clean. No need for cheese at this stage. We both feel heaps better because Rory is more responsive.

soop Sat 05-Aug-17 13:36:18

callgirl You do have a kind and caring family. I bet the kitchen is looking sunny and smart. It seems a shame to use it. wink

Swanny Kind words. Thank you. smile

aggie what have you been up to? It seems a long time since you last popped in for a blether. Good to have you back

ann I need to read back a bit to see if you've enjoyed your treat.

MawBroon Sat 05-Aug-17 13:40:01

Sounds delish soop!!
The question of "pain" is relative though, we as humans know different degrees of pain and usually the reasons behind it. An animal as it ages may well continue with a degree of discomfort even an increasing level, but when it becomes acute they will usually go off their food or show other signs of distress. Pain relief like anti inflammatories can be taken long term with few if any side effects. He will stop attempting movements which cause pain and adapt his lifestyle to what he can do in reasonable comfort.
Well done the vet and well done Masterchefs soop and macsporran!!

Charleygirl Sat 05-Aug-17 13:42:16

I am so pleased to hear that the tablets appear to be working and he does appear to have a voracious appetite today because he does not normally have lunch does he?

Rory can rest as much as he wants- all he has to do is to go to his outdoor loo. Everything else is delivered close to his cat cave. I am so pleased that he is enjoying the warm sunshine.

Would he share his steamed salmon with me? I think that he is dining better than I am- mine is spag bol this evening. I am so so pleased for him.

soop Sat 05-Aug-17 13:46:14

Iam64 You are so right. Cats couldn't give a fig no matter how hard you try to please them. However...hmm Rory knows darn well how to please MacSporran. He gets all smoochy with him, not me. MacS got down on his knees last night and pretended to eat alongside Rory. I could hear Rory's purrs. This morning, MacSporran* said, "I remember saying (five years ago) that the cat isn't coming in. When he did, I added, and I'm not going to pay vet's bills, both of which have happened. I do not regret one moment of the time we've shared with him and I'm certainly prepared to continue to pay for whatever Rory needs, for as long as he needs us." Such a good man, MacSporran. wink

soop Sat 05-Aug-17 13:49:04

Maw and Charleyg I think that us lot should have a group hug to celebrate. Come on...(((( hugs galore)))) sunshine

soop Sat 05-Aug-17 13:52:47

Greyduster I can almost smell those delicious looking cheese scones. I would so love one or two with a slice of mature cheddar on the side.

aggie Sat 05-Aug-17 13:55:04

Just had a tour of my new place , it is tiny , but I am not allowed to moan . I have a huge stash of craft stuff ......... nowhere to put it . I might sneak some in to the Kitchen cupboards wink .... who needs more than two cups /plates /dishes ?.My antique furniture is to be left behind , I refuse to get new , so my comfy armchair might make it . Just having a moan , I am sure it will work out , but I get no sympathy at home , maybe some here ?
