Here we go again...

Charleygirl Sat 05-Aug-17 13:58:07

MacSporran was adamant 5 years ago that cat was not entering your house- Rory has taken over long since and is adored by MacSporran as we all well know. A better loved and cared for cat by both of you, you will not find in your neck of the woods- Tara would be jealous.

I only wish that Rory would not give me frights like the last two- it is not good for my heart I am sure.

aggie Sat 05-Aug-17 14:00:03

I have been reading all the posts but only getting round to sending my congratulations to Paw on making a great effort to get well . Soop , you and MsS deserve a medal for your care of that lovely Feline smile I hold my breath for Ann , I hope you had a lovely break and that it is repeated at regular intervals ........... better go ........ just had a phone call to say my puter is sick ....... told a lie and said I didn't have on , phone slammed down !! , not by me !!

aggie Sat 05-Aug-17 14:04:08

About Herbert and Sherbet I had my tonsils out on the kitchen table , It was during the war and Glasgow wasn't a holiday camp , so Mum dug her heels in .....

Charleygirl Sat 05-Aug-17 14:08:22

aggie OMG thank goodness that cannot happen now in this country.

Good that you had your wits about you- like me you are obviously too old to have a clue how a computer works!!! That is what I said to the last joker who rang me.

Galen Sat 05-Aug-17 14:36:53

I do think GNHQ might have warned us about the format change.
I DONT LIKE IT

Stomps off in paddy!

Jalima1108 Sat 05-Aug-17 14:54:36

I think it has been up their collective sleeve for a while Galen - they asked what we thought but it was a fait accompli.

I have decided - I don't like it either.

Jalima1108 Sat 05-Aug-17 14:57:45

oh, where am I? confused

I didn't realise that I had wandered into soop's grin I thought I was somewhere else.
Never mind, I will sink into the sofa and have forty winks.

It's this new layout, it has made me very discombobulated

trisher Sat 05-Aug-17 15:31:01

Don't usually come in here, but had to say Jalima1108 I LOVE that word. So jealous that you got to use it!

Jalima1108 Sat 05-Aug-17 15:32:24

Ooh!! You woke me up trisher
I hope you brought some cupcake with you!!
grin

annsixty Sat 05-Aug-17 15:35:37

I have come on to say I had a lovely time with my GD and came home shattered.
We had a great time together and loved each other's company. We used London buses which was quite an adventure. Our budget hotel was excellent, it was on Kensington High street and was spotlessly clean and very good value.
MPW's was a bit of a con really, it was just in his name and was the London Steak House in Chelsea, the setting and the meal, service etc was splendid, but the voucher was for£75 which was supposedly half price, AND then came the supplements and the extras!!
I paid those myself as the gift to me was so generous and I can tell you I could have fed a small African village for a week. I will just say we had a glass of wine each which was £12 a glass. Then add on extra for fillet steak, extra for water extra for fries, a service charge of £20 and we finished with a cocktail each.
I enjoyed every minute ?.
I can't wait to be 90, now that will be special?
H was fine with our S who is now on meds for his depression
TH. H showed no interest in my trip but that is fine.

trisher Sat 05-Aug-17 15:38:43

You got to use discombobulated that's quite enough for one day envy
Oh well OK but eat it slowly it's got to last cupcake

Greyduster Sat 05-Aug-17 16:18:49

Ouch, Ann! That's London for you, but I am so glad you had a good time and I hope you get to do another outing with your GD; she sounds wonderful! I hope your S responds well to his medication. It is making a difference to mine, though he does have dips every now and again in spite of the meds. When he came down last weekend he was very impressed with my heat resistant oven gloves, so I bought him a pair. You would think I had given him the Crown Jewels.
soop a sigh of relief here for Rory's renewed appetite and responsiveness. Long may it continue.
aggie I hope you find room in your new place for at least some of your craft stuff. We need these diversions.
I had an unaccustomed afternoon to myself today, so I decided to get my paints out. I spent two hours bent over a very small watercolour which is absolutely rubbish (destined for the bin). I haven't done any for so long I think I have lost my touch, or I need to work bigger, or go back to basics. I think I feel a cup of tea and a biscuit coming on......

callgirl1 Sat 05-Aug-17 16:50:11

First of all, Soop, may I say I`m thrilled to doll rags to read about Rory`s improvement, long may it continue, because we all know just how much that gorgeous feline means to you and MacSporran. All my love and best wishes to you all!
Aggie, I`ve been looking at the paintings on your profile. Where is that bridge? I ask, because it looks remarkably like the Bridge over the Atlantic on the Isle of Seil in Scotland, could it be?
Soop, you`re dead right, it does seem a shame to use my lovely new kitchen for "kitcheny" things, but I do an awful lot of wiping and polishing over things, much more than I used to, wonder how long it will last, lol?!
How is Paw today?

soop Sat 05-Aug-17 17:03:49

aggie I know that the majority of folk prefer large homes. I'm not one of them. I really do like cosy spaces. Once I realised that I didn't need so much stuff I felt liberated. When we moved into our wee hoos, we gave most of our crockery and useless bits and bobs away. You are right. There is no need for clutter. I do, however, sympathise with your lack of craft stuff space. What should have been our second bedroom, is home to the computer/printer/piano/filing cabinets and my easel/paints/brushes/a small round dining table and two chairs and last, but not least, an exercise bike. A wee bit cramped but hey ho...we can't have everything we want.

soop Sat 05-Aug-17 17:27:42

aggie Sick putters must be cluttering the planet. We get at least three calls daily to inform us that ours is in need of urgent attention.
Did you really have your tonsils removed on the kitchen table? shock I went all faint when I read that.

Galen Haste ye back. Us lot like it when you share your merry banter with us. wink

Jalima dear, sit down and I shall peel you a grape or two. Anyways, where did you think you were? grin

trisher "that word" is one of my favourites. I had to ask our grandson what it meant. He said, 'confused and out of kilter'. Good enough for me.

ann That's exactly what I'd hoped to hear. Your granddaughter did you proud. You ENJOYED yourselves. Good!!!! I must say that when a glass of wine costs £12 you tend to sip it... Never mind the cost, it was a treat and you deserve many more in the future.
I shall be 76 on Tuesday. We'll be having lunch with a couple of pals in a delightful, very well run small restaurant that is part of a lovely garden centre. We went there with Mr and Mrs Oldgoat.

Greyduster Never think that a creation of yours amounts to rubbish. That's reserved for me and my creative attempts with animal portraiture. For every success I dispose of five or six worked-to death rejects.

callgirl We picked up a gent who was thumbing a lift yesterday. As we motored by Muasdale camp site (fully booked) we both said...mornin' David. The passenger looked a little perplexed. Or, better still, discombobulated. There, I said it!

soop Sat 05-Aug-17 17:32:31

Rory has made his way into the kitchen. He is far from fully mobile. He does seem brighter in spirit. Well, I think so. I'm off to grind his pills and make his afternoon tea as tempting as possible. I've just heard MacSporran say...gooooooooood boy. Have you had a lovely afternoon? grin

soop Sat 05-Aug-17 17:33:52

Until tomorrow...thank you for your company and making me smile a lot. smile moon

Galen Sat 05-Aug-17 17:37:29

After next week the work calms down a little and I'll try to catch up.
Not long now and downsised and I will be meandering around the Mediterranean and Adriatic.
Soon have to think about which pearls to take this trip. Also mustn't forget the diamond necklace I've treated myself to. It's tennis style and I'm now wondering about the matching bracelet. Think that might be a bit OTT though.

cornergran Sat 05-Aug-17 17:40:53

Whatever Rory's miracle tablets are, please can I have some? Wonderful he is responding, soop, he sounds more than comfortable at the moment.

We moved from a big space to a small one. I was interested to discover how much 'stuff' just wasn't important. There is room for what matters and we've made it ours. I did find space for craft things but rarely touch them, they may be in their way to a new home, haven't decided quite yet. I guess the adjustment took its time but I'm comfortable with our home.

Sounds a wonderful London trip, ann, there's a supposedly MPW restaurant near here, it also seems vastly overpriced and yes, so many extras. Still, overall you had a good time and that's all that matters.

I'm with you galen, I don't like it either, but then I don't like most change, takes me ages to adapt. A creature of habit, that's me

Take care all.

oldgoat Sat 05-Aug-17 18:57:15

Good to hear that Rory has perked up a bit soop . It's all that TLC he's receiving from you both.
OH and I were out walking yesterday and passed three smartly-dressed women hikers. I said to OH "Gosh, those women look posh. One of them is even wearing her pearls!"
We went to the village show near the campsite today. They had a dog show and Oscar and I won the competion for the dog who looks most like his owner. I hope they were referring to his curly hair, not the beard!

Charleygirl Sat 05-Aug-17 19:02:14

Oscar is looking so handsome- congratulations to you both. It is definitely the hair, the other is not noticeable!

Swanny Sat 05-Aug-17 19:12:47

ann I'm so happy to hear you had a good time with your GD. As you say, roll on the 90th birthday grin You, and all carers of people with dementia, deserve every special treat you get - it's such awful hard work when you least feel like doing it, but I suppose we need some life experience in order to try and cope with it confused

Jamie Oliver's original '15' place is round the corner from DS. Haven't been but he has and said the same about the price of 'extras'. There's also a Jamie's Italian nearby - one of my neighbours said it wasn't very good at all. However, each to their own. Me? I prefer a local Turkish establishment or Chez DS's grin He and DDIL are excellent home cooks and it's all free - including wine wine

Swanny Sat 05-Aug-17 19:14:50

oldgoat congratulations! Definitely the curly hair grin

Swanny Sat 05-Aug-17 19:21:56

aggie when I downsized from a 2-up 2-down I initially thought I'd got rid of too much. That was 7 years ago and I've just cleared another load of stuff I'd kept 'just in case I needed it'! When I get round to sorting out paperwork I'll have so much space I'll be able to buy more clothes move DGS's toys from the floor grin

aggie Sat 05-Aug-17 19:24:46

Yep , ether on a mask and tonsils scraped out , woke up to find Granda bearing ice cream , he had persuaded the local Italians to give him some ! Scotland was land of the Brave after all . Then there was the fever hospital with Scarlet Fever and they cut off my long plaits to try bring my temperature down , I couldn't keep the Porridge down . I was about 5 when the tonsils went and 6 for the next episode , then we escaped to Ireland in time for the snow of '47 lol
