Here we go again...

Crafting Thu 17-Aug-17 14:39:46

Well done minibaggs. Congratulations.

maw still got everything crossed for you and paw. Hope he feels better soon. I'm sure Hattie will behave.....just tell your SIL to hang on tight ?

soop Thu 17-Aug-17 14:42:50

Grandson, Louie, has achieved the grades he had set his heart on. He'll be the fifth grandchild to set off for university. All puffed up...as we Nana's are allowed. grin

Greyduster There is rarely a night sky that doesn't lure me to photograph it. At the moment, it's a tad blustery and sunny with it.

Maw flowers flowers flowers

Charleygirl Thu 17-Aug-17 15:05:09

Maw being a Scot through and through I understand the meaning of the word wabbit and with luck it was due to lack of sleep and nothing else.

I had no idea that these dogs did not understand the meaning of recall. Provided your s in law does not lose her or Hattie gets harmed, with luck it will work out fine. You need to look after yourself.

soop another weight off your mind that Louie has done so well. Congratulations to that young man.

harrigran Thu 17-Aug-17 15:35:27

Well done to soop's DGS.

Baggs Thu 17-Aug-17 15:50:04

Thank you for all the kind comments about Minibaggs. In spite of her perfect result she has changed her mind about doing Advanced Higher Art this year. Doing art to someone else's timetable stresses her out big time so she has decided to keep it a leisure activity, something she does because she enjoys it.

Congratulations to all other successful examinees and comiserations to any who might need to redo or do something else.

I hope Paw has another good day, or preferably two or three, from tomorrow, Maw. It's horrible for him and a strain for you flowers flowers

Greyduster Thu 17-Aug-17 16:16:01

Very happy news for all these hard working youngsters, and nice for parents and grandparents to be able to share in their joy! Well done Louie!

soop Thu 17-Aug-17 16:29:28

grin grin grin that's for the good news.

Doctor phoned a few minutes ago. Wee sample back from the lab. ANOTHER UTI to deal with. We were en route to Campbeltown recently and I felt really rough. Stopped the car and MacSporran took over the driving. Took sample to the surgery...hey ho...more bloody antibio's.

MacSporran has a further appointment with the blood specialist, in Oban, on Wednesday. And another the following week, again in Oban, with the aneurysm specialist. We shall have fish and chips one time and go to the Kitchen Garden the next visit. Excuses galore! wink

Swanny Thu 17-Aug-17 17:01:04

flowers Congratulations to all grandparents for surviving the stressful weeks of waiting for exam results and congratulations also to the students in your families - regardless of their results. No-one fails in the eyes of those who love them flowers

Swanny Thu 17-Aug-17 17:09:22

Maw like many of us in the kitchen I think of you and Paw several times a day, wishing him well flowers wine

soop sorry to hear you're on the A/Bs again and have more trips to Oban in the next couple of weeks.

callgirl1 Thu 17-Aug-17 18:14:35

Well done Louie and Minibaggs!
I`m still thinking of you, Maw and Paw, and hoping that things will work out well.
Soop, so sorry about the fresh UTI, they`re a buggeration aren`t they, and I should know, I`ve had enough of the blighters. Also sorry that you have to make that long and torturous trip to Oban 2 weeks running, take care. And love to Rory.

soop Thu 17-Aug-17 18:24:05

Swanny I like your post. It's true that there are no losers in the eyes of those who love them. There are other alternatives for the students who may be feeling disappointed with their grades. My late father left school at 15 with no qualification whatsoever. What he had in bucket loads, was the determination to make something of himself. Within a very short time of joining the army he was promoted to Sgt Major. After that, he gradually taught himself all that he needed to know to become a rep for a chemical company. Eventually, he became the district manager of the said company (a well known one). He never gave up. He reached his full potential. I'm very proud of his achievements.

Night night, dear kitcheners. Time to log off. smile moon

soop Thu 17-Aug-17 18:25:16

callgirl1 We'll say hello to David when we pass by tomorrow morning. smile

aggie Thu 17-Aug-17 18:51:49

Well Done to all the students smile
Hang in there Maw
I sympathise with minibags art has to be spontaneous
Soop I feel your pain , I have just finished my antibiotics for the same problem !

cornergran Thu 17-Aug-17 21:07:52

Congratulations to louie and minibaggs and good for minibaggs for knowing herself so well. A courageous decision i think.

Sorry about the UTI soop. Haven't had one for years but I remember them well, more than debilitating. Hope this one leaves you very quickly.

Been thinking about you and paw, maw. These dips must be so disappointing, hang on in there, hoping for a better day tomorrow. Hope Hattie and your sister in law returned in one piece, I'm sure Hattie will get her trained soon.

Sleep well everyone.

Crafting Thu 17-Aug-17 21:46:24

Congratulations to Louie too soop

University isn't for everyone and neither of my DC went but both now have really good jobs so if anyone didn't get the results they hoped for, don't give up, there are many different paths to success.

Still thinking of you maw and paw

Crafting Thu 17-Aug-17 21:47:19

Forgot to say sorry about your UTI soop. Hope the antibiotics sort it out soon.

Charleygirl Fri 18-Aug-17 09:13:49

I agree, sorry about the UTI, soop but a really good excuse for fish and chips.

I have followed advice on another forum and removed my profile, probably too late but one has to start somewhere.

I hope that Paw had a good night and is aware of his surroundings.

Baggs Fri 18-Aug-17 09:36:32

Thank you for that, corner. Given that a career in art and graphic design has been Minibaggs's long term ambition for several years now, I think you are right and she has made a courageous decision.

soop, oh no! not another one! Is there nothing they can do to help you avoid these horrid infections? So draining for you!
I was going to a flowers emoji but sometimes my iPad keyboard plays up and I can't access square brackets or Apple emojis. Here's the thought, anyway! Flowers!!! x

Iam64 Fri 18-Aug-17 09:48:50

UTI's are horrible, thank goodness for antibiotics. I had a run of them and the threat of being on a low level of antibiotics as a preventer for life seemed to scare my body into behaving itself.
Maw - those sight hounds love to run don't they and 'recall', what's that they think. One of my friends adopted a sight hound several months ago. Luckily, they live in a fairly quiet area with access to a huge park. Said dog has gone missing a few times when not being walked by the attentive owner but always finds his way home.
It is a sunny morning here, have a good day everyone x

Crafting Fri 18-Aug-17 10:35:17

charleygirl I have gone black too. So sad for those who want to ask for help.

Hoping for good news form maw today.

Gagagran Fri 18-Aug-17 10:49:21

Can't help wondering how paw is and how maw is coping. This is such a stressful time for them. I hope Hattie helps to change the focus a little bit.

soop my sympathies on the recurring UTIs - a real pain in the proverbial as well as the actual. I hope you get sorted asap. Have you ever tried regular cranberry juice? My late Dad had a permanent catheter following prostate cancer and had frequent UTIs and blockages. He was told to drink cranberry juice every day by the District Nurse. He still got problems but not as frequently.

My good intentions to have an early start on sorting "stuff" out have come to nothing so perhaps I'll delay the early start until tomorrow. grin

ffinnochio Fri 18-Aug-17 11:20:11

I've been looking out for updates on Paw on the Good Morning thread, Maw, but realised they'd be here, so have skipped over.
Just to say am thinking of you both. flowers

devongirl Fri 18-Aug-17 12:06:29

Baggs I was interested to see what you saif about minniebaggs - my daughter embarked on acting training last year to follow a decade-long ambition, but found the pressure associated with pursuing it as a career took all the joy out of it; she has left the course and will pursue acting as a leisure activity instead. She's disappointed and misses the course terribly, but feels she made the right decision for her.

Good luck to miniebaggs!

Galen Fri 18-Aug-17 12:12:16

soop surprised your quack hasn't got you on long term trimethoprim. It's what's often used for recurrent utis

kittylester Fri 18-Aug-17 13:00:39

Sorry to hear about the uti recurring, Soop - it's a right buggeration!!

Devonshire my dd started an acting course too but hated the stress and the rejection so opted out. She started doing events management which seemed to satisfy the showbiz side and continued to do amdram - somewhat curtailed with 2 little ones!
