Dear downsized That is sad news. It was a bonus that you were able to spend some happy time together recently. flowers x

cornergran Mon 04-Sept-17 14:29:55

I'm so sorry to read your sad news, downsized, take care of yourself today, well, for as long as you need to. There's never any real preparation for the reality but how wonderful you had those days together.

A take care of yourselves message to you and macs, soop, you are focusing on caring for your much loved Rory who sounds to be very comfortable just now. Please care for yourselves as well.

50% of today's childcare accomplished without any damage to any of us smile. Really, really tired though, was thinking that next summer will make us another year older. Love being able to help but there may need to be some better planning. The problem is the part of the family without a planning gene. Good job we love them grin

Take care all, sit down time over, it's off to the park.

soop Mon 04-Sept-17 15:07:19

corner You are a star! flowers

I`m so sorry to hear about your friend Downsized.
Soop, all my best wishes to you, MacS and Rory, my thoughts are with you all.

kittylester Mon 04-Sept-17 16:28:07

So sorry to hear about your friend downsized. I hope you have many happy memories. flowers

Maw, I hope you get some resolution soon. You must feel like a piece of chewed string!

Well done on all you childcare corner. It is exhausting isn't it. We have half a day left before things return to normal and we just do one afternoon a week after school. A doddle really. grin

Charleygirl Mon 04-Sept-17 16:31:14

corner I am exhausted imagining what you are up to with the children. I only hope that you can sit down with a cup of coffee while the children run around letting off steam.

Sorry to hear about your friend downsized. You have had to cope with so many tragedies in recent years.

soop please give Rory a light stroke from me.

NanaandGrampy Mon 04-Sept-17 16:48:08

So sorry for your loss Downsized , I hope your cherished memories support you at this time.

and fabulous news soop I have been braced for the worst but it sounds like Rory has pulled a 10th life out of the bag. Enjoy his company xx

soop Mon 04-Sept-17 17:20:11

I will, in spite of promising not to bang on about that cat, close the day with heartfelt thanks for so many supportive messages. R is still fast asleep on his big, feather cushion. Every so often we sit beside him and whisper sweet nothings in his ear. We shall take each day at a time. smile moon

Charleygirl Mon 04-Sept-17 18:25:25

soop I will never ever have any objections if you want to talk about that handsome boy every hour on the hour. I am well aware that time is now limited and you are cherishing every moment with him. Rory has no idea how many concerned friends he has.

baubles Mon 04-Sept-17 18:39:48

soop you & macsporran have been on my mind today. I'm glad you're having another wee while with Rory. He's a much loved moggie.

grannyqueenie Mon 04-Sept-17 19:00:35

Goodness soop Rory had kept us all guessing, he looks so comfy on his cushion. It would be lovely if one day he just decides for himself it's time to take his leave abd it's peaceful and pain free and all you have to do is love him in the meantime.
Sad news for you downsized even when expected it still feels like a body blow. That's a long time to be friends, I'm glad you had the chance to be with her recently. Thinking of you flowers

Lona Mon 04-Sept-17 20:02:05

Soop I think Rory has decided that he will go when he is ready, hopefully gently in his sleep flowers

downsized Sad news for you. Even when expected, it is a shock to lose someone dear to you. I'm so sorry my dear. flowers Thankfully you had the chance to spend time with her and say goodbye.

Galen Mon 04-Sept-17 20:24:48

Well I've packed my shoes! Think I need to pack a few more things:- like pearls?

Charleygirl Mon 04-Sept-17 21:57:15

Galen there are a few items between your shoes and pearls which you will definitely need!

NanaandGrampy Tue 05-Sept-17 09:30:08

Just popped in to say hello and see if there was a Paw or Rory update.

I am proper poorly today so I wont stay and infect you all- I dot a dold !!

:-)

Tegan2 Tue 05-Sept-17 09:37:57

soop; I don't want to worry you but I assume that Rory doesn't go out on his own. It's just that, when cats are nearing the end of their days they have a habit of taking themselves off somewhere and disappearing sad.

MawBroon Tue 05-Sept-17 11:01:54

Poor N&G - colds , while not terminal, do a jolly convincing impersonation don't they? ???
Poised to get the call from Ward 18.
It has amused us to see diggers in action across from his room windows, ostensibly preparation for a new car park, but <whisper> it is actually Paw's escape tunnel gringrin

Charleygirl Tue 05-Sept-17 12:03:25

N&G there is nothing worse than a cold. I do hope that you are being well looked after by him indoors.

Maw if Paw is being discharged today, I sincerely hope that it is not mid evening or later. As you are aware from the last fiasco, all the care plans must be in place before he opens his room door to exit.

annsixty Tue 05-Sept-17 12:05:18

I hope it happens Maw everything is crossed.
I need sustenance and strong drink. I have just placed my first online grocery order. I went with Sainsbury's as they had sent me a voucher for £20 off my first order and free delivery.
I don't mind saying it was a nightmare. The page kept disappearing and I got so fed up that I ended up ordering 9 bottles of wine to make the order up.
I am going to have to persevere as my mobility is getting bad.
I will get a taxi every few weeks to get meat and fish and freeze it.
I will also try other websites.
Wet, wet day, but I am housebound anyway.
I hope Rory is comfortable and secure and everyone else is coping with the various trials that beset us.
We do have to keep on keeping on.

Galen Tue 05-Sept-17 12:29:41

I use Ocado. I find them very good and the delivery people will help you unpack and put away.

Charleygirl Tue 05-Sept-17 12:37:48

I am lucky, on the whole I do not need to make up the £40 but on occasions I do it with cat litter, loo rolls and also I order long life semi skimmed milk.

Sainsburys sirloin steak is very good but I buy their best quality- I cannot remember what it is called- ?Sainsburys finest. You can always buy a small portion of fish for the two of you and see if you like it. That is what I do and on whole it is fine. Just make sure that they know not send short use by dates.

The delivery man will take your groceries to your kitchen if you want.

annsixty Tue 05-Sept-17 12:39:18

Thank you Galen I intend trying others. On a thread I started it was said Ocado's webite was easy to use. I can't say the same about Sainsbury's.

cornergran Tue 05-Sept-17 13:09:38

I have just shared your pain ann - had the very same offer and thought it too good to pass by. Having used two on line grocery stores before I totally agree, the Sainsbury isn't easy to navigate and much to my annoyance doesn't give the facility to specify a use by date for fresh products. We use organic milk, I like to buy three at a time - but only if the use by dates are far enough ahead. I even telephoned to ask, was told it was impossible, couldn't be done. I had great pleasure in telling the person on the phone that at least two of their competitors offer that facility and if they can do it..... I was polite, not their fault, asked them to pass the comment on. Grumble, grumble, grumble. I may persevere but suspect I won't. I like Waitrose, polite delivery staff who help and don't complain about the walk from the car park to the front door, but only use them when they send substantial vouchers which they do every three months or so. I haven't tried Ocado but suspect they will be my next port of call, it's not so much physical ability here as long as Mr C remains relatively fit and healthy it's the time and in the Winter avoiding the weather. It should be easier to sit and type in an order than trail round a shop. Notice I said should be but then I am seriously grumpy today hmm. Oh well, see if this one arrives on time on Thursday. Hope you recover, ann, I'm off for lunch and a chill out, need both now.

cornergran Tue 05-Sept-17 13:19:52

So, to other things. I agree n&g colds should be categorised as serious illnesses, they are just horrid. Keep warm and dose yourself with all things pleasant.

Fingers crosed for you both today maw, wishing you a sensible discharge time and an appropriate support package for home. The diggers could be useful for paw, I once said I would abseil out of a window if I wasn't discharged, the consultant was not amused grin

I could well betaking your relocation advice, charley its flipping raining again Its one of those days when the world - including the weather - seems to be conspiring against us.

Soop please keep talking abour Rory, we don't get tired of hearing and do worry about you all.

Right, lunch time, chilli and rice today with some salad, nice and warming in the flipping rain which as you can probably tell is being taken as a personal insult grin.

Take care all.

MawBroon Tue 05-Sept-17 13:21:05

9 bottles of wine annsixty!! gringrin
what a dreadful experience!
I might be round helping you drink them as PAW IS STILL IN HOSPITAL and now not coming out till tomorrow
CBA to explain why at present. Wait until I have calmed down.
