Brunette10 yes definitely exciting times. I went to one of the scans and know that my daughter is having a girl so the knitting needles are out!!

I've joined fairly recently and am finding the forum both enjoyable, helpful and enlightening. Some very sad stories around, though.

holidaynana DD just had DGS2 last Thursday. We didn't know what she was having but he's here now and such joy. I don't knit but there's nothing lovelier than seeing a newborn in a lovely we knitted garment. So precious!

Hello, I joined a few months ago. I’ve already got the push I needed by posing a problem on Gransnet. A lovely intelligent group. I’m 63 separated, have a 27 year old still at home and my interests are horses, dogs, shopping, walking and keeping active. I have five kids and three grandchildren.

Hello. I signed up about a week ago after seeing the forum mentioned in an Age UK FB post about loneliness. Looks like a good thing! Just finding my way around.

Brunette10 Thu 11-Oct-18 07:18:57

Writerbird - welcome. I hope it doesn't take you too long to find us all! Sure you will find Gransnet interesting. Lots to discuss and listen to.

I can't aspire to your standard of living Oldbatty, but I do have mice!

Welcome Writerbird and Colvillefly. I signed up around 6 years ago and have never regretted it- except for time I have wasted being on line for so long!

I have made virtual friends on line by emailing them and have made 3 good friends locally which started off having a coffee.

BookieGram Thu 11-Oct-18 21:03:33

Hello all! I have just joined Gransnet. I found the site when I was searching for advice so thought I would try it out. I am a 74 year old, self-employed bookkeeper (hence the odd username). I have two wonderful sons and each of them has two daughters, ranging in age from 7 to 19 years of age. Some days I am not busy with my bookkeeping, so not liking to be idle, I was looking for some way to contact other seniors for chats. I am looking forward to talking with some of you.

Welcome BookieGram, I misread your post and thought you were a self employed bookmaker! I was going to ask for some horse racing tips.grin

ClareAB Sun 14-Oct-18 18:21:31

Hi. My name is Clare. I have 3 sons aged 27, 28 and 31, and a granddaughter aged 18mths.
My eldest son, partner and granddaughter are moving back to my locality next week and I'm so excited! They have been living 300 miles away for 3 years, so I haven't seen them anywhere near as much as I'd like. But now they're coming home.
As this is my first grandchild and first little girl in the family I'd appreciate any advice or tips.
Looking forward to many discussions in the future, smile

MammyM Tue 16-Oct-18 03:32:56

Hey- just wondering if any of you young grannies are also a mum to a young baby too?
Quick background- I became a mum at the rather young age of 16. Was wonderfully supported by my family. My daughter is now 21 and has just announced her pregnancy! She lives with her boyfriend. However... I also have a beautiful son who is just 1. So I suppose I'm just a bit worried about how the dynamic of this will pan out... anybody had a similar situation? And how have things been?
I should just clarify I'm not upset by my daughters pregnancy- just can't wrap my head around bring mum and granny to two babies at the same time!!

EllanVannin Tue 16-Oct-18 12:30:13

Hi All----a " newbie " today. Will have to feel my way around the forum, particularly with the emoticons as they don't operate by touch------I've been spoiled in the past, obviously.

Charleygirl5 Tue 16-Oct-18 19:13:32

Welcome EllanVannin you will soon find your way around.

varian Tue 16-Oct-18 19:16:30

Hello. I joined yesterday so still getting to grips with the site. I came across this site by chance while I was browsing, but it’s just the type of thing I was looking for. The health and beauty page has already been very helpful to me and it’s a joy to come and see what’s happening when I have a spare moment

Grammaretto Sun 21-Oct-18 13:11:45

I found GN earlier this year but didn't announce myself. I dived straight in. I stick to forums which interest me or ask a gran if I want words of wisdom which I always get.
I have been to a couple of meetups too.
I'm a gran to 7, babies to teens, but I also have my in laws living nearby.
I am interested to know if MammyM had any replies because my Mil had a young DD when our first was born and it was fine afaik.
