Do they exist any more? I think I'm about to succumb to one any minute now hmm

Tegan Mon 21-Jan-13 13:39:32

I find Sheila's Wheels very good. I stuck with them because, having switched from Saga after a price comparison, when my policy came up for renewal the following year they didn't push the price up dramatically [as Saga and most other insurers do]. I was quite surprised at the time because I'd got used to insurers of all kinds playing silly so and so's every year [and I find the whole process very time consuming and, yes, very very stressful]. An insurance broker phoned me up the other day to ask if I wanted a quote for my house buildings cover. I pointed out to them that they'd refused to cover me a few years ago because I had a tree next to my house and a river up the road and that I'd been very upset by it at the time and had no intention of ever going back to them angry. Oh for the days of sticking with the same company without this silly shenanigans every year. [and don't get me started on British Gas....]

It's the stage, Kali, isn't it, where if just one more thing is demanded of you, or goes wrong, you know you'll explode! Glad all has calmed down now - gather ye rosebuds while ye may.

There is nothing worse than dealing with large organisations over the phone - it is such an exercise in patience. By all means have a nervous breakdown - you will be in good company!! Take care x.

vampirequeen Mon 21-Jan-13 14:50:28

Nervous breakdowns definately still exist but they're not called that anymore. You sound as if you've had more stress this morning than more people have in a week.

Can you chill out this evening?

Kali Mon 21-Jan-13 14:54:03

Bez it's good to know its not just me. I'm not impressed with this aspect of Saga.
Sel if the GKs had kicked off I would have left home! Luckily they are pretty good little characters and play well together.
petallus- and Ariadne yes, it's that sudden 'I want to scream loudly and I shouldn't' (in case i can't stop) moment.
I too like Grace's 'frustration overload' yoga it hits the nail squarely on the head.
tegan British Gas .. I know!!
mishap I'd love to let go but afraid I'd never come back again and would vanish off into infinity.
grace, shysal, Marelli, glass, Ceesnan, cheelu, grannylin thanks to you too. It seems a storm in a brew now but it was a horrid feeling earlier.
Hope I've not forgotten anyone? smile

Ana Mon 21-Jan-13 14:57:44

You haven't forgotten me, Kali, because I've only just got back in and read the saga of your horrendous morning! shock
I find it hard enough to cope with two boisterous GCs - don't know what I'd do if I had four of them to look after. Hope you're feeling calmer and more collected now...brew
wine later perhaps? grin

Kali Mon 21-Jan-13 14:57:55

Oh vampire our posts crossed. I will chill tonight. I'll have to as I'll have three of the GKs again tomorrow, but that's ok as it's pre-planned.
PS my dog is fine. It was only his (sorry about this folks) his anal glands. At least that's one worry gone.
PPS MrK did find his way to and back from the local shops. The cold air has done him good and he's quite lucid now.

Kali Mon 21-Jan-13 14:58:42

Ana bring it on wine

Lilygran Mon 21-Jan-13 15:15:02

cupcake glad you're feeling better.

gracesmum Mon 21-Jan-13 15:21:17

The dog's bo**ocks? grin

moomin Mon 21-Jan-13 15:26:45

Good that things are brighter Kali - what a handful (even very well-behaved ones) 4 GC must be without having to cope with those interminable phone calls which seem to go nowhere!

Liking your comment grace - nice one grin

Movedalot Mon 21-Jan-13 15:33:25

I had a run in with Saga which was only resolved after I emailed Ros Altman directly. She answered really quickly and then things got sorted asap.

Yes, nervous breakdowns do happen but I think they are rather more serious than this. That is not to put down your rotten day/time Kali for which you have my sincere sympathy. smile wine

Ella46 Mon 21-Jan-13 16:49:53

Kali Glad you feel a bit more composed. Just think how many glasses of wine you'll be able to hold with all those hands! wink

Kali Mon 21-Jan-13 16:57:21

lilygran, moomin, moved and ella thank you smile
How do you find out info like the email address moved?
Pity only got one mouth though ella
grace shock

Bags Mon 21-Jan-13 17:10:32

Respect, kali! I'm not sure I could do a ninety minutes phone call with four GK in the house. Hope your insurance is sorted soon.

nanaej Mon 21-Jan-13 17:29:04

Just logged on ..hope you are able to have a relaxing evening kaliwine [bubble bath emoticon].. after a busy and frustrating day! I had a tricky few moments this morning when I had to battle with the HMRC website to pay my tax return dues & kept getting told my username and password were incorrect! And I only had DH flapping about a lost receipt not 4 GKs!

Movedalot Mon 21-Jan-13 17:43:53

Kali I've PMd it to you as I seem to remember it was a very long Internet search.

wisewoman Mon 21-Jan-13 17:50:19

Just caught up with gransnet. Kali hope you are feeling better now. I think Insurance - car, house etc is one of the biggest stressors around. They are supposed to be providing a service but that is a joke. Well done you for coping with that while looking after four children. That is what is known as a double whammy. You deserve a large wine when they have all gone.

Tegan Mon 21-Jan-13 18:08:07

And flatulence is solved [canine that is]. All in all, after a bad start, a result smile.

Kali Mon 21-Jan-13 20:35:54

bags thank goodness for hands free and eyes in the back of my head.
Oddly enough nanaej just about to jump in a Dead Sea Therapy bath.
Cheers moved will open that after the above bath smile
wise wine in hand and tegan better odours all round grin

Guess what 'guaranteed next day delivery before 12.00 noon' means ....no such thing angry
Waited in all morning. Nothing. More time on phone to Saga. Should come by 1.30pm but cannot guarantee this either.
Perhaps I'm getting old but I thought 'guaranteed' meant something. Is it me? hmm

Movedalot Tue 22-Jan-13 12:58:50

I expect there is a get out clause for bad weather! Ask them for the number on the form and then you can track the package online. Should be interesting if they can't give it to you grin [cynical emoticon] Good luck

Actually I don't entirely hold Saga to blame for late delivery. Our local Post Office Depot is a hive of inefficiency and skivers. Not seen a postman since last Thursday. Yes, it was bad here over the weekend and yesterday but schools are back, the buses are running and I've just had a delivery I ordered yesterday tea time from Amazon. I've managed to walk to the local shops every day bar yesterday. But any firm that relies on our local PO Depot delivering is asking for problems. I know not all Post Offices are like this.

Kali Tue 22-Jan-13 15:11:34

I've tried that and typical PO website says 'it has entered our system'. Yes, I know, that I'm waiting for it to exit the system...at my house! Phoned local depot. Answering machine on, probably all gone home. Have just emailed Ros Altmann Saga Director General.
If not here by tomorrow will simply go on line and get insurance from another company. I tried Skoda but they only insure Skodas!!!
Only got three GKs here today and they're happily trying to potty train Teddy! grin

Movedalot Tue 22-Jan-13 15:38:33

Your house sounds such fun Kali.

I hope RA resonds to you as quickly as she did me.

When I rang Saga about a holiday and asked if the hotel had Internet the person I spoke to had no idea but said thy had wiffy (to rhyme with sniffy) so I wasted no more time!
