Agoraphobia.

After two and a half years of turmoil, bereavememnt, moving house three times and other problems, I have ended up with agoraphobia. I have to go out to do shopping etc., and I'm OK if I am in control of where I go and when I leave. I have been asked to go on trips with various friends but the thought of it fills me with real fear and I haven't gone. I have managed the cinema a few times.

I think this has been discussed on forums in the past but I thought there might be some new thinking on the problem. My main fear is falling ill when I'm out knowing that my DH would be there to help me. We were such a support to each other when we had little ailments and we would jolly each other along. I think it will pass in time but I do got fed up with myself.

Don't panic falconbird - these sort of problems go in for setbacks - the improvement is never linear. But the general trend is up and that is what you need to concentrate on. Don't let yourself be downhearted if there are one or two downward blips on the way to full recovery. You really are getting there. Have faith in that.

Hi vampirequeen I am new on here and have been looking at posts in the forums just to say I suffered slightly myself with this for a short time and found stopping drinking coffee (too much caffeine) helped an awful lot if you drink coffee give it a try when I stopped I was able to go out on my own which was great I also got a dog which I had to take for short walks think that helped too ...you think you might get ill if you go out I used to think that but if you did feel ill going out its the best place as you would get immediate help ...
