Just had a go at this quiz on the BBC www.bbc.co.uk/guides/zg3hk7h

My body age is 10 years above my actual age!! Please tell me I'm not the only one grin

They reckon you live longer if you have an optimistic outlook. Unfortunately I am a born pessimist.

Nelliemoser Thu 04-Aug-16 18:21:14

B****R that for a game of soldiers. I appear to be 6 yrs older than my real age. It's probably because I lean towards pessimism. Being pessimistic can save disappointment later. grin grin

Just call me Eyore.

chelseababy Thu 04-Aug-16 17:58:20

Four years older! Must do more excerise, eat less red meat (see meatless Mondays) and be more optimistic!

Nana3 Thu 04-Aug-16 17:54:36

I have aged 16 years if I don't cheat and 4 years if I cheat a tiny bit.

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 04-Aug-16 17:48:30

I'm 4 years younger and when we get another dog, I will be 6 years younger! grin

matson Thu 04-Aug-16 17:31:57

I have aged 11 years !!!!

Mildred Thu 04-Aug-16 17:26:02

Husband is 20 years younger, 58 instead of 78' I have got myself a toy boy, not. I am 6 years younger which ia down to smoking in my misspent youth. It was a long time ago 45 years but my doctor says it still counts.

SueDonim Thu 04-Aug-16 16:50:35

Three years younger for me. I thnk if I lost a wee bit of weight, that would help. According to the charts I'm not overnight but I feel rather lardy, after being on holiday and eating different food etc.

Liaise Thu 04-Aug-16 16:32:41

Twenty one years younger than my seventy three but did I cheat by including gardening and ten thousand steps a day as exercise. I feel about ninety five by five pm and snooze all evening with gransnet and television. I've yet to see the end of midsomer murders so every time a repeat comes on it is new to me! Take it all with a pinch of salt (iodised of course). Never been to a gym. I do drink 14 units a week. I can only count to fourteen. The optimism one was a bit difficult to decide.

Lona Thu 04-Aug-16 15:13:10

Seven younger, and I smoked for ten years!

Kittye Thu 04-Aug-16 14:44:33

Oh no! My body is 10 years older than me. I think it's being an ex-smoker. I do try to eat well and exercise every day.

Margsus Thu 04-Aug-16 14:36:26

What? I don't smoke or drink and although I'm a bit overweight (by about 8-9 lbs), apparently at 67 I have the body of a 78 year old. Going into a corner to sulk now.

Anya Thu 04-Aug-16 14:21:33

Same here Merlotgran definitely 'avin' a larf confused

Granny23 Thu 04-Aug-16 14:07:19

7 years older. Not a surprise for an overweight smoker.

NonnaW Thu 04-Aug-16 13:47:43

19 years younger! Think I'll try DHs now!

Greyduster Thu 04-Aug-16 13:24:54

Five years younger, but why does it ask how much red meat you eat and only gives you an option for fish and dairy or meat and veg, and not an option for fish and meat? I eat a lot of fish, but I also eat red meat! Perhaps I misinterpreted it.

FarNorth Thu 04-Aug-16 13:22:51

There is a bit of explanation at the end E.g. " Your attitude has a tangible impact on your health. Optimists live longer and get ill less regularly. And even when they do get ill, they make better recoveries."

merlotgran Thu 04-Aug-16 13:19:56

Twenty years younger! They're 'avin' a larf.

My knees disagree for a start.

shysal Thu 04-Aug-16 13:14:52

Mine came out 15 years younger. I don't feel it these days!

Auntieflo Thu 04-Aug-16 12:17:29

I'm 74, says my age is 67, so how come I feel 96 somedays?

Teetime Thu 04-Aug-16 12:14:57

I'm 63 with a body age of 48 - mental age of a 7 year old!!!

Grannyknot Thu 04-Aug-16 12:10:17

Anyway I'm sure if there was a question about being exposed to passive smoking my results would not be as good! I lived with a packet-a-day smoker for many years and it still annoys me that I didn't kick against it harder back in the 70s and 80s.

So I don't think this is definitive.

Grannyknot Thu 04-Aug-16 12:08:18

gilly maybe stress (support) and outlook (pessimist/optimist) has an impact physiologically? Mind/body and all that.

Grannyknot Thu 04-Aug-16 12:06:33

Minus 10 ... smile

DaphneBroon Thu 04-Aug-16 12:00:06

7 years younger. Not bad!
