Well today's the day. My second knee replacement op. It's an awful thought knowing what the recovery will be like. I was very sick in hospital last time due to the pain meds. Just lost days.
Will pack this morning and prepare the house. Just looking at all the necessary stuff is depressing. At my pre op visit I was shocked at how anxious I felt just going through those doors.
Oh well. Needs must. Onwards!

Good luck Jane. Hope it's not as bad as you fear.

oh jane, it will be worth it, honestly. Can understand your worries. I’m sure you’ve mentioned the sickness, keep reminding the staff, perhaps a different medication or anti nausea would help. Any case, wishing you well, sending a huge hug.

Hope all goes well.

Best of luck, I’m sure it will go well. It’s always harder when you know what going to happen. But at least you will be prepared and know what to expect.

My son had a lot of surgery as a child, and the meds often made him icky. Try having ginger, nibble on ginger biscuits or drink ginger ale/pop. It really does work, and keep hydrated.

Best of luck, x

Lots of good luck wishes winging your way. At least you understand the recovery process this time and will be able to set your mind to getting through it as speedily as possible - and this time you know it gets better! I share the icky bits post-surgery; but I do think that the anti-sickness drugs they have now are better and more effective, so fingers crossed for you. flowers

Thank you all for your kind wishes. I suppose I wanted to write down my feelings. It's hard for the family to understand although DH was wonderful last time I think he sort of feels 'oh God. Not again!'

morethan2 Thu 28-Jun-18 08:55:39

Good luck, I know it feels worse the second time round but it does mean you can discuss how sick the medications made you last time with the doctors so they can adjust or change your meds.
