Hello , a new thread, welcome all x

I have been off line since this morning , and land line down !

Doodle Wed 09-Sept-20 10:50:16

Yes we have to keep doing that don’t we Annie.
Did you manage to get an appointment with a proper physio during your conversation yesterday.
DH and I are planning a trip to the south coast tomorrow. We are both longing for a glimpse of the sea so as the forecast is not too bad we thought we’d give it a try.
How is everyone today? Any plans?

Anniebach Wed 09-Sept-20 11:05:33

Doodle can’t see a physiotherapist but had advise from one
by telephone yesterday, and she is a physiotherapist .

Your going to the coast tomorrow, wonderful, I love the sea,
standing on a beach seeing the waves , hearing the sounds, I always found it healing.

I can only walk a few yards, am agoraphobic, but I am going
back to either my beloved New Quay Bay one day with my
mini tornado, she wants to see the dolphins and I want to walk
to the end of the Quay , enjoy it my love , relax and watch the
waves x

BlueSky Wed 09-Sept-20 11:15:07

Anniebach
I also like this quote ‘fall seven times and stand up eight’
Morning all. Love that quote Annie. Feeling better thanks to good old fashioned Gaviscon, but I know and want to have this stomach problem properly investigated as it is recurring.
Feeling downhearted hearing some restrictions will be reintroduced, not that I go or enjoy going out and about and meeting people, quite the opposite, but it does give a general feeling of helplessness. Never mind we'll just have to carry on as best as we can.
Have a peaceful day. cafe

ChrissyR Wed 09-Sept-20 11:16:12

Sorry everyone. The acupuncturist actually told me that, as the fear is so entrenched in me, it probably couldn’t be cured by anything. I think she was making me realise that I shouldn’t have high expectations in case I was disappointed when I realised that a course of acupuncture isn’t a miracle cure and my anxiety isn’t going to magically vanish. She’s pretty sure that it will lessen so I’m hopeful for that.To be truthful, if she hadn’t said that, I probably would be looking for a cure.

Doodle I hope you have a good day out. I live on the south coast so I often walk along the seafront.

Anniebach That’s a beautiful poem.

lavenderzen Wed 09-Sept-20 12:02:13

Good morning everyone

Another one of your poems Annie, and that is lovely. Thank you. I like the quote "fall seven times and stand up eight", has meaning to all of us.

Glad you managed to speak to a qualified person too. That is a positive. That would be wonderful if the mini tornado could take you to see the sea, I know how much it would mean to you.

Busy day here, if I don't flag under the pressure!

Take care everyone, love to all xx

Anniebach Wed 09-Sept-20 12:40:09

BlueSky gaviscon? I must have drunk gallons , very sensible
to have stomach problem sorted, you can then be treated and
it will clear up.

I so understand how you feel about that general feeling of
helplessness, I am waiting to hear what the university plans
are when it opens, I am hoping and praying my younger
Granddaughter can carry on with her studies on the internet,
if she has to go there I will be worried about her and I have doubts about her coming to see me, all the talk about a surge when universities opening, .
Yes you are right, we have to carry on best we can x

Anniebach Wed 09-Sept-20 12:54:12

lavender I love poetry but in fairness I have never posted
Welsh poetry ? x take care with the packing don’t exhaust
yourself x

Chrissy I understand but please stay hopeful , phobias can
be ‘cured’, x

Doodle Wed 09-Sept-20 15:25:06

Chrissy Annie and possibly others on this thread know that I used to suffer dreadfully from claustrophobia. For over 40 year I didn’t set foot in a lift. I could not go in a public toilet and lock the door. I couldn’t use any toilet where there wasn’t a gap at the top and bottom of the door. I had frequent panic attacks.
So I went for a group counselling sessions and I sat there waiting for them to come up with the answer to my problem. For them to wave the magic wand and I would be cured. It didn’t happen.
What they did make me realise is that I could only fix this if I did it myself. They gave me some advice about panic attacks and off I went. It’s too long a story to go into much detail but let’s say I started by going into a toilet and shutting the door (sounds easy but took me about an hour to recover from the palpitations) from there I gradually worked up to the day I finally went in a lift, then in a lift on my own, then in a train, then in an underground train. It took about 13 years to get to where I am now. I can go in a lift without even thinking about it. I hope you get some relief from the acupuncture but don’t ever give up hope of conquering your fears one day.

Doodle Wed 09-Sept-20 15:28:30

Annie I hope your mini tornado keeps safe and can continue to see you.
Bluesky I hope you find the answer to your stomach problems soon.
Lavender don’t wear yourself out ?
Take care all x

Anniebach Wed 09-Sept-20 17:44:35

Doodle yes you did tackle your claustrophobia, we have spoken on it on Black Dog. Your post sums up recovery from
phobias, we have to cope with the fear as we move forward and we can move forward , ScaredyCat is moving forward,
doing step by step , it’s great.

BlueSky too is doing much .

I think when I greet a new poster and explain we ‘understand and support’ I should also add ‘encourage’.

That first step is a stinker but we need to remember it leads
to freedom.

lavender has much worry but is moving house , this is so
brave.

ChrissyR Wed 09-Sept-20 18:35:11

Doodle Thank you for telling your story. You’ve obviously worked very hard to get where you are now. Also it sounds like ScaredyCat, BlueSky, Anniebach and lavender are all facing their fears.

I need to somehow stop feeling sorry for myself and work harder at dealing with things and not let my depression and anxiety rule my life. Im not sure where to start (apart from trying the acupuncture) but things can’t carry on the way they are so I have to work it out.

Scaredycat Wed 09-Sept-20 19:04:56

Good evening allx
Annie I loved the poem- right now we really need hope as the news sounds so Hope less. No wonder we feel so scared a lot of the time. I do hope one day you get to the sea with your Grandaughter and watch the dolphins. That is a lovely thing to work towards.
Have a lovely day by the sea tomorrow Doodle it’s the best place to raise your spirits and never fails to make me feel better. Nothing is nicer than feeling the sand between your toes . I really admire too how brave you have been in conquering your fears - you are a brilliant example for us all.
Chrissy it must be lovely to be able to do that often. It sounds like you have a good Acupuncturist who doesn,t promise too much but I,m sure she will help you. Good luck.
Tonight I could feel that old sick feeling at dinner but just dug in and it went down ok. So now it’s a film on the tele and try and relax. Hope you all have a pleasant evening and sleep wellxxx

Doodle Wed 09-Sept-20 20:24:27

Chrissy you are right to try and improve your situation but please remember we are here whatever. We have what Annie once referred to in the BDG as ‘wobbles* . We don’t actually fall but we come close. We are also ‘plodders’. Even in the bad times we plod on. So try your best with the acupuncture and let us know how you get on.
Scaredycat thank you. I am doing well with my claustrophobia. Wish I could deal with anxiety the same but I will keep trying. Good to have friends here for support.
Sleep well all. Be in late tomorrow maybe with tales of the high seas ?

BlueSky Wed 09-Sept-20 20:35:47

Goodnight all x brew

MerylStreep Wed 09-Sept-20 20:50:44

Bluesky
I hope you get an answer to your gut problem. If, just if, you don't get an answer can i give you a link to a product that not only 'cured me' but did the same for thousands of others.
I have been trouble free now for over 2 years.
You will recognise the Dr who recommends it. www.getthegloss.com/article/the-surprising-facts-that-a-top-gp-wants-you-to-know-about-your-gut

Anniebach Wed 09-Sept-20 21:21:41

Chrissy you are not feeling sorry for yourself, you are coping with anxiety and depression. Perhaps think of one
small step you can take ?

You have said you wouldn’t have any tests for fear it was something which could be serious yet accept if it was something fearful you would have to accept the final outcome because you wouldn’t be having any treatment, are you saying death is less frightening for you? Forgive me for asking, but
it saddens me that you think this way

We all care that you are so troubled x

ScaredyCat yes we are all trying to cope with ‘the unknown’,
many who have never had to cope with anxiety and depression are phoning mental health lines for help with
anxiety and depression. I fear another lockdown, the last time
I didn’t see anyone for 17 weeks, except the top of the postman’s head ! I hope you enjoyed the film, and well done
eating dinner, x

Doodle have a lovely day tomorrow, leave your worries at
home and enjoy the day x

Joce345 Wed 09-Sept-20 22:12:39

Even all Annie Doodle lavender Nonnie Bluesky Scaredycat all
Chrissy you’re not feeling sorry for yourself, I think I am scared of death. I think that’s where a lot of my fear comes from, believe me it takes something for me to say that openly to anyone. I fear illness, I don’t feel sorry for my self, I want to get better I can’t help how I’m feeling no more than you or anyone on here can. I don’t like being depressed it makes me sad it also makes me angry. We must keep on hoping we will get there.. keep plodding on, hope the acupuncture give you some hope..
Annie love your poem..x
Night all.
Hope everyone has a peaceful night sleep ?

Anniebach Wed 09-Sept-20 22:30:15

Joyce you have made a breakthrough ? x

Anniebach Thu 10-Sept-20 09:55:17

Hi all x

How is everyone ?

Purplepixie Thu 10-Sept-20 10:29:19

Thank you for your kind words. I have an appointment at the drs for this afternoon. My depression is something that I just cannot handle myself. Even my youngest son said that I need some professional help now. Also, I have had two lots of counselling in the past. One lot was good (2009) the other not so (2014). Have a lovely safe day.flowers

BlueSky Thu 10-Sept-20 10:33:40

Morning all. Annie you said you had an ulcer, how was it treated? Was it successful? brew

Anniebach Thu 10-Sept-20 10:54:34

Purplepixie it’s good you are seeing you GP.

BlueSky I have had two ulcers , the first some years ago, there was a new treatment, medication which formed a sort of
plastic lining.

Second one, medication and diet to reduce acids , I think antibiotics . Yes successful but acidic food still a no no.

Some foods are best avoided , why upset your stomach when you find some foods do just that .

BlueSky Thu 10-Sept-20 11:05:04

Thanks Annie I probably had this problem for quite a while as I cannot eat anything spicy, fried, fatty etc.

Anniebach Thu 10-Sept-20 11:17:42

BlueSky note which foods upset you, but make sure you are
getting vitamins and minerals, don’t cut out foods because you
fear they may upset your stomach.

Once you have the diagnosis you may be referred to a dietician , you stomach will let you know what it doesn’t want x

BlueSky Thu 10-Sept-20 11:49:38

Thanks Annie sorry for keeping on about this, but were you diagnosed with a CT scan? As the GP said they probably won't do an endoscopy at the moment because of Covid x
