Is everyone getting a flu jab?

I caught what was known as the Hong Kong flu in 1969. Not had anything nearly so bad since. I've had the flu jab twice and both times I suffered from a really bad cold afterwards. So, no, I won't be having it anymore. I did used to take my mum for her jab and found going to Boots a better option than the doctors. Just made an appointment and there was never any waiting around.

Two years ago I had flu jab, no reaction at all, friend had minor reaction. Last year (different strain obviously) she was thrilled not to have any reaction, but I did just a little bit!

DH and I are having ours on 3rd October ‘touching wood’ we’ve never had a reaction from it just a sore arm for a couple of days. Any protection from nasty bugs this winter is worth taking in my humble opinion.

We’ve booked ours, end of September. I think it’s particularly important this year as flu + C19 doesn’t sound too appealing! Also, the fewerof us that get flu complications and end up putting extra strain on the NHS the better.

We will both be having it as usual

I had a text message from Tesco Pharmacy earlier on, telling me if I wanted it from them again this year the booking is now open on the website .....will probably do it over the weekend. Never had any problems after having the jab, so will keep on having it.

Yes. I react to a few antibiotics and other pills but never had a problem with flu jab.

Got mine booked for 28 September. We have the jab every year, never had any problems.

Yes, having mine in 2 weeks time. Our surgery is organising a drive through flu jab this time. I heard that they’re being done at our surgery a bit earlier this year, maybe because of the COVID pandemic. I’ve never had any serious ill effects from the flu jab, although last year my arm hurt for a few days and I did feel slightly flu-y. The previous 2 years, I had no reaction to the flu jab whatsoever.

Some comments on this thread just demonstrate how doctors have their work cut out convincing people that they can’t get a cold or flu and nor can they die from having the flu vaccine!

All the more reason for the rest of us to make sure we have it to protect ourselves from those who refuse.

We had ours this morning at the surgery. They were doing them on the car park. We thought it was a bit early, as they usually do them at the end of September, but we didn't want to miss the chance. My arm is a bit sore tonight, nothing bad.
I had pneumonia and pleurisy a few years ago following the flu, and I ended up in hospital for weeks. I certainly don't want to risk that again!

Yes, always have it, I’ve got R A, so am always advised to have it. Never had a reaction either.

I have never had one and don't intend to, as I very rarely have the flu and don't suffer from anything else.

I will, however, have the corona vaccine when it becomes available.

My doc is sending letters out this MTH for flu jabs

i never have had a flu jab but my husband in the vulnerable group has. He was really poorly so may has well have had flu in the first place. So decided not to have one again
My brother has had no such aderse reaction - so proves we are all different. BUT in his area the DRs are not giving the flu jab as this task has been diverted to the pharmacists.

We will definitely be having the flu jab as usual. I think it’s more important than ever this year because of COVID.

Booked in for next week. What with elderly parents, grandson and Covid. Not taking any chances.

Yes in early October. I want to protect myself from any nasties that are about.

I will be having mine, once my new Surgery tells me when it will be. Have had one every year for over 20 years and never had an adverse reaction, though did have real flu before then, and was very ill.

I wouldn't have one but Mr PattyFingers is having one. He is having to go to a farm and do a drive-by!

Booked mine this morning at the Lloyds pharmacy in my local Sainsbury’s, for next Wednesday.
