My daughter had a sore throat and cough. Her school told her to stay away until she gets a negative test. Easier said than done. There is a testing centre at the bottom of her road, nearly always empty - but when she went there, was told that they are not permitted to test anyone who has not been booked in - despite them standing around doing nothing at the time. She and her hubbie took it in turns on the computer to book a test virtually anywhere in Southern England. Took them nearly thirty (30) hours to do this.
She is 99% certain it is normal winter cough, etc. but can understand the school needing the negative test - which - hopefully, will arrive in 48 hours. All the time they were on the computer they stated that NO postal tests were available.,
What does concern me is that with such an total mess-up in capacity for testing throughout the country, and with every teacher and child being excluded from school for a fortnight with every cold symptom in the winter months, exactly how much education will actually be able to be achieved.
Cannot understand why every school does not have their own testing kits available for immediate use - and every hospital.
