Borrowing the wording from Anniebach, this thread is for the
support, understanding and sharing of all mental health troubles.

Ellie Anne Sun 22-Aug-21 20:25:07

Doodle things are beginning to start up again. My house group starts this week but May still be on zoom and a group I help at starts soon too so that’s all good.
I’ve not been walking so much because other things he e cropped up but that’s good too.
Annie have you thought about contacting the local paper about your problems. It’s amazing how quickly things can get done when there is some bad publicity.
But I know that way is not for everybody.

Anniebach Mon 23-Aug-21 10:52:11

Hi all x

I am more relaxed today, must explain I encouraged my son in
law to develop a new relationship.

How is everyone ?

Thinking of BlueSky and her husband.

Ellie Anne great that things have started up again for you x

Scaredycat bravo for attending a family wedding ? x

nonnie I loved Lionel Blue, missed him on ‘Thought For The
Day, thank you x

Joyce what a fright , that idiot car driver, thank God you were all unharmed x

I pray RamRoot has found help and support.

Nonnie Mon 23-Aug-21 11:44:21

BlueSky so sorry to read this. My neighbour is a few days ahead of you and is gradually feeling better but today says she has lost her sense of taste and smell. However, she appears not to have lost her sense of humour as she says that is a good thing because her DH is cooking! Hope that gave you a smile and that you are only as ill as her.

Joce !!!!! how horrible. I suppose you were too shocked to get the driver's number. That is going to hit you time and time again as you walk that route.

Ellie Anne I've done the walking but also the eating! Scales said 'ouch' this morning. Hope your mood improves over the coming days.

Annie don't know about the jazz programme but can't you get Mastermind on iPlayer? I pray some of the outstanding things get done soon.

Scardycat think you need to change your name grin You did it and it was better than you thought. A lesson to us all, just be the 'little train that thought it could' Hope you all remember that.

Something you gardeners won't 'get'. This morning I harvested my breakfast and now feel like I'm in The Good Life. Picked blackberries overgrowing from the land behind our house and blueberries from our garden. No, I didn't plant them, we inherited them from the previous owners. Later will be eating tomatoes DH grew. We are practically smallholders {grin]. Hmmm maybe not quite self sufficient!

BlueSky Mon 23-Aug-21 14:04:45

Afternoon all x Thanks for your concern everybody, I’m much better but poor DH has an hacking cough which kept him (and me) awake last night. Also he lost his sense of smell and taste, which is useful when you are planning to lose a bit of weight. I’m so disappointed as people we know who never stopped meeting family, never got as much as a cold. Perhaps we have been too careful and became vulnerable to any passing viruses. We could just as well have booked our holiday in Benidorm then! Back to daytime TV like the dark days of lockdown.
If you can go out please do and enjoy! cupcakebrew

Doodle Mon 23-Aug-21 20:43:27

Ellie Anne your post sounds more positive. Good to hear there are things you can get involved in again. Don’t forget to look for other opportunities too.
Annie you are a kind hearted person. It must be so hard to encourage your SIL to be with someone else. You obviously have a good bond with him.
I hope romroot is getting on ok too.
Went for a long walk today (taking your advice Annie ?) it was very nice. More of a stroll than a walk really. Lovely to see the children out playing in the park.
Nonnie your breakfast sounds nice and fresh. I had strawberries with my breakfast. Waitrose though, not hand picked. My DH can’t cook at all. If it was up to him we would be having toast……burnt ?
Scaredycat I’m glad to hear you’re improving but sorry to hear your DH is still poorly. Does he have anything for the cough. A codeine based treatment works for my DH when he has a cough. Hope you both manage to sleep tonight and feel better in the morning.
Take care all x

Doodle Mon 23-Aug-21 20:44:20

Joce hope you are ok. I got some new material today for some lightweight trousers.

Joce345 Mon 23-Aug-21 21:13:44

Evening all...
thank you all yes it was so frightening two shocked to get his number wish I had me and my daughter just stood looking shocked at what had happened..

Annie I’m pleased you are more positive today..

Bluesky take care hopefully you will both feel better soon.
my brother is just getting over it he lost his taste and smell, thankfully he’s on the mend now...

Nonnie have been for a walk with baby today yes went a different root...

Doodle I have just made a cover for sewing machine, I do find quilting hard and not done anything fancy, I’m pleased with it..
Nice cool trousers for this weather...

Take care all BDG, hope you all have a peaceful night sleep.
??

Nonnie Tue 24-Aug-21 09:27:53

Doodle my DH makes what I call carcinogenic toast!

Joce many years ago a friend made a patchwork cover for my Kenwood chef, I still use it.

BlueSky you seem to be progressing quite quickly I pray it continues.

I'm on a roll, after yesterday's Good Life today the real Scardycat let me touch her! It's taken years for her to even be in the house when I go round to feed them. Last day today as the neighbours return tonight. They have one bossy, one nosey as well, all very different characters. Oh, and they also have a dog but she goes to Grandma's when they are away

Doodle Tue 24-Aug-21 20:13:03

We’ve had a busy day today. Been to the garden centre twice. First time to buy some garden planters, second time to take them back as they were too big. By the time we’d carried them to the car and back a few times we were exhausted.
I cannot do what I used to. I realise now I have to really slow down and take a break after doing the smallest job, I get out of breath so quickly.
Joce glad your brother is feeling better now. A cover for your sewing machine sounds good. I still haven’t got round to cutting out my next pair of trousers. The days just seem to pass by.
Nonnie it seems the men in our families will not be entering Master Chef any day soon.?
Nonnie you are sounding up beat.? Nice if you to help out the neighbours when they are away. Obviously the cats are warming to you.
Annie hope you are ok.
Take care BDG. Sleep well x

Joce345 Tue 24-Aug-21 22:04:35

Doodle my husband certainly won’t be entering master chef he doesn’t know where the cooker is, no really, the girls say it’s my fault I’ve spoiled him. He can put the kettle on.. ?‍♀️
yes the days just seem to go into one no sooner up than it’s bed time again...
hope everyone has a peaceful night sleep ?

Ellie Anne Wed 25-Aug-21 08:18:04

After a few better days I’m way down again.
My daughters cat had a big op yesterday and is in hospital. She has commitment sat/sun that can’t be cancelled so I’ll need to go down to look after it. She’s in a state over it all. The cats are like family to her as she lives alone hundreds of miles from her own family. She also needs to borrow money as the pet insurance won’t cover it all. That’s not a problem but she feels bad about it.
So I’m dreading the 5 hour drive mainly on motorways and worrying something goes wrong with the cat while I’m there.
Not a crying person but feel on the edge of tears since yesterday. And now I’ve forgotten to drink my tea ☕️ and it’s gone cold ,!

Anniebach Wed 25-Aug-21 10:35:06

Hi all x

I posted yesterday ?,

Ellie Anne make another ☕️ . You were troubled when you
drove to your daughter’s in the summer, all was well .

It is distressing when a much loved pet is ill, if you have concerns for the cat when you are there call the vet, but if the
surgery was successful why should something go wrong. x

So much sewing and baking , I can’t do either. I so miss the latter.

How is everyone?

Nonnie Wed 25-Aug-21 16:13:35

I feel I must defend DH, yes he burns his toast but that is because he likes it like that! He has become quite a good cook so is able to step up as and when needed. He doesn't cook healthy food like I do but is really not bad at all.

Ellie Anne cats ARE family. Your daughter is lucky to have you. You are needed and that is a good feeling. I know it makes a huge difference to me to feel needed and useful.

Weeds are doing really well in the garden, must do something about them

Doodle Wed 25-Aug-21 20:07:58

Ellie Anne I read you post and was considering how to respond when I read Annie’s. As always Annie is the calm voice with good advice. You have coped before and will again. You are being kind and helpful to your daughter and I’m sure the cat will be fine. Obviously your daughter will be comforted to know you will be there with the cat while she is away. Try not to let this upset you. I’m sure all will be well.
Joce I have no idea how I managed to work all those years. I find myself nodding off during the day all the time?
Annie another missing post. It seems to happen to us all.
I’m ok thank you. DH has a very sore foot. The toenail on his small toe is coming off for some reason and his toe is very painful and red. I made him soak it in salt water and then put a plaster on it so the nail doesn’t catch but I don’t think he will be going out walking for a day or two.
How are you doing?
Oooh Nonnie do you rent him out? ?. Funnily enough I am very good at growing weeds. I have been out today watering our communal garden. It takes some time but I am only on rota two days a week. I just stand there and daydream.
Take care all x

BlueSky Thu 26-Aug-21 09:10:49

Morning all x I’ve obviously been over optimistic as after reporting feeling better, I’ve felt worse than ever. With me it’s my stomach and bowel now, and feeling rough, no energy, thank goodness for on line deliveries. DH is still coughing but not too bad. Can’t see the end of the tunnel yet.
Hope you’ll all have a good day x brew

Ellie Anne Thu 26-Aug-21 13:20:56

Sorry if I am sounding like a real moaning Minnie.

Scaredycat Thu 26-Aug-21 15:49:22

Good afternoon all
Ellie-Anne - hope the little cat is recovering well from her op. You dealt well with the drive last time so I,m sure you,ll be ok. Your daughter will be so relieved to leave her cat in loving hands. You are not a moaner just sharing how you feel.
Doodle - your poor DH. Even small problems with your feet are so uncomfortable. Tomorrow I,m off to chiropodist as I periodically have to have the ball of my foot sorted out. It feels like a stone in my shoe? my poor feet do take a bit of a hammering!!
BlueSky- sorry to hear you,re not so well today. Hope you soon improve.
Nonnie - never can make out why weeds thrive so much better than the plants we keep watering and seeing after. Better to leave them to get a bit taller then you don’t have to bend so far to pull them out!!
Glad to hear my namesake is being more friendly when you go to feed her.
Joce- hope you had a happy uneventful walk with the baby .
Annie - hope you are ok today.
I can’t change my name yet as every day without fail I get scared at least once- but I,m trying .
Love to allx

Doodle Thu 26-Aug-21 21:05:49

Bluesky sorry you’re still feeling poorly. When you’re not well like that you are bound to feel listless and tired. Take things easy till you start to feel better. Try and eat a little now and again to keep your strength up. Hope you both feel better soon.
Ellie Anne we don’t have any moaning Minnies on this thread. Being worried or anxious is not moaning and we all understand that. This is the lovely thing about this thread. If you are finding things difficult you can say so without fear of being criticised in any way.
scaredycat DH used to go to the podiatrist too as he has many problems with his feet. He had an operation on one foot years ago which helped a lot but he is prone to that sort of thing. Do you use shoe insoles in your shoes? They can help if the underside of your foot hurts?
Annie hope you are ok. You too Joce
Sleep well all x

Anniebach Fri 27-Aug-21 10:09:39

Hi all x

BlueSky so sorry you are feeling so wretched, do rest, it will
pass my love, x

Scaredycat. I suggest - *Bravescaredycat , you have been facing your fears , so - ?

Ellie Anne sharing your worries is NOT moaning, you are
sharing. We know that long drive troubles you yet you do it x

My new glasses arrived Tuesday by post, Tuesday evening eyes
felt uncomfortable but this can happen with a new prescription, Wednesday morning ? eyelids, skin around eyes
inflamed , very red, very very uncomfortable.
They must have been covered with stuff !

And the prescription is certainly not correct.

Nonnie Fri 27-Aug-21 10:10:37

Doodle hope your DH is a good patient and doesn't keep you running round fetching and carrying. Hope his toe heals soon.

No, don't rent him out, I am still training him on how to be an adult, not yet up to scratch grin.

BlueSky you will get better but please take it easy. Don't try to do too much too soon or I think you might make it worse. My neighbour is feeling a lot better now and waiting for her release date. She is a few days ahead of you.

Ellie Anne that is what this thread is for, for us all to pour out whatever we want to and get understanding from the group.

Scardycat sorry to hear you have foot problems.

Pull out weeds? Where did you get that idea from? grin Nope, I spray them these days! I have come to the conclusion that I have to cheat with some things these days. Yes, I know, but I do my best in other ways for the environment.

Lately I have been reminded of how fortunate I am to have very few disabling conditions. Some of you seem to have quite a few, which is sad, but makes me grateful that I am still reasonably fit for my age (ancient!)

Friend's funeral yesterday with a lovely reading about not thanking him enough while he was alive. Promptly thanked one of my DS.

Doodle Fri 27-Aug-21 11:11:10

Oh Annie I despair. When is anything ever going to go right for you. Your poor eyes. What a disappointment. I hope you can contact them and get it sorted out.
I love your idea of the name bravescaredycat ?
Nonnie my DH is very good. He is always so grateful for anything I do for him and would rather hobble round than get me to fetch and carry for him. I think, having had so many illnesses over so many years has made him quite stoic and not prone to feeling sorry for himself.
Glad the funeral went as well as these things can.
I too am generally quite well. Won’t say fit as I get out of breath quite easily but grateful to be able to get around ok.
Have a good day all x

Joce345 Fri 27-Aug-21 12:33:37

Just popped in to say hello to you all..
I have so much going on don’t know which way to turn, not had time to catch up with everyone but will do soon...
Take care all ?

Doodle Fri 27-Aug-21 19:46:59

joce nice to hear from you. Hope you are ok. Don’t forget we are here if you need to off load.

Nonnie Sat 28-Aug-21 11:15:32

Joce, I hope that being so busy is a good thing.

In the middle of the night got a call from a friend whose husband is away, she heard someone outside the kitchen window. We just beat the police arriving. Couldn't find anyone so she came back and stayed with us. This morning we have been back and checked everything, nothing but when I walked around the decking she could hear me from inside, exactly the same sound. She will come back and stay with us again tonight. I think bank holiday weekends probably bring these people out hoping a house is empty,

Doodle Sat 28-Aug-21 15:59:18

Nonnie nice of you to help out a friend. Hope there isn’t an intruder.
Annie I meant to ask have you got your new iPad yet?
It’s very warm here but completely overcast. Might rain so we went for an early walk.
Hope all the gang are ok and have a good bank holiday weekend. x
