Hello, I wonder if any one is suffering with this ailment. I am eighty. Have been treated at a variety of hospitals over a period of ten years. First surgery carried out in 2003. Am between a rock and a hard place. Can have a colostomy at a private BMI hospital for £25,000, or wait indefinitely on the NHS waiting list with no date for the foreseeable. Every day is a challenge. I appreciate that there are countless people far worse off than I am. I would however be most grateful of any first hand information that can help me to manage this dire situation. Thank you.

If I send emails, to those I know, don't worry, I will do blind copies to preserve anonymity.
Once we know the link, we can take it from there.

Add me to the list too, please. I don’t post very often, but am a friendly “lurker” who would like to be involved in Soop’s Army ?

V3ra Tue 30-Nov-21 22:50:57

PM is fine by me Marydoll ?

Marydoll Tue 30-Nov-21 22:33:46

I'm a bit confused. Are we sending the links by email or PMs? I know we cannot post the link publicly, but surely PMs are OK, if we are familiar with the person.
I have some email addresses already, but not many. I could manage about ten, I think.

It is people like you that make a world of difference when times get tough. Onwards and all that. I shall not be naming the funding site that we select (maybe tomorrow) here on GN. My friends will help me to work out a link using my email address. We WILL survive. It's what we do in style. flowerssunshinesmile

soop Tue 30-Nov-21 17:28:58

I now feel less down in the dumps. Thank you XXX

soop Tue 30-Nov-21 17:28:11

Sue Granniesunitemerlotgran smile It's worth a try. After the pal has called tomorrow, I shall forward details to Marydoll Elegran and Baggs

merlotgran Tue 30-Nov-21 17:23:21

I was thinking we could share it the ‘chain mail’ way.

Soop sends the link to Marydoll for example, who forwards it to six members. The one at the top of the list wishes a Happy Christmas to six members on this thread and forwards the link to them. The second one does the same and also wishes a Happy Christmas to six more members and so on.

We just have to keep our own list of names who have received a Happy Christmas message so we don’t all send you know what to the same poster.

This way we’re all doing our own admin so no hassle for soop

merlotgran Tue 30-Nov-21 17:11:07

Are PMs not allowed as a way of sharing the link?

Granniesunite Tue 30-Nov-21 17:09:40

soop I’m fairly new to gransnet but I just want to say how very sorry I am that your hopes have been flattened you have had such a difficult time and your dignity and resolve to continue to look for treatment is inspirational.
If anyone has the link can you send it to me please.

Susan56 Tue 30-Nov-21 17:07:35

I agree with Marydoll, we will find a way to share the crowdfunding link??so many people wanting to help you soop.We just need to put our thinking caps on and find a way to share the link with all your many gransnet friends?

soop Tue 30-Nov-21 17:00:29

*HebeGranset(gnhq)

Thank you for your message. I fully understand why it is that I cannot use Gransnet to help with fund raising for the Colostomy. If any Gransnetter friends can continue to keep in touch by email, that may help. Although it is going to involve a lot of extra admin work.

We may need to scupper the crowdfunding way forward. Facebook alone will not help to raise all the funds needed.

I shall remain most grateful for the support of my Gransnet friends. Their kindness has lifted my ever flagging spirits.

Best wishes.

What about Facebook for people that use it.I think Soop does.
