Hello, I wonder if any one is suffering with this ailment. I am eighty. Have been treated at a variety of hospitals over a period of ten years. First surgery carried out in 2003. Am between a rock and a hard place. Can have a colostomy at a private BMI hospital for £25,000, or wait indefinitely on the NHS waiting list with no date for the foreseeable. Every day is a challenge. I appreciate that there are countless people far worse off than I am. I would however be most grateful of any first hand information that can help me to manage this dire situation. Thank you.

*Mr Soop* will have cataracts removed in 15 months time! He is still perfectly okay to continue driving. Thank goodness.

Glad to read this, soop.

That news about the cataracts is shameful to me.
In this area , Stockport, as far as I an aware they are still being done in weeks, not months.
The work is mostly carried out by a private clinic named Optegra on behalf of the NHS.
My neighbour has had both eyes done during the past year as has an acquaintance.
The follow up tests and new prescriptions are carried out by Boots opticians.

Aveline Sat 18-Dec-21 10:32:05

My optician says that I have cataracts developing but are not 'ripe' enough for replacement surgery yet. Maybe MrSoop is in the same position.
I used to go to Boots opticians but after an extremely poor experience I went to an independent optician. Very much better.

Apology not needed Charleygirl (although I did get excited to think the target had been exceeded).
Any of us could make a similar mistake. My family often laugh at my typo errors.
My brain rushes ahead of my fingers ?
I hope MrSoop can rise up the queue in a shorter time than 15 months ?

Blossoming Sat 18-Dec-21 11:13:43

I guessed it was a typo Charleygirl as I’m sure you would have made a very excited post if the target had been reached! We would have heard the cheers smile

Good news Soop that Mr.Soop is on the list and is able to manage in the meantime.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 18-Dec-21 11:14:48

Very easily done, I hold my hands up there.

Doodle Sat 18-Dec-21 12:44:01

So easily done Charleygirl. Even when I check my posts I still read them back after and see a mistake I’ve missed.
Specially easy with numbers involved.

I am extremely late with visiting you kind Gransfriends and I apologise. After lunch I had a zizz. It is only now that I've surfaced...in a daze and looking slightly rumpled.

Mr Soop sends virtual innocent hugs to "his ladies". I agreed to pass his message on to you.

I need a brew, or three. I'd love one of Baggs' flapjacks. hmm No joy there! wink

I shall endeavor to be more with it tomorrow. Wishing you all a pleasant and peaceful evening. smile moon

Calling all Grans. Any of you who have had to cancel an outing would you consider giving what you might have paid for a meal or drinks to Soops Just Giving appeal? The target is so close we just need a few more kind people to chip in. How about it?

soop Sun 19-Dec-21 16:16:40

Thank you , Aveline. Our grandson is raffling Nike sports clothing this weekend. He's a fabulous lad. On Tuesday, he will tell us how successful the raffle has been. Fingers tightly crossed. Truly grateful to him, his pals, and my special you lot pals. Such kindness will never be forgotten. flowers sunshine smile

Aveline I wonder if it would be worth starting a new thread with your idea Calling all grans
Im sure many GNetters have read this thread now but some may have skipped over it and not be aware of what’s going on and therefore not thought about contributing to the very special fund,
Great idea by the way.

Aveline Sun 19-Dec-21 16:21:23

It wasn't my idea. I just liked it. Will start another thread as you suggest.

Marydoll Mon 20-Dec-21 07:03:49

Thanks Marydoll. I’ve just clicked and it’s now £24,226. That was a truly inspired idea Aveline, well done you.

Marydoll Mon 20-Dec-21 09:21:49

I've put the link on the Good Morning thread as well, another audience. You never know, many read that thread, but don't post.

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 20-Dec-21 09:30:01

Oh dear I meant £14226. So sorry!!!!

maddyone Mon 20-Dec-21 10:30:38

We’re nearly there.

soop Mon 20-Dec-21 10:41:03

Swoon! Smelling salts! All of a dither. I am in a state of scruffiness, having spent two hours thanking ever person who has been kindness personified. Overwhelmed by an outpouring of generosity. We cannot believe that we've come this far in a relatively short period of time. No doubt that I shall return a little later with yet more thank yous for everything you have done to help us along the way to a hoped for resolution. flowers

seacliff Mon 20-Dec-21 13:08:49

Great idea Aveline.

Aldom Mon 20-Dec-21 13:32:40
