Hello, I wonder if any one is suffering with this ailment. I am eighty. Have been treated at a variety of hospitals over a period of ten years. First surgery carried out in 2003. Am between a rock and a hard place. Can have a colostomy at a private BMI hospital for £25,000, or wait indefinitely on the NHS waiting list with no date for the foreseeable. Every day is a challenge. I appreciate that there are countless people far worse off than I am. I would however be most grateful of any first hand information that can help me to manage this dire situation. Thank you.

I am seldom lost for words. At this moment, I am struggling to express my gratitude for the gift that keeps on giving.

The surgeon's secretary phoned this morning. She is "chasing up" admin. Once we get all the details we need, I shall share with you all.

In the meantime, bless you for EVERYTHING. flowers grin

You are more than welcome Soop. We're all keen to see you restored to maximum fitness!

Aldom Mon 20-Dec-21 16:20:39

Only £390 needed now. Can it be done before Soop goes to bed tonight?? Hope so. shamrock

We’re not having Christmas this year for a number of reasons so have happily donated a little something to boost the fund further. Hugs to you and MrSoop ? xx

I cannot understand why Soop cannot get this done on NHS I know of two people who have just had one, both in their 70’s. If she called a hospital whilst in pain they would give her one.

Oopsadaisy1 Mon 20-Dec-21 18:28:09

Fingers crossed that the target is reached tonight, or even exceeded?

Aldom Mon 20-Dec-21 18:31:23

£14,720. Almost there.
Hoping Soop goes to bed smiling. shamrock

Allsorts none of us can understand why it can't be done on the NHS but there are underlying complications which make special considerations necessary. We all just want Soop to have her op and to escape the daily misery she bravely suffers. If going
the Ross Hall route is what's needed then let's get her there.

Marydoll Mon 20-Dec-21 18:46:21

I may have misunderstood Soop, but I think it was the fact that the NHS waiting lists are so long, that prompted Soop to go down the private route, not that the procedure couldn't be done on the NHS.

It is shocking that this is the case.

The generosity of all the 'grans' who have donated to Soops fund is humbling.

Most of us don't know each other but we have all pulled together to do something for this lovely lady.

I hope she can get the operation she needs to enjoy the rest of her life xx

Hear hear Sar53
? for soop

Hear hear indeed.
A communal effort by anonymous caring people.
So close now.

Aveline Mon 20-Dec-21 18:53:13

It's not just the waiting lists Marydoll. It's not straightforward.

Marydoll Mon 20-Dec-21 18:54:40

I know exactly what is involved Aveline.

Aveline Mon 20-Dec-21 18:55:11

I don't want to go into it on a public thread.

... can you tell me where to donate? I'm rushing around like a BAF and haven't got time to read through the comments. I'd like to help this lady reach the target needed.

Marydoll Mon 20-Dec-21 18:57:15

Neither do I. It's inappropriate and personal.

Let's just concentrate on the most important thing of all, that we hit the target.
