This thread is for support, understanding and sharing of all
mental health troubles.

Sweetpeasue Sat 12-Feb-22 19:23:04

Oh dear. Just read that back and that looks thoughtless of me Doodle. I didnt mean I'd be thinking of you not sleeping before I settle down into my own slumber. ?

Doodle Sat 12-Feb-22 19:56:13

HVDY stargazing was ok as it goes. We do not live in a rural area so there is a lot of light pollution but in a clear night DH can find Orion.
Nice to catch up with your friend and look round the shops. Lovely to have your DGC over. That will be fun. Hopenyou have a good time.
Scaredycat DH doesn’t put the light on, firstly because he knows it would wake me up and secondly because we have a street light on the pavement outside our flat which means it’s never truly dark at night and the light is enough to see by.
Your motion detector light is a good idea though.
I’m sure the lady in the mirror was most attractive. ?
Annie I remember you always left your door open so your DD could come in whenever she needed.
Your home must have been a haven for her and your DGC,
No not sleeping in the day yet although we are tired.
Just go to bed every night hoping it might be a good night but not so far,
I bet you and David were jumping on the sofa with excitement. Well done Wales ???????
Nonnie you are right. Helpful suggestions can be of use to others. I was thinking more of the lady who once complained that we didn’t say anything she hadn’t heard before. If only we could provide that magic elixir for all problems.
A good day in the garden will be relaxing after the recent stress.
Whether you’re a gardener or not, a good pruning session feels good. A nice shower should wash away the aches too.
Sweetpeasue it’s lovely to hear you had a good day.
I like the ice skating on TV too.
grin don’t worry I didn’t think you meant anything bad by your comment. I hope you have a good nights sleep.
Thanks for printing the poem I was going to look it up so you have saved me the trouble,
Sleep well all x

Anniebach Sun 13-Feb-22 10:10:36

Hi all x

Sweetpeasue what a lovely surprise to see you had posted
‘Jenny Kissed me’ thank you x

I have a love of poetry, when age 7 my great aunt took me to
join the children’s section of the library, my first choice was
‘A Child’s Garden Of Verses’ . Poems are written from the heart , ‘Jenny Kissed Me’ means to me - nothing can take happinesses
you have known from you.

Anyone want to star gaze come to my part of Wales, we are a dark sky reserve 12 months of the year .

Must share this my friends, I drink 4 bottles of liquid meals a day, that’s 112 bottles every 4 weeks delivered by my local
chemist, couple of weeks ago a GP change the vanilla drink to
fruit juice. The chemist dropped off my new prescription,
the fruit juice has been added to the vanilla, I will now get
224 bottles delivered! I should telephone the surgery but after
the mix up two weeks ago ? Not yet, so what am I going to do
with 112 bottles, chemist can’t take them back .

I have rambled on ! Need I add - it’s raining in Wales!

How is everyone?

Ellie Anne Sun 13-Feb-22 10:25:58

It’s raining in Scotland too Annie but that’s not unusual . I’m sitting in the car watching the sea as it’s too early for church and I was feeling stressed in the house. It’s very grey. A few seagulls about but that’s all.

Nonnie Sun 13-Feb-22 12:20:28

Sweatpeasuelovely poem

Annie I have a Child's Garden of verses, haven't looked at it in years, must remedy that.

Still feeling stressed but glad no physical after effects from the gardening. Raining today so the secateurs will have to wait for another day.

Two days off so hope I will recuperate.

Sweetpeasue Sun 13-Feb-22 12:51:50

Hi everyone
Raining here too.
Glad you didn't suffer for the gardening work Nonnie Hoping you continue without covid symptoms and start to feel better.
Also hoping Doodle and her DH had a better night.

Anniebach Wondered if the 'bach' in your username had significance and see it's Welsh for small. Small in body big in heart. With all those bottles think the rice cakes would be welcome!
EllieAnne What a sad image I pictured - - yourself in car on a grey day watching the sea with seagulls circling. Have done this many times. The sea is always different with so many moods. Thinking of you and wishing you some relief from your sadness. Thought of printing you a poem too but then thought you might think it trite.(not sure if spelt right) Take care of yourself. ?

Ellie Anne Sun 13-Feb-22 14:21:04

Sweet pea sue I appreciate everything written to me on this forum. I have written many poems in the past but don’t seem able to at the moment. I was the only car watching the sea today but sometimes there are many and I speculate on what makes people come. Are they running away from something or sad or just killing time before an appointment? ‘All the lonely people’ from Eleanor rigby goes through my head.

Scaredycat Sun 13-Feb-22 15:22:59

Annie- you,ll be up to your knees in bottles soon!! There seems no end to the weird and wonderful prescriptions!!
Your Sky must be very beautiful do you enjoy the night sky? We have spent quite a lot of time in Utah and the night skies there are lovely.
Oh dear it’s just started to rain here too?
Ellie Anne- it is so sad to think of you alone by the sea. I hope you get some comfort from the peace and beauty. I think many people find watching the sea therapeutic- it’s so beautiful and changes all the time .
Nonnie- sorry you still feel so stressed and hope you can enjoy your rest today. Maybe read your poetry book- if you can find it!!
Doodle- hope last night was a better one for you both.
Today I have spent time with DD as DH was golfing. We had a walk then coffee and a chat. AF came on but I refuse to let it spoil these precious times although it makes me feel very anxious inside.
Take care allxx

Sweetpeasue Sun 13-Feb-22 15:29:10

I've thought that too Ellie Anne. They appear to just pull up and watch the waves. I wonder what they're thinking. The sea always makes me feel so small but I think the waves constantly forming and coming in is somehow reassuring. In a way to be relied on, vast and powerful.

Sweetpeasue Sun 13-Feb-22 15:36:55

Sorry Scaredycat, think posts have crossed. Hello!.

Allsorts Sun 13-Feb-22 15:57:43

Annie, that’s a lot of bottles of food. Will you be able to take solid food soon?. I think you are a remarkable lady, I remember how lovely you were with your daughter.
Isn’t it marvellous everyone mentions how much nature, in its different forms helps. I know it does me.
Good days and bad days, inside it all missing my estranged daughter, nothing can be done, but when there’s a sadness.
deep inside, you never really shake it off, it’s there.
Ellie I do that sometimes, drive and look at a beautiful view, not the sea like you. I do miss the sea.
Hope everyone well on this wet and windy day, I haven’t ventured out today, but will walk tomorrow even if it rains.

Doodle Sun 13-Feb-22 18:17:47

annie let alone drink them, how can you store so many bottles.?. DH would love to come and look at your night sky but you’re a bit far away from us.
How are you getting on with your fruit flavour drinks, are you feeling any better?
Ellie Anne I sat watching the gulls over our river this morning too. I often just sit and watch the wind blowing the trees and the birds flying past. We also have a number of red kytes here but they usually fly way up in the sky.
Hope you enjoyed the church service.
I always thought the words to Eleanor Rigby we’re so true and so sad. There are a lot of lonely people in the world.
Nonnie hope you’ve had a better day today. Been wet here too. Perhaps tomorrow will be a brighter day.
Sweetpeasue kind of you to think of us. It was a marginally better night although 5 minutes after going to bed DH was complaining of issues with his shoulder that spread through his arm and body into his legs so he did have to get up again and later in the night too.
Scaredycat I once saw the night sky in Norway late at night. It was beautiful. So many stars, I had no idea, Utah must have been a wonderful trip. You seem to be doing really well with your AF recently in trying not to let it spoil things for you. Must be an effort but good for you,
Hello Allsorts how are you? Yes nature is wonderful.
I’m sorry you are estranged from your DD that must be so distressing. Have you been on any of the estrangement threads on GN. There should be support there too.
Yes I imagine the sadness is always with you. I hope that the rift will someday be healed.
Yes we stayed in because of the rain today but like you will make the effort tomorrow.
Sleep well all.

Nonnie Mon 14-Feb-22 09:56:31

Scardycat lovely that you hade that time with DD.

Allsorts I feel that estrangement must be like a bereavement plus.

All the talk about the night sky (on Countryfile last night too) reminds me of the barbecue followed by stargazing in the outback. One of the outstanding memories of that holiday.

Another memory you have all provoked is many years ago when I wasn't coping, my friend's sister and I went to stay with her mother in Colwyn Bay. The weather was appalling and we walked along to seafront in the pouring rain with a gale blowing. It did us both the world of good.

Still feeling rubbish but done a Covid test (negative) because I have a dental check up today. Trying to talk myself into going into town afterwards but not sure I'll feel like it if the heavens open again.

Anniebach Mon 14-Feb-22 11:31:38

Hi all x

David and I are happy bunnies , thank you x

The sea, it’s healing, I so miss going to the coast and talking to the sea, saddens me that I will never see it again. One January,
my darling daughter then age 7 said ‘I haven’t seen the sea in the winter, so we did a packed lunch and drove to the coast, sat on the beach wearing woolly hats and boots, there was a storm
and we watched the lightening over the sea, it wasn’t over us, it was magical, I use to write things in the sand so the tide could wash them away.

Nonnie glad the test was negative, are you doing too much?

Doodle no idea where I can store the bottles, have 100 of the
Vanilla already , am drinking the fruit but rather the vanilla.
How are you ?x

Allsorts yes nature really is wonderful, as we are part of it then it affects our moods, ups and downs. Your estrangement,
is there hope for you ? x

How is everyone?

Doodle Mon 14-Feb-22 12:02:33

Nonnie nice to have some happy memories to look back on isn’t it.
There is something about the sea in stormy weather that can lift the spirits. Hope the dentist visit goes ok and you start to feel better soon.
Annie you and David must be over the moon.
What a lovely memory of a visit to the sea you have too.
The sea is special. So overwhelming in its vastness yet wonderful to watch.
If you prefer the vanilla flavour can you not go back to it?
We have a GP appointment this afternoon. I do hope she can give DH something that helps. The situation is getting worse and bringing us both down through lack of sleep and worry.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Doodle Mon 14-Feb-22 18:47:48

Evening all.
Finally got to see Gp in person today and she was very kind. Listened to what we had to say and is going to refer DH to a neurologist which is what we wanted, also gave DH some new meds to help him sleep. Hope it works as the last few weeks have been pretty dire,
Annie hope you and David are doing ok. When’s the next match.
Hope everyone else is ok too.

HowVeryDareYou Mon 14-Feb-22 18:49:52

How has everyone's day been? It's drizzled all day here. Son no. 1 is off work this week, and his girls are here (Last Fri until tomorrow evening) so we went to an indoor play centre for 2 hours (it was packed and very noisy grin) then a pub for lunch, bought a few interesting things from a continental shop, had a browse in a few charity shops, then went to another pub (I didn't drink, I was driving) and the girls played cards and dominoes, met my husband in there, then home. Son is cooking chicken curry and rice, with naan breads. It's been a good day.

Anniebach, ScaredyCat, Nonnie, Doodle, SweetpeaSue, and everyone else, hope you're all OK x

Scaredycat Mon 14-Feb-22 19:00:18

Annie- lovely seaside memories for you too - it must have been a perfect day. I always used to draw a mermaid in the sand - still do sometimes!! The sea is so special and I hope one day you can go there again.
Allsorts- so sad for you and the feelings of longing that missing your daughter brings. I do hope one day you can be reconciled.
Did you manage a walk today? Hopefully the rain has stayed away.
Doodle- hope the GP appointment went well today and she has been able to help your DH- and you too of course you must both feel worn out with it allxx
Nonnie- sorry you still don’t feel so good and hope the dental check was uneventful. Did you go to town afterwards?
It’s funny isn’t it but often the best memories are when the sea and the weather have been at its wildest!!

We have been to a shopping centre today but totally forgot that it was half term. I can’t tell you how scared I felt being amongst so many people my legs felt like jellies. But we kept our masks on and did what we went for. This was something I loved to do pre Covid. Just have to get used to it again- it’s not easy is it.
I hope whatever you have all been doing today you had as good a day as possible.xxxx

nanny2507 Mon 14-Feb-22 21:32:34

Hello all. I hope you are well. I am a bit down tonight. Thoughts of babycakes flooding my mind. My beautiful GD turned 1 on 12th Feb. I have spent a lovely 4 days with her and her big sister. The little one said "nanny" for the first time and I had my first opened mouthed "kiss" with her..such a joy. Big sister made nanny a valentines card as she loves me so much. I forget how lucky I am sometimes.

Nonnie Tue 15-Feb-22 09:05:40

Annie it may be odd but I love watching a storm, think it is all the drama. Once in the hills on holiday the thunder and lightening seemed to go round and round for ages.

Yes, possibly doing too much but there is a need and we can fulfil it.

Doodle so glad the GP was helpful and hope DH got some sleep. Just getting such help must make you both feel better.

HVDY what a busy day, sounds wonderful.

Scardycat well done, you will get used to it again.

Nanny sorry you are feeling down, is it because you had such a wonderful day and now suffering from anti climax?

Started to rain as I left for dentist but DH drove me there so didn't get wet. Had stopped by the time I left so I made myself go into town to get my specs adjusted and buy some birthday cards. Didn't hang around but was pleased that I had made myself do it.

Another bad night but today I am making myself be grateful for my life.

I had polio but I mostly recovered, after so much time off school no help to catch up but I am OK.

I've had too many operations to count but I'm OK,

Life has thrown far too much bad stuff at me but I'm OK.

I will never get over the sudden loss of my son or the death of my brother in his teens but I'm managing,

I have a wonderful family, none of us has caught Covid.

Been married to the same man for 50+years.

Whole family has enough money to live on although none of us is wealthy.

I have heating and a garden.

I have good friends

Sorry if that is a bit much but I'm counting my blessings. Hope you all have some to count too.

Anniebach Tue 15-Feb-22 12:26:22

Hi all x

Doodle thank God the GP listened to you both , hope the new meds help, you both must be so tired. Next match
26th February, the big one Wales ??????? v England, gulp x

nanny you miss babycakes* but what a lovely day with your

Nonnie lots of positives, but you speak of fillings needs, take
care of your own needs too x

Scardeycat you are doing just great my love x

Sweetpeasue sorry I forgot to explain why bach, when I was born there were so many views from my extended family and
the Chapel as to a name, I was given three but my lovely
grandpa ignored them, took half of one name and added bach,
meaning little, when I reached 5ft 7in he still used it , little Annie ! How are you? x

How is everyone?

Joce345 Tue 15-Feb-22 17:55:51

HVDY what a lovely time you’ve had with your son and DGD. Bet they enjoyed the play centre. Enjoy your curry.
Scaredycat yes better night last night thank you. A good sleep makes all the difference. I love stormy sea days too.
Hope the trip to the dentist went ok and well done for going into town.
Nanny how lovey to spend such quality time with your DD and DGDs. So special these moments. Try and concentrate on the good stuff.
Nonnie what a lovely list of blessings. Your right we should all count ours.
I think you’re very good all the volunteering you do. Im sure people appreciate the effort you make and the time you devote to it.
Annie I never knew that about your name before. How lovely you’re using the name your Grandpa chose.
Yes we are lucky the Gp listened and did her best to help. She phoned today to see how we were getting on which was nice of her,
Joce nice to hear from you. How are you keeping.
I have been sewing today. Doing some appliqué and quilting.
I also shortened a pair of DHs trousers…….unfortunately, the wrong ones. Oops blush

Joce345 Tue 15-Feb-22 22:27:34

Doodle I have lots going on hopefully things will get better...
Glad you got your DH sorted and had a good nights sleep, makes a world of difference if you get some sleep, think that’s a big problem for me at the minute so much going round in my head from about 3. 30 every night.
Annie love your grandpas name little Annie, sadly I never knew my granddads
My children always speak lovingly of there grandad. He was a very special man..

Joce345 Tue 15-Feb-22 22:30:09
