I have no medical knowledge…..but just wondering, has he knocked his head, which has caused a sudden imbalance in the brain. It must be so terrifying for him and all of you in the family. I hope there’s some good news soon ..

Some years ago during a stressful time my son had an episode of "Transient Global Amnesia" which lasted about 12 hours! It is one possibility. flowers

Fairview I’ve heard of Transient Global Amnesia in cases like your grandson’s, as Madgran suggests. Good that he’s seen in hospital where he can be properly diagnosed.

I was going to suggest this. My sister-in-law woke up one morning with it. It didn’t last long and I believe it was related to stress. It was frightening for her but she made a complete recovery.

I'm sorry to hear this, it's very worrying for you all.

I hope it is just what other posters have suggested, Transient Global Amnesia, and that it resolves itself soon.

Best wishes flowers

Transient Global Amnesia?
Himself had an episode once. Scared me to death. He recalled nothing of it. Slowly over an hour or so, his memory came back.
I read afterwards it’s more frightening for any observers.
You can say that again.
Googled it. “A one off event”.
I do hope that’s all this is farview.

So sorry to hear this. I hope you have good news in the morning.

The trouble with having an attack of Transient Global Amnesia is that not all doctors know about it. My husband had an attack last year and we were given a diagnosis of Altzheimers by an A&E doctor. This was very upsetting and also as we have had a close relative with this and know a little about it didn’t seem right. We went to see a very highly qualified Neurologist who gave us the diagnosis of Transient Global Amnesia. In my husband’s case the attack lasted about 8 hours and it still takes longer sometimes for memory to return to normal although he has no memory of the missing 8 hours.

Farview My best friend had transient global amnesia and lost two days she was doing her normal things without having any idea she was doing them She had no knowledge she had been to her doctors until she saw a urine bottle on her kitchen table and rang up to find out why she had it She must have got herself home on the correct bus

Migraine can cause a lot more than headaches my grandson similar age, speech went (temporarily)terrifying but after brain scan it was migraine

*farvuew^, what a frightening experience for your grandson and all the family. Pleased to hear that he has been discharged and that it’s nothing more serious.
