Theodora where do you feel it?

FannyCornforth Mon 21-Mar-22 06:29:53

I’ve definitely had that in the past.
You feel like you are shaking; but it’s just inside. It’s not visible.
I have felt it mainly in my head and to a lesser extent my upper body.

Google it, quite common but with several causes.

I have it too. The GP investigated but couldn't solve it. She gave me betablockers to try but they made me breathless and didn't work. I have just learned to live with it and barely notice it now, in fact I think it has lessened since I lost some weight.
I shall be interested to hear what you find out. Good luck!

I get it too! Doesn’t bother me and it’s not too often. It’s my entire torso but not legs or arms. Weird sensation.
I think of it as unspent adrenaline that I’ve built up for some reason & not got rid of maybe? Mad but helps me keep it in perspective.
I’m not going to bother my GP.

I got it as part of the menopause and it was quite frightening at first. Got all heart checks done and all was fine so l relaxed a bit over it. I had also seen online that others were experiencing it so that helped. I presumed it was hormonal as it has now gone. Not nice though and can make you very anxious.

I do think strange things can happen when you sleep. I used to get what felt like electric shocks just as I fell asleep. Very frightening, it felt as though I'd been plugged into a socket and shot through my body like a high voltage. I eventually realised it was my body releasing stress, presumably through my nervous system. Maybe this is something similar.

Me too - I was the first reader as wide awake in the early hours. Thought it was potentially a bit ‘off’ and have actually reported. Apologies if it’s a real thing!

henetha Mon 21-Mar-22 09:30:26

I get a strange feeling in my midriff of being very cold and shivery. Is that the same thing?

TerriBull Mon 21-Mar-22 09:35:02

I've had it too. It is very hard to explain, although I've Googled "internal vibrations" on occasions it seems it is a condition that pertains more to women. Have often wondered whether it is yet another symptom of the menopause, one practice nurse told me that there are just so many unofficial ones too numerous to mention. I think one of the sites I was directed to was one for hypothyroidism, as a Thyroxine take I wondered too whether an under active thyroid is also a factor.

TerriBull Mon 21-Mar-22 09:43:06

To clarify for me it is an internal shuddery feeling in the chest area and at times the feeling of strong pulses as Nongran said maybe something to do with adrenalin surges. Like others, have had heart checks. I found it alarming when I first had these feelings, but try and breath deeply and ignore it now.

So great to read these posts I was so very worried because when you Google internal tremors it brings up Parkinsons I have been so worried and never going to Google health issues ever again!

crazyH Mon 21-Mar-22 09:57:18

I almost reported it, but glad I didn’t, as it seems it is a genuine condition ?

TheodoraP Mon 21-Mar-22 10:02:35

As others have said I feel like an inner tremor, usually when I wake at night have also had Joint issues in my hands

crazyH Mon 21-Mar-22 10:06:39

So sorry for everyone who is afflicted with this. Anything that disturbs sleep must be awful. flowers

LauraNorderr Mon 21-Mar-22 10:11:18

Apologies for earlier flippancy. Sounds awful, sympathy to all who suffer this condition.

I call it zizzing and, for me, it's as if I've drunk way too many double espresso. I think it's some kind of reaction fighting internal inflammation as I very often come down with flu like symptoms afterwards. It's been worse since struggling with long covid and also when I've done too much. Can only suggest getting as much rest as possible whenever you can TheodoraP and keep hydrated as that seems to help too. Hope it eases for you soonflowers

TheodoraP Mon 21-Mar-22 11:55:57

Thanks for the tips appreciated

Kate54 Mon 21-Mar-22 12:00:47

It sounds like palpitations which can be very frightening or the ‘racing heart best’ I know well from a brush with hyper thyroidism a few years ago. Joint pain can also be a symptom of an over active thyroid so it might be worth getting it checked out. Symptoms are different in older people - my diagnosis took a year and was made by…. Me after Googling my three main symptoms. Good luck.

Kate54 Mon 21-Mar-22 12:01:01

* heart beat

TheodoraP Mon 21-Mar-22 15:03:48

It's not palpitations I have had that. It's just tremors but inside the body and not outside I was so scared it might be Parkinsons
