Some nights I just can’t settle/relax enough to get to sleep and then I’ve commented that it feels as though I’m fizzing. Is that the same sort of thing?

So great to read these posts I was so very worried because when you Google internal tremors it brings up Parkinsons I have been so worried and never going to Google health issues ever again!
trouble is that when you ask on here we may google it!
which is what I did, but did not tell you.. of course...other causes are the menopause and many other minor things.....
I don't know if I'm right in saying that tremors relating to Parkinson's are external. The symptoms you describe Theodora I think sound similar to mine. The menopause throws up so many strange feelings, possibly this is related to that. For peace of mind I think you should make an appointment with your GP and discuss the matter and maybe have some tests done. I think my reluctance to do that initially was the fact that I thought what I was experiencing was very bizarre and it was hard to explain. I think it's good you have opened up the matter as a discussion and you can see you are not alone with what your are experiencing.
Yes TheodoraP, they do ring a bell.
My first thought was: Where do you live? and Do you get these feelings in bed or when your feet are in contact with the floor?
If you're a near-neighbour, could this be happening when engineers are working on the HS2 route?
My second thought: Help, I've been dismissing these vibrations but maybe they mean something medical.
I should have said I get these tremors, vibrations, only when I’m in bed. Never when I’m up and active. They are infrequent and seem to occur when I’m semi conscious. That period between sleeping and awakening.
Most odd and if they do get more frequent then for sure I’ll see my GP but for now, I let them pass & don’t give it another thought.
It’s definitely not heart palpitations. I know what those feel like & this is quite different.
Our bodies are amazing things!
Have you been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis ? I have the same type of vibration and when I reported it to the clinic, they said it can be a symptom of the disease or the drugs used to treat it.
I have checked the NHS info on
rheumatoid arthritis and internal tremors are not part f the symptoms
Basically it is as some have said It feels like a small buzy bee inside you body I have found that if I relax deeply that it goes
I do feel 100 times better after reading these posts

That is interesting Pammiel, I have RA treated with Methotrexate and Hydroxychoroquine . I have internal tremors too.
I get this if I wake in the night. I do have health issues though.
Speak to the doctor and get full bloods and thyroid checks to be safe

I had that a few weeks ago was going to say it was like I was Buzzing, started after Stomach Pains. Felt dizzy so went and lay on the bed and it went over
I suffered from ‘internal vibration ‘ in my 30s when I was going through a period of anxiety/ depression with related insomnia. The only person I mentioned it to was my husband who had no idea what I was talking about. I wish I’d known before now that it’s something other people experience although it seems difficult to identify the cause.
I have had this happen but just the once! Pretty alarming at the time but no harm seemed to have been done.
Possibly neck related, cervical spondylosis for example. Have you changed pillows recently?
I get a similar sensation in the upper arms or diaphragm when I am having a panic attack.
I call it "fluttering" and it's very weird.
I realise that the OP is talking about something slightly different but I'll keep following this thread to see what others think it may be.
Mine turned out to be paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. Which is a heart issue - paroxysmal means it happens randomly and in fact it took a while to be diagnosed as it wasn't doing it whenever I was wired up!!
It's treatable and according to my cardiologist "annoying rather than life threatening" although it can increase stroke risk as you age (but I'm medicated to reduce the risk)
Theodora P. I had internal vibration as I was in the process of waking whether in bed or on the settee. It would only last for a few seconds but every time I was waking for months a couple of years ago. I was referred to neurologist who said it was nothing to be worried about and he equated to the sensation you may feel when dropping off to sleep and you suddenly feel like you're dropping off something at speed and it wakes you up. Eventually went away.
Riggie - I have paroxysmal atrial fibrillation too, and get a peculiar fluttering sensation when having an episode, which often happens in the middle of the night. If I think I'm in A fib, I check my pulse and can immediately tell as it's totally irregular and jumpy, which I assume accounts for strange sensations.
My husband has this and it maybe related to medication. If so if you are on medication, look at the side effects. He takes statins and blood pressure tablets.
I've been getting that over the last couple of months on the right side of my chest. It's different to palpitations, like a car engine ticking over almost, it's very odd. I'm glad it's not just me! I am starting the menopause so it might be linked, I do have an underactive thyroid too.
I had a vibrating left boob for a few weeks on and off, a while ago. It felt just like I had my mobile down my bra and it was vibrating gently. Very weird. I also get the same sensation in my hips sometimes. But it rarely lasts long and generally just goes as quickly as it came! Just when I start to think I should really ask someone about it, it stops!
I’ve had similar shaking feeling twice many years ago.
First time was quite frightening.
Went to GP and she said it was too much caffeine.
I had been drinking very nice but very strong coffee.
We always called it ‘having a fluffy’ and put it down to stress. My late OH maintained that I had PTSD from my horrible experiences with two bullying bosses at work as I still had nightmares about work even after retirement. The internal shaking is awful but I find talking it through helped. I suffer from sleep apnoea due to PPS which is bad enough but the shaky insides are more stressful. Breathing exercises may help. Good luck.
Chestnut -I've also had that nasty electric shock feeling .
The first time that it happened I was scared . Now I'm used to it .
It doesn't always happen .
Esmay - mine were every night and so severe I had to start taking Zopiclone to get me through the 'drifting off' phase which was when it always happened. It was definitely caused by stress or anxiety.

Thanks for the tips appreciated
I sometimes got this. My Gp said it's anxiety. I am now taking a beta blocker and its stopped.
